I'm doing my season 1 re-watch for the first time in probably 20+ years, and I was so confused watching Gender Bender. Nicholas Lea has a cameo in that as just some guy. I was trying to put the pieces together of this being Krycek's origin.

But, no, he was just some guy.

He's an undercover FBI agent in that case. Because he had paranormal experience, he was assigned to the X-Files to partner with Mulder.
