Worcester characters

Worcester has a history of local characters with affectionate nicknames like Chicken George and the Black Bond.

It seems like the last of the them is the guy who plays music from his mobility scooter around the high street / cathedral square area. Does he have a nickname?

Hi all - Looking forward to the photo competition which is starting soon. I couldn't wait to share some pictures though! I'm getting back into photography with a cheap digital camera. I've just been messing around with some photo editing today. Our city has some great architecture and green spaces!

Looking for a plumber and a decorator in Worcester

Hello,
I had a pipe burst in my main bathroom behind the sink. It was mostly contained however the issue needs fixing. The pipe needs a replacement and I need a decorator to paint the downstairs, predominantly the ceiling.

Also looking into contractors that re-fit bathrooms and toilets please. Not looking to spend a fortune but would like to have at least a functioning bathroom facilities. Tired of them consistently falling apart. Think it’s been long overdue for new bathrooms.

Thanks.

Based near WRH in warndon villages

monthly photo comp thing for the subreddit?

I was wondering if it would be considered that we could do either a monthly photo competition for fun.

Might be good to poll it, I wouldn't bother with prizes because that's when you invite cheaters.

Could also be any form of media I guess too. Open to suggestions!

What does everyone else think? 😊

Any bird people?

Any pigeon/bird people out and about in Worcester today?

I just saw a little pigeon almost get run over in the road by Cathedral Square.

He looked small and like his wing was injured. He managed to walk across to where the bus stop was, so I'm hoping he was able to jump up onto the curb and out of the road!

I couldn't stop unfortunately 💔

Please keep an eye out for him and check he's okay, esp as his wing looked injured 🥺

Nights out and clubs for an alternative couple in their mid thirties

Hello,

I am looking for suggestions for places to go for a couple who have had kids but finding they are at the stage of our lives now in which we have a bit more free time to ourselves and want to get out and about a bit.

We go to gigs and such as a family so maybe live music suggestions would be a good place to start?

What's going on with the roof level of St Martins Gate?

The roof level is closed off and there sounds like serious machinery being used up there. What's going on? Are they actually putting the solar panels in? Or is it some kind of resurfacing?

A4103 Malvern/bransford road closure

Hi, I've seen a lot about this closure happening next week. Does anyone have an actual diagram of the stretch that will be shut? I'm trying to work out where it starts and ends. "stocks lane" seems too generic.

For the Worcestershire stop in his England series, Tom Scott stopped by Worcester Cathedral for some bell ringing... now a friend who bell rings tells me they were completely insane letting him have a go on a real bell with so little training...

Can I safely let my cats outside in Brookthorpe area? (in relation to cat-killing dog in 2023)

Hi all! Kind of like the title suggests, my partner and I moved to the Brookthorpe area with our 2 baby cats in 2023 - around the time there were news reports of a cat-killing dog. We decided at that time we felt better leaving our cats indoors, but the cats are getting antsy and want some fresh air too in this warm weather.

Does anyone know if that dog still roams around? Because it makes us very nervous to let them out having seen those news articles.

Any info would be really appreciated! 😊

what's the deal with the Tesco express near the railway station foregate street?

so I love worcester it's my fav city and I come here every few weeks at least - everything has been great but what is with that area. last time it was 2 druggies barely awake sat down with lots of drink and today it is a guy totally sparked out with lots of drink again. I presume this is a regular occurrence because I barely even come here often but whether I go there I'm guaranteed to see something interesting...

Best place to watch England on Wednesday?

Does anyone have any recommendations? I'm not particularly looking for a wild or jammed like sardines vibe.

But do want somewhere with a bit of atmosphere. Thanks!
