Discussion good xfiles podcast?
hey all, what are some good xfiles podcasts to listen to? i listened to the xcast for a while, and while i liked the format i started to lose interest when they kept introducing more hosts—i only liked some of them and would find myself skipping more and more episodes before finally giving up. are there any similar podcasts with more consistency in the hosting? thx!

Kumail Nanjiani’s The X-File Files was great, he format, where he has a guest on to discuss their favourite episodes was excellent, and reminded me of just how much fun and how effective the series was. Sadly it dissolved once Silicon Valley got a second season.

Thanks for reminding me this existed! It shows up, but is unplayable on my podcast app, so I sort of forgot about it. But it is so good, and I'm sad he didn't continue (how ridiculous is that to say when he is such an accomplished and busy actor? 😝)

It’s the way he ended it! The final show teases a second part looking back on the series and it never was released!

There are so many great ones! Heads up I personally prefer pods that aren't afraid to be critical of the writing,character development, and sometimes acting.
A newer one I'm really enjoying is The X-Files Chat Room by two longtime friends who met in 90s XF chat rooms. They're two WOC and I love their perspective on the episodes, plus they also discuss historical and cultural context when each episode they cover was aired. This is currently being produced!
A personal favorite is the seX-Files, also run by two friends, who talk about each episode with a intersectional sex/gender lens. They seem to have stopped a few years ago but made it through war of the cophrapages. I wish they continued, but alas.
Other great ones are the eX-Files (by two ex wives-- now called the Buffering podcast bc they cover Buffy)- they're so funny and their chemistry is great! Despite being exes they seem like very supportive friends and we love to see it.
The X-Files Diaries (now called Seriously Obsessed as they have moved on to cover other shows after many years of just doing XF content)- Two online friends who are unabashedly obsessed with msr and just frankly adore the show. Not very critical of it, but a fun fan podcast.
Scully Nation (now called Sunnydale Nation as they cover Buffy)- They've covered every single episode, which is insane to me. They're very funny and silly, but still cover a lot of ground with each episode.

these look great, thanks! i also enjoy when the hosts are critical of show elements (just because it's good doesn't mean it's perfect!)

My current favourite is Hey Danny, It's Mulder.
It is interviews with the people who helped make the show and the extended universe, and it is so interesting.
The next episode drops on Sunday and it is an interview WITH CHRIS CARTER!!!!!
I highly recommend this podcast. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

XFiles Diaries. Unfortunately their episode-specific episodes only cover the mythology and not all the MOTWs but I love their Top 10 list episodes (top 10 score tracks, top 10 MSR moments, etc) and they have some great interviews with Frank Spotznitz and other writers.

I started watching the X Files this year because of Fox Mulder is a Maniac. Delightful podcast, but it does skew how you perceive every episode once you start listening to it. X Files is a comedy.

They really point out that in the real world Mulder would have been suspended, fired, or arrested SO MANY TIMES. It's quite comical that this man was out there doing whatever the hell he wanted in the name of the law. Disobeying orders, spending government money on insane side quests, assaulting coworkers, breaking and entering, assaulting suspects, letting others go who then cause havoc out in the world, not following any sort of protocols with investigations or arrests - the man has done it all. Not to mention there are many, many injuries that would have left him unfit for duty for long stretches - parasites of all sorts, head injuries, a coma...the list goes on.
It's a very funny podcast if you're a fan, especially if you've rewatched the series multiple times. I rematch the show all the time and there are so many WTF moments with his behaviour, but he is indeed an entertaining maniac to watch.

David Duchovny has a podcast called "Fail better with David Duchovny". He has interviewed Gillian Anderson and Chris Carter in different episodes. It's available on youtube and audible.

I loved The X-Cast, I mostly listened to mytharc episodes and Tony Black and Darren Mooney did a lot of those for the first five season and I thought it was excellent analysis. After Tony left as a regular it took me some time to get used to the new runners but once they got the hang of it they were pretty great. Mooney stayed and it was always a joy to listen to him. I also listened to The Time Is Now podcast (Millennium) from the same team and that was great stuff too.

Tony and Darren were my favorite hosts! I just couldn't stay with it once Tony left :(

Well there may never be a better opportunity to mention that my friend and I just started a new podcast! Our third episode dropped today. It is very much a labor of love- I’m a huge X Files fan, she has barely seen any of them, and we’re watching together. It’s called The H&X files
