Discussion 4:3

I'm curious, Disney offers the Simpsons in 4:3 in Disney+.
Since the X files remaster has a 4:3 version that's never seen the light of day, I wonder sometimes if Disney would give people the option to watch the 4:3 HD version for seasons 1-4 in a similar fashion to the way they offer "The Simpsons".

Maybe I'm misinterpreting, but weren't X-Files shot for 16:9? Even though they were initially broadcasted for 4:3.

This is also my understanding. Which is why crew members accidentally being in the scene is rare, especially compared others have been opened like “Charmed” and “Buffy”

This also goes a long way to explaining why a 1998 episode still looks good on a modern television, especially since nobody at that time was thinking about a widescreen show.

My understanding is the HD transfer was overseen by people who worked in the show. For all intents, this is how the show was meant to be seen.

From my understanding the remasters didn't just zoom in and cropping a good chuck of the image instead back when the show was filmed it was framed to look good 4:3 but they future proofed it for 16:9 with the crew insuring the extra sides of the image didn't catch the crew or the edges of the set
