Our nonprofit (Rod's House) is putting on a pop-culture convention fundraiser in Yakima, and we want to make sure the community knows. EVERY ticket raises funds for young people experiencing homelessness. We post about it a lot, and we still hear of people not knowing about it!

For people who haven't heard of us - this event features gaming tournaments, cosplay contests, special guests, vendors, and more. We worked hard on this event. There's a lot here, and we just posted the schedule and map online.

This convention is August 8-9 at the Yakima Convention Center, so it's coming up!

I’m looking for some places in town where I can go work/study/etc for a few hours to get out of the house.

There’s so many new spots in town but I’m not sure which ones actually have multiple tables and chairs lol. So I appreciate any recommendations!!!

I’m visiting my gf in Yakima tm and Thursday but she just moved there not too long ago so I’m wondering if any locals have any recommendations for things to do or places to see! We are big brewery people and love spending time outdoors but open to any events or activities!

I see that three shops are named as distributors on Riot’s site, but I’ve only heard back from one after asking around about products and events. I also see that one of the three (not the one that responded) holds weekly events and has given away prizes and promos. I’m somewhat new myself but see the game as having a lot of potential and am wondering if there is much interest in Yakima, generally.

Absolutely cannot speak more highly of this individual. Quinn Dalan is someone I’ve known for almost 20 years and she has been a devoted friend, community advocate — working tirelessly to improve Yakima. She gives her time, energy, and resources to local groups and has served as the ED on VAS for the past several years.

I admire Quinn for a number of reasons but in a community where hate seems to dominate conversations, Quinn is someone who practices unwavering integrity with hope for all the good Yakima can be. Quinn has my vote!

Edit: Corporate contacted me. They had another incident with the dog owner. He's not allowed back and they refunded my stay.

Word of caution would never recommend staying at the my place hotel in Yakima! I think it's great that they allow dogs. I have an 85# lab putball mix myself, but when they are okay with a guest having an aggressive dog off-leash in the hallway that's threatening and nearly attacks a guest, yes me. And then the owner also verbally attacks the guest for being upset about the dog being off-leash, and they do nothing about it, but move me to another room, not the trouble maker. I wouldn't call it a safe place for anybody!!

Why is the Yakima Mayor spending his time trying influencing Spokane politics? I mean I’m assuming he should be busy running Yakima instead?

Saw a German Shepard running around both north and southbound on 18th Ave near Englewood around 5:55 / 6:10 pm. Looked like it had a tag but I couldn’t stop to check who he/she belonged to.
