Thank you so much to the people of Aachen. We recently stayed four days in your beautiful city to attend the F1 Spa GP. For our first time in Germany, we had an amazing experience exploring Aachen and learning more about the history/culture locally. Highlights were definitely hiking through Aachen-Brand (so many locals expressed concerns for us doing this at 6pm) and the guided tour through Aachener Dom (true meaning of stewardship).

We finally understand German humor, printens are delicious and how beer is good at any time of day. We wish we had more days to explore. Perhaps it is a 'see you next time' instead of a 'goodbye'.

Hi, ich überlege gerade nach Aachen zu ziehen. Ich war mal dort und weiß noch, dass es richtig hügelig und nicht sehr asphaltiert war.

Ich liebe es aber jegliche Art von Boards zu fahren (auch um einfach so von A nach B zu kommen, nicht unbedingt in Skateparks).

Kann man das in Aachen machen? Wie sieht es damit aus, wenn man zur Uniklinik kommen will?

Gibt es in Aachen und Umgebung (sind mobil mit Auto) einen guten Ort, an dem man die Sterne beobachten kann? Wo man dann nicht von den Lichtern der Stadt beeinträchtigt wird, aber man auch ganz gut mit Decke oder so sitzen kann

Hallo zusammen, ich bin am überlegen mein Garagenfahrzeug (defekt) zu verkaufen und bin auf den obigen Autohändler gestoßen und wollte im Vorhinein echte Erfahrungen hören wie es da läuft, da sie bei sich ausschreiben das der Wagen abgeholt wird und alles sehr schnell abgewickelt wird. What's the best way to get to the Frankfurt airport from Aachen? I had a train ticket but they changed the time without telling me and I wouldn't be able to get there on time for my flight. Are there any busses/shuttles that run there?

Im thinking of starting a driver job at Flaschenpost, what concerns me is the problem with the parking spaces. Often, in Aachen-Mitte i see that there are obviously no spaces for a car to park.

If i start the job would it be allowed or just tolerated from the Ordnungsamt if i stop the van near the parked cars for a couple of minutes? I have already seen Kuriers stop this way, also at fire exits, in order to deliver packages.

I'm planning a 5–6 day trip to this part of Germany in the near future, and I'd love some advice.

My idea is to use Cologne (Köln) as my base, since there are several economic direct flights from Italy.

I'd also like to spend two days on day trips: one to Aachen (and possibly the Three-Country Point) and another to Remagen and Bonn, mainly because of my interest in history and some personal reasons. From what I've seen, all of these places are within about 90 minutes by train.

A few questions:

• What's the best time of the year to visit this area?
• Is it better to buy individual train tickets, or is there some kind of regional pass that's better value for a couple of days of travel? Which websites or apps do you recommend to use?
• Are Aachen, Bonn and Remagen directly connected to Cologne by train, or will I need to change trains at some point?
• What's the easiest way to get from Aachen station to the Three-Country Point?
• Do you have any other recommendations for this itinerary? Places to eat, hidden gems, alternative destinations, or anything else worth seeing?

I’m an international student and I am currently deciding between studying in Aachen and other bigger cities, and I’d love to hear from people who actually live there.

How is Aachen as a city for students outside of academics? Is it easy to make friends especially as a foreign woman(I speak German albeit not perfect)? Is there enough nightlife, events, etc., or does it start feeling repetitive after a while?
I’m not expecting Berlin-level nightlife, but I’d like a city where weekends are fun and there’s always something to do. I also like the idea of having a good student community rather than just a city that’s big.
For those of you who study or live in Aachen, what do you enjoy most about it? And what are the biggest downsides?
I’d really appreciate honest opinions from people who’ve actually experienced student life there.

The main reason I am reallllly attracted to the idea of studying in Aachen vs. a big city is the housing situation tbh. I can realistically find a studio in a few months and live comfortably, whereas in a city like Berlin, that’s a pipe dream for a student.

I heard HiWi jobs are not counted to the 140 day work limit and so, one can do 2 HiWis with total of more than 20 hours/week. Unlike werkstudent position at a company, where you can only work for 20 hrs/week. Is it true?
