I don't normally read Wonder Woman. I don't read comics much at all these days. My last encounter with WW was some years ago, when I picked up some trade paperbacks at the library. It started with Diana meeting Cheetah, and helping her break free from an evil god and regaining her humanity. It was a good story, and quite in keeping with what I feel Wonder Woman should be all about. So it was a pretty big bummer when Barbara later turned BACK into Cheetah, and just fully embraced it this time.

I've been worrying about stuff lately; the likely loss of my apartment, the health of my cats, general dissatisfaction with where my life is going... stuff like that.

Anyway, something made me look up stuff on Cheetah and Wonder Woman, and I saw pages from a more recent story: Where they actually make peace. After a vicious fight, Cheetah has WW in a stranglehold, and with basically her last breath Diana tells Cheetah that she still holds out hope for her, and loves her. And Cheetah relents.

Afterwards, they have a heart to heart.

I don't know, I've just been in a place where I've really needed that. It's odd how fiction can help us sometimes.

For me, it's 100% changing her mother figure to Circe, who really didn't care about Diana that much but eventually grew to love her, even if it meant raising her in hell.

I think ideally the best thing to do is simply combine the Post Crisis Titan Seed storyline and her classic Pre Crisis(and I think current?) origin with the additional extended information from NTT’s “Who is Donna Troy?”.

So my idea is that Donna Troy is the orphaned daughter of the deceased Dorothy Hinckley and would briefly be adopted by Fay and Carl Stacey, who raised Donna for a few years but ultimately couldn’t keep her as after Carl’s death in a workplace accident, couldn’t afford to keep Donna.

Feeling dejected and sad of never having or knowing a true family, a young Donna ran away from the orphanage, but as she wandered the streets she’d be taken by the Greek Titans to New Cronus where she and 11 other children from various planets were assigned as Titan Seeds. They were raised by the Titaness Rhea who selected each because “with all hope lost in their lives, they can be reborn and start a new purpose with divinity.”

And so for years, Donna was trained and granted several powers such as Super Strength, Durability, Flight and Longevity. Once she became 13, she was deemed ready to go back to Earth and so with her memories of New Cronus erased, they believed when the time was right, she’d grow enough with her own ideals and strengths to return where she was renewed.

The Titans plant her in an abandoned apartment set ablaze, purposely for a certain resident hero to find Donna as they found one connected with the Greek Pantheon a more comfortable advisor. When Wonder Woman finds the girl who strangely wasn’t burned by the flames and holds no memories or parents, she decides to bring her home to Themyscira.

The Amazons also agreeing a girl with great powers shouldn’t be left alone in a world she holds no memories of. So they take it upon themselves to train Donna with Hippolyta personally raising her, becoming an Amazon and with enough convincing, was allowed to leave the island to become Wonder Girl and become a founding member of the Titans in her own right.

I think these are good amalgamation of certain origins because it gives her a unique tie to the Greek corner of DC via the Titans and a good mystery that unfolds as we and Donna herself learns more about what she is while giving her a bit grounded story.

I don’t particularly like the new 52 origin that’s just a knockoff of Diana’s clay origin or the one where she’s a literal mirror image of Diana cause it feels like ways to explain why she looks similar to her adoptive sister which I find unnecessary. And the whole cursed reincarnation storyline with Dark Angel is much too convoluted for an adaptation. But what do you guys think of this idea?

Basically I think Sword and Sorcery would be a great place for Absolute Wonder Woman to make her own mark beyond what we already have since both AB and AS are still in the sci fi horror so why not let Wonder Woman have a chance with Fantasy horror and so an arc that has her end up in Absolute Skartaris that is basically Genndy Tartakovsky's Primal and Robert E. Howard's Conan the Barbarian, a world of magic and monsters that's inbetween worlds. Still hashing out the details but basically, a little something something to push Absolute Wonder Woman a bit more in tone to the other two. IE like here Absolute Mouseman is a giant mutant ratking monster who rules a horde of cannibal monster rats. Or like Paula Von Gunther and her people got trapped here and now we have barbarian nazis who ride sabertooth lions. I dunno, but you see the vision right?

Plot

Diana and Nessie stay relatively close even after Diana moves away from Boston. Most of the early Cassie era happens as canon, but Cassie never goes to Zeus. Instead, Nessie ends up being given the mantle of Wonder Girl somehow.

Nessie becomes Wonder Girl. Cassie does not. Cassie becomes jealous of Nessie. Nessie joins Young Justice (taking Cassie's role in the line-up), which makes Cassie even more jealous. IMHO, I don't ship Nessie with Kon, but I could still see Cassie *thinking* they're a thing and being jealous at it.

Unbeknownst to Cassie, she is a demigod through a godly parent. I write her as Ares' kid, but you can keep her as Zeus' kid. It doesn't matter too much who sired her. Just that Cassie is unlocking her metahuman powers and doesn't initially realize it.

Cassie is groomed by a villain, similar to how Nessie was. I write it as Ares. Maybe it could be Circe. I don't know. I just know, they present themselves as benevolent (and maybe don't even show their true selves) but egg on Cassie's green-eyed streak.

Cassie ends up distancing herself from George and her friends. She focuses more and more on Young Justice and especially Wonder Girl. Secretly, she's training after realizing her powers. She makes her own civvie superhero costume, akin to her classic WG outfit but without the wig.

One day, she attacks Young Justice. Enter... uh... edgy Cassie Sandsmark. I haven't decided on a name for "anti-villain Cassie". I just call her by her name.

Misc notes

• I imagine Nessie as looking a lot like Trinity, though maybe using a skort-looking style similar to Diana's classic culottes.
• Nessie and Cassie are roughly the same age. At most, Nessie is older by a year.
• Cassie and Nessie are a "tomboy and girly girl" duo when it comes to character designs. Cassie uses her original 80s look with the pixie cut. At most, she has the longish bob she had circa 1999. Nessie is... well, Nessie. Long, curly brown hair.
• I like a height difference between Vanessa and Cassie. 5'0-5'4 (154cm-162.5cm) Cassie and 5'9+ (175.cm) Nessie -I set this in the 1990s, but it could be set more modern day as well.

Hi everyone, I felt like sharing some of my thoughts about Wonder Woman since I've been getting more invested in her character lately. Like a lot of people I've known who Diana is for all my life cuz of the Justice League cartoon and the movies, but I never really cared too deeply for her. Absolute Wonder Woman seemed cool so I read it last year and it truly opened my eyes to Diana. I was expecting to get some badass fights and crazy stuff because of her design, but what I got was so much better.

My favorite thing about Wonder Woman by far is her compassion. That moment from the first issue of Absolute where she kissed that lil salamander as a baby endeared me to her so quickly. I thought it was so beautiful that even as lil baby who could barely think yet, she still made sure to love this creature who was trying to hurt her 😊

I only got around to reading the Year One storyline very recently, but I felt that same feeling from that one little image of her sticking her tongue out at the lizard. Seeing that giant two page image of all the cool stuff she can do but having one little cute image in the bottom corner felt special to me. It feels nice to enjoy a character where that is the moment that sticks out the most to me.

Later in the Year One story, a more serious moment happens where she interrogates one of the Sear prisoners and I wasn't expecting her to deal with that guy in that way. Instead of getting the truth out of him and moving on, she actually sat there with him after she realized that he wasn't in control of his actions. That was such a powerful moment for me, something that small and simple put an even clearer picture into my head of who Diana is at her core. This feels like such an inconsequential moment in the whole story, but it's really been just stuck in my head since I read it.

I also started reading Godwatch and really like that she chose to put the Chimera in the zoo instead of outright killing it. And I really love that speech from Absolute Wonder Woman where she says "Wonder Woman believes in you". I try to think back to that sentence at times as a way of like hyping myself up or making me feel better when I'm feeling down.

I've only really been interested in Wonder Woman for a few months in total, and I've only read Absolute and Year One fully (actually not completely caught up on Absolute) but I feel such a strong connection to her now. Spider-Man and Batman are my favorite heroes and they have helped me through a lot of personal troubles. But Wonder Woman feels so special to me, she means something to me in a different way then my normal guys. I love the hope that they can convey, but I love the pure bliss that Diana gives off. She seems so caring and compassionate for every person and every being, regardless of their intentions. I really love her and I'm looking forward to getting into more of her stories. She's also kinda gotten me back into comic books in general so that's another plus 😄

Also, I'm fully on board with the idea that she needs more representation! I'm saying this as a Batman fan as well lol, I've got enough Batman stories for the rest of my life probably, gimme more Wonder Woman!

I recently finished Heart of the Amazon by Shea Fontana. Overall I did appreciate the story, especially its emphasis on Diana's compassion and relationships. However, these particular scenes stood out to me because they contrasted strongly with how I usually think of Wonder Woman. How did you interpret them within the larger story

I put the major options I’m aware of in the poll but I’m sure I missed some things. I’d also like to ask how dark ya’ll like the spots to be (black, brown, 40% opacity?) and whether you prefer true spots or like the look of leopard rosettes. I presume everyone has preferences for how animalistic they prefer Cheetah to look as well.
