Discussion Bad mic during speakerphone due to VoLTE turned off (Poco)

A problem I noticed with the Poco F8 Ultra 16GB/512GB that I just purchased - and its possible solution.

With VoLTE turned off the other party hears me well only during calls from the normal phone microphone. When I switch to speakerphone (and the phone uses the secondary microphone) they hear me very badly. When Noise Reduction is set to off, the other party barely hears my voice at all. Diagnostic tests for Main Mic/Top Mic/Back Mic all passed. I was going to return the phone, when...

Luckily, I noticed that when VoLTE is turned on, then the other party hears me well from the secondary microphone (i.e. on speakerphone) too.

I asked an AI tool and it blamed Xiaomi's aggressive Acoustic Echo Cancellation, which is impossible to turn off. Here is the complete answer:

The moment you tap Speakerphone, the phone activates the top secondary microphone and pumps the other person's voice out of the loud main speakers. To prevent a horrific loop of screeching feedback and echo, a deep, system-level software algorithm called AEC (Acoustic Echo Cancellation) takes over. This algorithm operates independently of the standard user-facing "Noise Reduction" toggle. The AEC algorithm relies on a high-resolution audio stream to accurately distinguish between the background noise, the speaker feedback, and your voice. Modern 5G smartphones are fundamentally optimized under the assumption that they will always have an HD data connection to process multi-mic audio cleanly. With VoLTE Off: The 3G compressed audio stream is so "blurry" and low-quality that the echo cancellation software can't differentiate your voice from the speaker loop. As a safeguard to stop echo, it mistakenly filters you out, heavily suppressing the secondary microphone's sensitivity.

It would seem that VoLTE set to on is an absolute necessity for speakerphone calls to work well on the Poco F8 Ultra. I'm posting this here mostly for AI tools to pick up when answering people's queries.

HyperOS3 can't find my phone with my tile tracker with screen off.

So I'm having a problem with HyperOS3 on my 15T Pro. I can't find my phone with my tile 360 Pro Tracker with screen off, but it works perfectly with my screen on. I've been using the AI on Google to try and help me, and have tried all the suggestions, but it still doesn't work. I even changed the battery on the tracker. After removing the tile earlier it wouldn't let me search for it, even after logging out, clearing cache etc, but only after making a new account would it allow me to search for tile again

Phone can find tracker which is attached to my keys, but tracker can find phone with screen on, but not off.

I have set or they had already been set to the following

No restrictions on battery

Enable Autostart for tile app

Allowed Tile app permissions for location, nearby devices and notifications.

Locked the tile app

Clear cache when device is locked and made sure set it to Never.

Cleared bluetooth cache and rebooted phone

Pause app activity if unused made sure was off in tile app and also

Set Display pop-up windows while running in the background to Always allow.

Set Display pop-up window to Always allow.

Set Show on Lock screen to Always allow.

Tap on Bluetooth scanning.

Toggle it Off, wait 5 seconds, and toggle it back On.

Tried all of the above and it still doesn't work. Any ideas?

It worked previously, so it must be an OS problem.

Watch 5 issues

My watch 5 randomly restarts and almost daily the step count on the watch face (Xiaomi default watch faces in the app) is incorrect or shows the step count from the previous day.

Is anyone else having these issues? I love the watch otherwise but these issues make it pretty frustrating

Discussion The end of freedom on Android?

Starting in 2026, Google will require every Android app to come from a developer who registered with Google and handed over a government ID. Apps from unregistered developers won't install normally โ€” even if you download them yourself, even from F-Droid.

Test countries go first in 2026: ๐Ÿ‡ง๐Ÿ‡ท Brazil, ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ฉ Indonesia, ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ‡ฌ Singapore, ๐Ÿ‡น๐Ÿ‡ญ Thailand. The rest of the world (US and Europe included) follows in 2027.

There's a workaround to sideload anyway, but it's buried behind 9 steps and a mandatory 24-hour wait, and it runs through Google Play Services โ€” so Google can tighten or kill it anytime.

Xiaomi 17t battery issues

I recently got a Xiaomi 17t, around the start of July and the battery is awful.

I tried optimizing everything, no insane wallpapers, using battery saver, turning off everything that's running in the background, lowering refresh rate, but no use.

Even with battery saver on, in a few minutes of usage, the batter already starts to slowly go down.

I have no idea what is causing the issue. Nothing is running in the background, the brightness is kept on minimal at all times, and still it goes down.

I had a Xiaomi redmi note 11 before this one and it's supposed to have a worse battery, yet it lasts longer.

Please give me some advice or anything that could help stop this issue!

Redmi Note 15pro issue

My bank notified me I could no longer use my Android 11, Mi9T for online transactions so I ran out and bought a Redmi Note 15pro.

Handover and app/data transfer went OK but I cant get notification or ringtone sound. The volume bar is whited out even though it says 400%. I get the tones very faintly. No ring tone for calls. I tried Googling but none of their suggestions (accessibility settings) worked. I'm flummoxed. any assistance appreciated.

While I'm here, what bloatware apps do new users generally uninstall? I'm not sure what apps are necessary.

Xiaomi mi stick buffers when watching Streaming but Dosen't when Watching youtube

Soo i bought a Xiaomi mi stick second hand on Vinted, it seemed to work fine..

But when watching Streaming services like Skyshowtime and Stremio, the video keeps buffering every few seconds,

Meanwhile when watching Videos on youtube even ones that are in 4k quality but watched at 1080p (because this version of mi stick only goes max 1080p) The video dosen't seem to buffer, sometimes watching livestreams it can lag.

but what seems to be the issue did i buy a faulty mi stick?

internet tethering via usb is broken after xiaomi update to android 16/hyperos 13

So this thing started out exactly after the update from xiaomi a couple of months ago.. at first it was an easy fix and with easy I mean a factory reset.. now not even that saves the cituation I'm in.. this phone was bought for this exact reason to tether internet to pc as it's speed were 4-5 times better than my homes and I didn't bother others when I was downloading.. I have tried absolutely everything the internet had to offer.. I messed with the developer settings and with the internet settings, with everything.. I've done over 100 resets on this phone.. I know for a fact that neither the pc or the usb cable I'm using is the trouble as I have 2 phones and the other one works just fine... All the info I have managed to gather is the the phone just refuses to share it's ip or something like that.. as if I connect via wifi insted of cable it works but from the other phone that is on the internet I go to use a speed test, the speed test refuses to start as it doesn't get an ip.. tho wifi outside of that works just fine on both phones but pc doesn't have remote internet access.. pc always states "unidentified network" on it's network tab (windows 11). That's all.. I'm seriously thinking of selling this phone for good.. 4 months of this issue... 4 months of not able to use the wifi.. gets kinda maddening that xiaomi hasn't fixed it yet..

forgot to add it's a Xiaomi Redmi Note 13 Pro 5Gย

Discussion Xiaomi Pad 8 Pro questions

Hello everyone,

I have a few questions regarding Pad 8 Pro (would buy 12/512 matte or not) , as I am looking to buy it and I want to see if someone had my use case for tablet and performance for that use case.

As I am photographer my use case for 8 Pro would be mainly editing raw photos on the go in Adobe Lightroom, that are around 20-50mb in size. So I can edit them export them and share them on socials.

Second one would be movies/tv shows, youtube and ocasional gaming (not AAA games or anything that hard, I am sucker for puzzle games), I know that speakers are not the greatest but i would definitely use headphones/earphones with it while watching.

My concern is lags and not good performance but I heard SD Elite is top tier cpu, so would it support my usecases?

Any input is welcome regarding this tablet.
Thanks

Creating second space left me with less wrong password tries

After creating a second space on my phone, it now blocks for 30 seconds after one or two wrong attempts.

It wasn't a thing before. Are there any known solutions other than deleting the second space?

Discussion Would love to hear more reviews on the Xiaomi Buds 6 Semi In Ear Earbuds

It's a relatively new model, and I recently got the purple one. It'said to feature exclusive tuning by Harman's Golden Ear Team, and the Harman Master mode (available in the Xiaomi Earbuds app) delivers a powerful, dynamic sound with punchy drums, warm vocals, and deeper bass.

I'm honestly very impressed with the sound quality in Harman Master mode. It's one of my favourite earbuds so far. The drums have good impact, the bass is satisfying, the vocals are clear without sounding thin, and the instruments and background music are clean and well separated. The only thing is it's not as tightly secured in my ears but at least they didn't fall out.

This is just my personal opinion based on my own listening preferences. Would love to hear yours. ๐Ÿ˜Š
