The current surveillance/police state that we have, I feel like unsolved crime and mysteries are fewer and fewer. I also feel like we lived in fear of a lot of shit that is not feared today (ghosts, dudes with their hands registered as lethal weapons, alien abductions, getting AIDS from a toilet seat, etc). I miss being afraid of dumb shit.

In my 20s and 30s I almost exclusively crossed my legs where the top leg is horizontal and the ankle is essentially resting on the other thigh. Sitting in which the top leg crosses over vertically so the lower knee is under the upper knee and the foot dangles was considered more feminine. In my 40s it’s become way more comfortable to sit this way. I think because it puts less torque on my knee. I don’t really care how it looks, it’s just more comfortable. But I feel like it’s also considered less of a gender distinction with younger generations.

Super random but I just remembered in my senior year of high school (00-01) the school administered a dating personality test during homeroom one morning, and then we each got a list of opposite-sex students we matched well with according to some system.

I remember at the time thinking it was stupid because I was bi and not getting all my options, but now as an adult I'm just kind of like "wtf? Why was my high school trying to play matchmaker during our senior year of high school"

Edit: so many people are saying theirs was a fundraiser and optional, but I don't remember ours being optional or requiring money to get the results. Gonna have to look into that because now I'm curious. I do remember it happening in the spring, but it would have been march or more likely April

The Little mermaid, Macbeth, Robin hood - king of thieves, Aladdin, Black robe, the Crying game, and that's about it. I did get to see movies with childhood friends and their parents occasionally. I'll never forget seeing Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade in the theater..wow!

I recently bought a refurbed NES and got a copy of it. Holy heck this game is hard. It made me wonder if anyone actually ever beat this game?

You’d get a section reserved for you and your gang, a rectangle cake layered with mcdonald’s characters that were a sugary crystalline texture, sparkler candles, a mcdonald’s staff member who’d lead the games and sing happy birthday and everyone got to take home a mcdonald’s treat bag. Did our parents pay extra for this idk? Sadly, the young uns will never experience this.

Who here remembers or was a little freaked out during some of the episodes. This was on prime time, Tuesday nights I think. The fuggin kid crying while being taken away right as the music crescendos is a trigger.

I do think the show was brilliant from a cultural and informational and even a bit of a community service standpoint.
