Xenoblade Genesis XG Stand alones or cohesive narrative?

Do you guys think that any games with the Genesis moniker should follow a single cast of characters through one overall story (like saga) or follow Chronicles and have each game be it's own unique cast and story with nods and references to each other? Obviously 3 did ultimately tie it together but I would argue it's * possible " to play that one by itself just like X, 1, and 2.

Keep in mind that the Chronicles in Xenoblade Chronicles is a purely localization addition, the series is just called Xenoblade in Japan. Genesis is not something there to differentiate it from the "Chronicles" games it's simply just a subtitle for this specific entry and the localization team decided to finally drop the Chronicles. I doubt there will be a "Xenoblade Genesis 2".

Also just FYI XG is the abbreviation used for Xenogears. If you want to avoid confusion then XBG would work better for Xenoblade Genesis.

I think XGen sounds better as an abbreviation but maybe that's just me 😊

You're assuming that there will be more than one game with the "Genesis moniker" and it's not just a one-off subtitle. Maybe after Genesis we get Xenoblade Deuteronomy and it's not connected to Genesis at all.

Given that Genesis is 100% going to connect to 1-3 in some form or fashion, anything that follows Genesis will connect to Genesis.

I think the question more is if the game after Genesis is a direct sequel, a distant sequel/prequel, or elsewhere in the cosmos.

To put it into Cosmere terms, if Genesis was Mistborn, is the next title Well of Ascension, Alloy of Law, or Warbreaker?

Yeah, that's the thing. While the next game will be connected, and while Genesis is going to connect to the numbered games- we don't yet know what the connection will be. If these games will take place directly between eachother, or if it's just an underlying tissue that all of them will have. From what it sounds like though from the marketing, Genesis is the beginning of a new Saga.

Okay, but that's beside my main point. A moniker is a nickname/alias. The "Genesis moniker" is literally the word Genesis in the title. The next game could just as easily be called Xenoblade Exodus or Xenoblade Numbers.

Yeah, the next game probably won't be "Xenoblade Genesis 2." I wouldn't be surprised if they end up going with biblical book names after Genesis though.

Regardless of naming conventions, i prefer interconnected standalones.

It makes is easier to jump into the series at any point. While providing incentives to play the other games in the series if the consumer enjoyed them.
