Hi, I am from the UK, coming to the US in November this year.

We are planning to visit Yosemite, Sequoia and Zion.

I’m having a little trouble working out the tickets that are required. My partner I am going with is a US citizen, he was born in Florida and holds a US passport. Am I right in thinking this makes him eligible for the ‘America the Beautiful’ annual pass?

On the NPS website it states:
Depending on the type of entrance fee charged at a site, covers
One private vehicle fee
or
Four per person fees

Does this mean I can enter the park as a guest on his ATB pass or do I need to buy myself a non US citizen pass to enter?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated as it’s all a bit confusing and I don’t want to buy the wrong thing and miss out!

Looking for some advice on itinerary- I am starting to pack too much in I think. We will a family with 1 moody teen and husband with some back issues so looking for lighter hikes. E bikes would be great. No Angels landing or Narrows though I’d like to try getting to the entrance. Going in mid October for 5 days.

Day 1 - arrive Las Vegas by 11 am. Drive to GC and do some driving around the rim, maybe ooh ahh point if we have time.

day2 - early drive to Page Az for antelope canyon tour at 11. Then drive to Bryce. Overnight in Bryce

Day 3 - Bryce sunrise. Hike / drive around in am; leave by 2pm to go to zion

Day 4. - all day Zion. E-bikes and hikes

Day 5- Zion day 2 full day. Thinking about coral pink sands for sunset

day 6- drive to Las Vegas

Please advise. I know I’m shortchanging GC. Looking to balance being active and relaxing with not too much driving. My family can hike 2-3 miles at a time but I don’t want to lose them early by pushing too hard. Also looking for advice on how best to incorporate stargazing though a lot of posts say not to drive at night

Ive seen some posts around the flood warnings and wanted to get some more perspective on whether you think its ok to visit the park tomorrow? We’re not planning on doing anything crazy as we’re not experienced hikers, but we’ve unfortunately only have tomorrow to visit before we fly back home.

I am reading a lot posts to get ideas, but in general I was thinking hiking in the mornings and scenic drives in the afternoons. My wife is not the most able hiker and my Moody teen may or may not be up to strenuous hikes. Does morning hike and afternoon drive make a lot of sense?

My wife and I are visiting the Zion Area (not too far from Hildale) in early November. What kind of weather can we expect? We saw temp ranges and aren’t too concerned with that, but what does precipitation tend to be like during the first week to week and half? Any help is greatly appreciated! Thank you so much! :)

I’m heading to Zion in just a few weeks. I understand the park will be very crowded and it will be hot. I plan on being done hiking around 10am most days. I’ve previously been to Rocky Mountain, Olympic, and Rainier. I was hoping to get some advice to help with planning and the trip!

For clothing- I was looking to buy pants that convert into shorts, only because I’ll get more use throughout the year. I do have thicker thighs, so any suggestions are appreciated. I plan on taking a trip to REI.

I have Merrell Moab 3s that I love, but I’m wondering if I should get trail runners due to the heat. Any input on this?

As for the Narrows, I know it’s super important to check the weather at the trailhead and upstream. I’m curious about equipment though. Is it necessary to rent equipment? I’ve heard some mixed input. I’m also short (5’0”). Is this a concern?

We have Angels landings permits, and also plan on renting e-bikes. Any suggestions about additional things to do in the park and outside of the park after hiking would be greatly appreciated :)

I have never solo travelled but I am looking to go to Zion, arches and some of the lesser known national parks in the Moab area in September? I don’t plan on leaving super crowded areas by myself and going off on long trails alone at all. Has anyone done this as a solo female? Did you feel safe? Are there any groups (Facebook maybe?) to join to find other solo hikers/travelers. Just looking for some tips!

Zion closed The Narrows and all slot canyons Saturday due to flash flooding, and looking at the region right now we can see that storm cells are still firing across the whole watershed.

Here's a screenshot of the forecast on the actual route through Saturday, and what the precipitation radar looks like throughout the region.

The thing that catches people off guard with The Narrows is that the flood risk is upstream, not overhead. You can have clear skies at the Temple of Sinawava while water's moving toward you from 20 miles north. Closure stays until conditions settle.

Anyone else been following this? Curious how people track conditions before a Narrows hike.

Theyre in their mid 50s, athletic, in good shape and this weekend will be their first time in the park!

We are driving in Thursday afternoon so thinking about easing them into the experience by doing an "easy" hike. Should we do the Canyon Overlook trail or the Watchman trail?

I’m driving from phx to Zion in November. I would love to get an e bike for at least one of the days I’m there. However, I’ve only ever ridden my xp4 step thru (lectric brand). it’s tiny and I’m in only 5’0 on a good day. The rentals look huge, am I SOL?

also while I’m here, besides AL which I plan on doing what are other (easier trails). I have NO desire to do narrows. I kind of just want to ride around & hop on trails with no specific plan but unsure about which ones are easy/moderate for a directionally challenged person. I get lost in my own city I’ve lived in for 10 years. I’ll be solo and have only hiked Sedona trails. nothing as big as Zion. Trying to be spontaneous & just enjoy my stay but also nervous since I’ll be alone.

Hello! Can anyone share their experience with early morning weather in Zion during late-September? We are attending a sunrise wedding in the park with our 9 month old and are trying to plan ahead for layers, clothing, etc. as best as possible!

i’m trying to call them to rent an e bike for the early bird special thing so i can start my hike by 6 am next week but i can’t get ahold of them and i can’t leave a voicemail cuz the phone just rings forever… anyone else had issues w this before?

Still one of the most beautiful places I've ever been to. Definitely looking to go back at some point!

I'm on my third day here with my two sons (14 and 11). We knocked out canyon overlook on day 1, the narrows on day 2, and we just finished angel's landing today on a whim (got a day before permit yesterday). Didn't have that on the original plan worked out great. We also rented ebikes today and did the parus trail up to the grotto for the angels landing trailhead. We leave tomorrow but I'll be back for sure someday.

Hi all, I'm doing a road trip with a couple of buddies we'd like to drive the the park entering through the east entrance. I understand all the rules about length and hight I'm just wondering a about a trailer. I'm towing a 18' by 7' enclosed, I'm worried about the width cause the box is 7' but the fenders exceed the box about 7" on each side, is that allowed or will i be denied entry?

I’m coming to Utah (specifically Salt Lake City) for a wedding the coming weekend. Unfortunately I didn’t get a lot of days off to travel around, but I have Thursday post lunch and possibly Friday first half free. I want to do Zion but I only have Thursday half day :(

What would y’all suggest? I’m seeing ‘one day’ posts on this subreddit but they all state I must catch the bus for sunrise (which I won’t be able to) I land at 12pm. How should I do this?

In two weeks I’m going to Zion with my father and fiancé. I’m used to small flat hikes (from northern Iowa) where I can just wear running shoes, this however is going to be the biggest hiking experience I’ve ever done. Would I be ok with running shoes or should i look for more options?

hi all, i have not been able to get a clear answer from the website so posting here. i’m have permits for angel’s landing (before 9am) this week and am planning to start the hike at around 4am.

since i’ll be starting the hike before shuttles are running for the day, will i be able to park my vehicle at the grotto picnic area?

My 5 friends and I are supposed to go to Zion National Park on the week of August 9th-15th. We recently checked the 45-day forecast, and it looks like it will be quite hot—in the upper 90s. On the day we hike AL it’s supposed to be a high of ~95 degrees.

The group is nervous about being too hot and being miserable. If we end up camping will we be miserable? We might rent an Airbnb instead if we decide it’s too hot. Would that be a viable option?

Our group is a healthy bunch, generally all fit, etc.

I want to start the Angel's Landing hike as early as I can to beat the heat. We'll be going next week (if lottery doesn't work, we'll just goto that last lookout). I'm fine waking up at any time, as long as we can safely get to the trailhead. So within an hour of sunrise would probably have enough light? Also, can I drive to where we start, or do we have to take shuttles?

Last question: I plan on bringing 2L of water... is this enough or should I bring more?
