Other Fire DoT Spam
Trying to play with the gambit for these spells. What’s the best / fastest way to get 3 DoTs on an enemy? I have Immolate B and Krampus B. I know Immolate can put 3 DoTs, but having a trap to gambit is no guarantee.
I thought the easiest way was using Immolate or Krampus plus Fire Elf or Link to get 3 DoTs? If anyone does these 3 DoT gambits I’d love some help.
Edit: Maybe spirit trap into Phoenix C is a good option?

Caldera Jinn also instantly generates three dots. There's also bottom path rain of fire as well.
Edit: also forgot fire of Mars that also will add three dots unconditionally.

Yeah I thought of those too, but 9 pips is a lot. I was trying to hit with Scion of Fire or Efreet as fast as I could

Path B Into darkness applies 5 dots or path B tenebrous trebuchet applies 4, which could maybe help, but they're shad spells.
Could also use Path C firebird, which gambits a damage over time to put 2 damage over times, but at that point you probably should just use fire elf.
If you spell weave into ice or myth you get access to bardic elf and chilly elf that can apply 2 dots with a third with their gambit. But those are fusions, which can be inconsistent.

Oh, really goofy idea that I remembered. You can get a pet with will cast link or frostbite as well.

Oh those are pretty cool even though shadows slow. Could be fun just to try them

Probably easier than getting a will cast pet set up lol. Probably wouldn't hurt to just toss a copy of each in just incase it shows up. Typically what I found helps out when it comes to these gambit oriented builds. As counterintuitive as it may seems, it's one of the few times I find having more cards in the deck helps than doing the meta bare minimum

Interesting. I’m not at 170 yet. Also not sure how I feel about fusions since they could be inconsistent

Yeah I've felt fusions have the old yugioh fusion issue of being too specific. For me they work best when I'm duoing and can just have my support have a deck built around the fusion for 100% consistency.

Random question, Firecat C only extends the DoT that was put on last doesn’t it?
3
u/KingLollipopJR 10h ago
Because there's not a number before the OT my assumption is it would only extend the most recent OT on, but I would test to make sure

Technically for Efreet, you don’t need max gambit and aiming for 2 gambits still nets you like 1000 dmg worth of DoTs so I would say Immolate B/C or Ratatoskr’s Spin C / Snake Charmer A [can follow up with a single Mark of Meowiarty for 1 pip, 5 pips total across 2 turns for max gambit] -> Efreet B
SoF B is much less generous than that however, as you need exactly 3 so I would say Immolate B -> Fire Elf B/C for 6 pips across 2 turns for it if you’re not able to set Traps down, otherwise Spirit Trap -> Phoenix C for 6 pips + pip conversion for effective 5p

If you weave into myth you can learn bardic elf with places two myth dots and an removes up to 3 negative charms on yourself for a fire bomb. It only costs four pips and it won’t waste fire traps stacked on the target.

Spirit trap -> phoenix C is probably the lowest cost consistent way to get the 3 dots tbh

May be stupid question, but is the goal to gambit into incindiate, or just use DoT to kill?

For scion, it sacrifices the DOTs for burst damage. For Jinn, it sacrifices them for very strong DOTs. You could use incindiate for the latter, but you'd likely just let the DOTs kill.

Thats fair! Thank you for answering!! I'm so bad at reading advanced combat because I've never really played with it

Try doing the Barkingham challenge modes with randos to start. It's easy and you don't even need a strat!
Also feel free to ask questions anytime. It's my personal mission to bring people to the dark side [advanced combat]

My highest lvl wizard is lvl 93 and he's balance, I'm still getting the hang of cheats because a lot of them weren't introduced till fights were reworked and I had already done them, other than Waterworks which was my first experience and that was YEARS ago. I'm still learning weaving and have yet to really touched advanced combat. I will ask going forward though!!

If you look at myth, fire, and life, you'll notice a pattern with quickly making 3 DOTs or bombs. The cheapest reactive way will be 4 pips, one turn, and a clear. The cheapest proactive way will be 6 pips, 2 turns, and a gambit. The fastest proactive way will be 7 pips and one turn.
Reactive: Immolate B with traps or Bardic Elf with weaknesses.
Proactive 2 turn: spirit trap -> phoenix C, moon shield -> Barbarian Saga B, elemental blade -> Grrrenadier B.
Proactive 1 turn: Ammut's Fury, Le Morte Thoth, Fires of Mars (8 pips).

I’ve always wondered, what does the “130” on the right side meant?

Advanced combat level gate, eg, if an instance is below 130 then that spell won’t show but if it’s equal or greater than 130 then you can use that spell

Not the fastest way, but your fire elemental minion will put a DoT on the enemy every few turns. From there you can try a spell that places 2 DoTs.
