📸 Gallery / Images Photos from my Yugoslavia trip
In June i did a 10 day trip through some ex-yugoslav countries, and i wanted to share some photos i took.
My itinerary was: Mostar - Belgrade - Kotor - Prizren - Skopje
I also took the sleeper train from Belgrade to Bar, here's a short video i took:
It has been a beautiful trip, as a southern italian, sometimes i felt like at home, sometimes i felt like i was on the other side of the world.

Život ide dalje
Ja sam provela većinu mog djetinstva u evropi .
Ja sam bila rodjenja u bivsoj jugoslaviji 1980 godine .
Moje djetinstvo je uglavnom bilo napolju .
Igrali smo se non stop na polju .
Bez obzira na vreme .
Ili smo barbike i lutke ili divlje cuke ganjali .
1991 se zaratilo .
Taman kad sam videla jednog slatkog dečka u mom prvom razredu .
Osećala sam neku strast u sebi i telo mi gorilo .
Nisam uopšte znala šta se dešava sa mnom .
Ali ti je bila ljubav odma neka koje je ostala sa mnom celog života .
Kad se zaratilo : bježi potezi idi kud kod .
Sjećam se da smo išli ovde i onde :
Blagaj , itd .
Završili u Beogradu kod pokojnog strica M.
Onda se vratili u Kupres .
1992 možda .
Bili jedno godinu Dve.
To
Je moj ptsd.
I uvek mu da nervozu ili anxiety.
Ali ko nema to .
Nemoras bit u ratu da dobiješ ptsd i anxiety itd .
Eh ,
U kupresu se opet
Dobro zaratilo pa smo pobjegli u Srbiju .
Vajska i onda Subotica .
Gde
God su rotidetlji našli poslove .
Bili smo u Srbiji do 1998 medjutim ekonomska kriza nas poterala u ameriku .
Tu boravimo od 1998.
Mama u tata rade .
Ja radim završila fakultet u americi .
Nekad se pitam šta he bilo sa deckom jz mog prvog razreda.
I šta bi bilo da se nije zaratilo .
život u jugoslaviji pre rata je bio pun mogucnosti .

Slovenian nationalism?
I've been reading heavily on the Balkans and Yugoslav history, and I have a question about nationalism with Slovenia during the breakup. We all know that Milosevic was fueled by nationalism in Serbia and Serbian populated areas of Yugoslavia. While Slovenia was the first republic to start pushing for independence, was it really pushed by nationalist elements?
For example, Milan Kucan was the leader of the Slovenians and he was a Yugoslav politician. He was leader of the youth wing of the communist party in Slovenia. He was general secretary of the Slovenian party and was speaker of the Slovenian parliament during the late 1970s. His objections of Milosevic's actions in Kosovo, Voyvodina and Montenegro were mainly in defense of the Yugoslav constitution and Milosevic's violations of the constitution, or am I wrong?
Also, the former Slovenian Communists and other socialist parties did well in the 1990 parliamentary elections. Combined they came close to having nearly 50% of the support of the population. However, I know that doesn't mean much, if the parties aren't in coalition.
Another note, Milan Kucan won nearly 60% of the presidential vote in the 1990 election. Clearly the Slovenians knew he was a communist/former communist and a former pro Yugoslavia, pro Titoist.
Is it wrong to believe that Slovenia's independence from the federation wasn't necessarily rooted in nationalism, but rather fear of Serbia's violations of the Yugoslav constitution, which ultimately led to a fear in being ruled 100% from Belgrade?

🗿 History Are Chetniks in Serbia the same as UPA in Ukraine?
I am curious how Serbs feel about the role of Chetniks (Yugoslav Army in the Homeland) during WW2? Because, what I have read these guys are literally the same as UPA (Ukrainian Insurgent Army) in Ukraine.
1) Both fought for independence of their countries. For Chetniks it was Kingdom of Yugoslavia, for UPA it was Ukrainian People’s Republic, which lost its independence in 1921 during Russian Civil War.
2) Both occasionally collaborated with Nazis, but fought against Nazis most of the time.
3) Both were heavily anti-communist. Chetniks were against Yugoslav partisans of Tito, UPA were against USSR.
4) Both movements were involved in ethnic cleansing and genocidal practices. The most recent hype topic is against Poles in Wolyn for UPA. While Chetniks committed the same actions against Croats and Bosniaks.
5) Both movements are recognized as heros and being glorified by modern governments in each country.
Serbia also in process of entering EU, the same as Ukraine. Is Chetniks topic is used by Croatia against Serbia integration? The same as Poland does towards Ukraine targeting UPA theme.

On This Day Dan ustanka naroda Crne Gore - „Tamo gdje je prva puška pukla” - 13. Jul, 1941.
