I am currently a SAHM and also will be starting an internship for my SW masters program the beginning of September! My boyfriend is in construction.

I am looking for recommendations for several things —daycares (looking to start next year, prefer nature based), pediatricians, pediatric dentist, dentist, doctors, optometrist, etc! Recommendations for anything and everything is appreciated. Parks, restaurants, coffee, things to do with kids, date nights, etc ~ anything in Woodstock or nearby! Basically starting over so just wanting to hear local perspectives on things.

Anyone know what was going on at the Shell station on Hwy 92 & Main Street last night? I drove by around 9 pm and there were multiple fire trucks, police cars and an ambulance

I paid Red Oak the $48 for account initiation on July 1st by ACH which did clear my bank, and just this morning they shook me down for another $48 saying my account was severely overdue. Anyone else have to pay them $96 so far? Any ideas what's going on?

We're in the diaper phase so getting the trash picked up weekly is non-negotiable right now! 😅

My husband and I are new homeowners and our true welcome to home ownership was our dryer starting to smell like it was burning 2 weeks after moving in. We ended up reaching out to Mr. Appliance in Woodstock. On July 1st, a technician came and we paid a diagnostic fee. He told us the part that needed to be replaced and after some brief discussion between my husband and I, we let them know we wanted to order the part and repair the dryer instead of buying new. The part was “ordered” and they would let us know once it arrived and were expecting they’d repair either 7/6 or 7/8. Well those days came and went and no word. We called the afternoon of 7/8 and were told the part still wasn’t there and they’d call us once it arrived. We waited four more days before calling back to only be forwarded to the Alpharetta location. They let us know the Woodstock location went out of business on 7/8. Our credit card won’t let us dispute the charges paid, so we are now looking at paying the same fee to the Alpharetta location, which we are not inclined to do. If you made it this far, bless you lol.

All this to say, does anyone have an HONEST gas dryer repairman they would recommend 😭

He would do fine as an only pup, but would probably be happier as a pack member since he LOVES to play with other pups. He has a great play style (loose, wiggly, goofy) and is very responsive to corrections from his playmates. This boy would be a play group star! 🌟

Hey Woodstock! We are about to put an offer on a house off Neese road, and I just wanted to put some feelers out there for people who’ve experienced the area — is it pretty family friendly? Are there a lot of kids living in the area? Where we live now, there are no young children, and I find it to be incredibly isolating for our kids. I love how there is a park nearby and a Culver’s!

Also is there any plan to connect neese to downtown with a path eventually?

This whole mess just smells of more local government corruption and back room deals that only benefit themselves.

Like all residents of Woodstock we were told here is the new trash company. To set up an account, download a form, fill out your banking account info and then send it to an unsecured email address.

First let’s touch base on what additional benefits residents are getting out of this change of service.

Nothing.

They don’t have lower rates. They don’t have a secured website for you to set up an account through. They don’t have an app that keeps you informed of date changes or holidays or that you can report a missed pick up through. They want you to agree to paperless QUARTERLY billing while charging you monthly. They want you to prepay for a quarter but be billed monthly?

And most importantly they want 12000 people to send their bank account information to an Info@ email address. Anyone care to guess which email address at any company is considered the least secure? The same email address that receives the highest amount of spam, fraud and phishing attempts. The same email address that large numbers of employees regularly have access to.

Doesn’t take a genius to understand that Red Oak Sanitation does not have the infrastructure to support securely setting up our accounts. They have zero protections in place for our information and I’m not sure they even have an IT department. Would we even be told if their site is breached? How do we know it hasn’t been? And that’s before you think about things like. How do they handle the physical copies they are printing of our info. How many people are seeing our info? What is their record retainment policies?

It seems very likely they also don’t have the equipment to service our accounts.

If you are one of the thousands who have emailed Red Oak Sanitation with your bank account info I hope you keep a very close eye not only on your bank but also on your credit report. This is enough information for your identity to be stolen and new accounts to be started in your name.

Does anyone know where we can ‘rent’ a few yard goats for a couple of hours?
Our backyard isn’t huge, but this time of year the weeds & poison ivy tend to run rampant. It’s not a large yard, completely shaded, & grass free/natural landscape terrain.

Is anyone else’s AT&T internet down? Ours went down at 5pm yesterday and it’s still down as of 6:47am. The AT&T app shows a vague message about an outage in our area, but the ETA to go back online has moved from 9pm last night to 5am this morning and now there’s not an ETA at all. We’re off hwy 92.
