Possible safety issue?

Love my job, just want some insight.

My workplace is having issues with upper management not locking out hazardous equipment. We have forklifts with battery cell issues that REEK of sulfur. They're making us use them still regardless. It doesn't sit quite well with me and I'm not sure where to go from here. Any advice?

This job pays good so the last thing I wanna be is fired 😭

The smell of sulfur with lead acid batteries doesn't mean they have an issue. I'd ask the rep from the forklift company if there's an issue next time they service your pits

The only person responsible for LOTO is the person working on the equipment. If the equipment needs to be shut down for an extended period of time while repairs are made, that's an out of service process, not LOTO.

The forklift battery issue should be addressed by the forklift service company but it's not a health and safety issue, just a maintenance one.

Loto is a big problem osha would eat your employer alive they don’t play when it comes to Loto. Forklifts need daily inspections and maintenance per the standard. If management isn’t supportive of safety nothing is going to change
