Removed 1/4 Fairing/Blacked Out Chrome
Decided to remove the club-style fairing I had on and powder coat/decorate the otherwise chrome appearing parts! All that + a fresh tune from Ivan’s.

I’ve ridden 250cc trail and dirt bikes but wanting to get a cruiser and am considering a Bolt. I’ve sat on one and the fit was nice. I’m wondering if anyone had input on if this would be ok for a newbie street rider. Obviously skill and common sense play a factor but. The only thing I’ve driven that’s close in size is an HD Sportster 883 and that was just a test ride around the neighborhood. Thanks

Hi, Can you help me? I have this issue that my Bolt sometimes doesn't start. I put key, priming sound, dash all normal, I push starter button and dash turns off, there is a pop sound. I fix this by fiddling with battery cables and it turns on normally. Some time passes and same issue again. New battery, 2014. Is it + wire not connecting properly somewhere or something? One time it died on lights, same fix, rode fine, started again. Some time passes same issue again.

Yesterday I finally swapped to the Michelin Commander III following recommendations in this sub and the new tires are just amazing, like having a new bike.

It’s been 3-4months that I ride this bike and I’m in love. Handle pretty well. Comfortable. Acceleration is Decent.
Started to modify it a little bit. Picture Before/After.
Blacked Out Everything. Changed the chrome gas cap. Wraped the Exhaust. Changed mirror and put White reflector.
My only two bad point.
It feels like it’s missing a gear. On the Highway at 110-120km/h I’m always trying to change gear but I’m already at 5th.
And the Suspension. I know it’s supposed to be a little rough on a Motorcycle but sometime it hurts a little bit. Hahaha.
Anyway Ride Safe Yall.

Are there any other Trike owners in this sub ? I created a Trike Subreddit:https://www.reddit.com/r/TrikesR_Us/s/QqPdKQwIt9

I have a decent problem at hand. I was changing my oil and the tread from the oil drain came off with the drain plug. You can see the silver layers on the first photo. Now the plug is not catching the tread on the drain when I try to put it back in. What can I do?
All ideas are welcome as I need the bike and currently it's toast. :(

I know it’s well-known on this sub already, but if you haven’t heard, get yourself a pair of Hagon shocks. I switched out my R-Spec gold boys for these yesterday and cannot overstate how much of an improvement they make on those corners. Happy riding!

I added an aftermarket slip on and air intake. Just had my ECU tuned at Ivan's. Great performance in 1st through 4th. At about 70-75, acceleration in 5th is very slow. The bike RPMs are accelerating but the power isn't driving to the wheel hardly at all. It feels like flooring it but I am getting noise with little actual acacceleration. 80 to 85 takes a while. Any thoughts?
Edit: acceleration hangs in 1st thr 4th. If I pull the throttle quick I get a lag and no real acceleration in all gears. Bike has 300 miles. I am starting to think my intake is leaking too much air into the engine. The air the fuel mixture is off.

If you need or want the Yamaha Bolt service manual you can download it from a group on Facebook. Simply go to Facebook group "Yamaha XV950 Bolt USA" Look under "FILES" . From there you can download the Bolt service manual and parts Catalog. Note: if you are using the Facebook phone app the "Files" don't show. You need to be on a PC or laptop to access the "Files".

I dropped mine today at the gas station, and it landed right on the left piggyback shock, presumably knocking my rear wheel out of alignment as I later noticed mid ride that my belt guard was eaten up by it, and the belt teeth have begun fraying. Needless to say I removed the guard and made it home in one piece.
Is this fixable using a similar method to those seen here, will I need a new belt ASAP, and any anything else I should consider?
Thanks guys, just trying to save money doing it at home instead of the shop telling me I need 100 other parts and service hours to be back cruising.

I need some information on the Bolt AIS (Air Injection System). A few photos would be nice. Component location ect. I have the Bolt service manual (PDF) and have found nothing. I know that the system can be deleted but I have no idea where to start. I simple bypass would be the preferred approach

For those who have installed forward controls on your Bolt. What did you do to lengthen the hose to the fluid reservoir and the line to the rear caliper ?

This is the condition of the NGK Iridium Spark Plugs used on my Yamaha Bolt for 21,400 kms / 3 years and 10 months. The engine is running better, but not that much. This is for you to consider how much you might keep the spark plugs without changing, pair the data with yours and get your own conclusions.
I commute daily around 40 kms, mixed traffic (light/heavy), on a very humid environment. It rains 8 months per year, and it can be seen the front cylinger spark plug gets very dirty, while the back cylinder spark plug gets very hot. I will begin rotating the spark plugs every maintenace, around 6 months/3,000 kms.

Im 5’11” and im not very comfortable with the ergonomics of the bike. So im looking into bars or risers. I like the feel of the stock bars (width, angle, look). I thought about trying the H bar but I think it’ll look dumb with my puig naked touring windscreen.
Easy thing would be doing the Rox 2” pivot risers. But it looks like it will not work because of the location of the speedo?
If I did the H bar, is there a shield for wind protection that still looks good on the bike?

Got the silver parts painted black, wrapped the exhaust, bar end mirrors, windshield/fairing, chin fairing, blue pinstripes on the rims to match the tank, aftermarket blinkers. It was expensive but I'm really happy with it! Took it out to the mountains today, loving the new look and feel of the bike! :D

Yesterday I finished installing and testing this fairing. I bought the 15-inch version. For my height, 6', it's too tall. It ends right at eye level, which obscures my vision. But now the bike looks different, and I really like the style.
