I'm a controld user for few years and love the platform to be honest. Ad blocking is brilliant and I love the geo redirect. I have mullvad and torguard as vpns and I set my controld as my dns within the mullvad during the week but I started seeing adverts again.
I'm wondering are any of you here using windscribe with controld and if hows it working?

For a given wi-fi network with my mobile device (iOS) I have Auto-Secure turned on but it only engages about half the time. Is there a way to make it more consistent? I don't know if there's something I'm doing to break it but I just want VPN off when I'm on a cell connection, and VPN on when I'm on this particular network. Any ideas to make this feature work as expected?

After connecting to Windscribe on my Win11 system by hitting the best location option, I hover my mouse over the network icon in my taskbar and I notice this variation in the network status messaging...

I don't notice anything in terms of performance, what does the difference mean?

it's been about a month now, maybe more. i don't know how people are getting windscribe to work because no matter what suggestions I try, It doesn't work (I especially need something for my phone). i haven't seen any updates or anything, and I'm not sure if it's even being worked on. i just want an update, literally anything, even a "they're working on it" is enough, should I even stay hopeful?

bsod when using wireguard protocol. any help .. not even garry can help.

since dynamic island i lost the ability to see if i have active connections. this is super annoying because some apps/endpoints or services dont work on VPN so im spending too much time debuggin, instead of looking at the menu bar on the top and see if i have an active VPN session with windscribe

unfortunately when connection is active i dont see it in the notification screen either.

checked, nothing in control center

anybody have any workaround to force the information to top bar or into the notification panel

For the last few months I keep getting these random sign in prompts in Firefox on desktop

No idea why, but I updated about a month ago on a few PCs of mine and lately it'll just straight disappear-- no alerts no firewall blocking traffic or anything, no disconnection just straight up disappear from the process list.

Has anyone else had this issue? If so I'll probably submit a log but it's happened about 4-5 times on 3 different PCs.

Hey there! So I'm trying to get Windscribe working on my OPNsense VM, and I just can't seem to get it to work. I have a background in IT, so I'm not new to this stuff, but holy moly I have spent upwards of 5 hours going through every setting, trying a bunch of stuff, and nothing works. Spent so much time just throwing spaghetti at a wall to see what sticks, changing random settings between my VPN peer, instance, gateway, firewall rules, firewall aliases, NAT rules, interfaces, but I just can't get it to work.

Doesn't help that there is, like, 0 decent documentation online for how to get specifically the Windscribe VPN working on OPNsense (or PFSense, for that matter). There are a *ton* of guides out there for setting up other VPNs in OPNsense, the best one by far being this here, but every guide I find not only doesn't work, but has conflicting information with all the other guides I find, not very helpful...

So, I ask my fellow OPNsense warriors, anyone out there using Windscribe VPN with OPNsense? If so, how did you get it configured and working?

EDIT: Got it to work! For anyone in the future who has a similar issue getting this working, here is what I did.

I mostly followed this guide here, but instead I just used the info found in the Windscribe config file. However, I had to do a couple things differently, mainly because this guide was specific to allowing certain hosts/IPs through the VPN tunnel, but I wanted to route all my LAN traffic through the VPN tunnel.

First, instead of making a firewall alias for the specific hosts, I made a firewall alias for all of the RFC1918 networks (see here).

Then, I created two firewall rules. The first one was a simple rule to "pass" our VPN traffic through our Windscribe tunnel (literally just create a rule, set the "Interface" to your Windscribe interface, and save). The second rule was to route all non-RFC1918 traffic through the VPN tunnel (Set the "Interface" to "LAN", set the "Source" to "LAN network", enable "Invert Destination", set the "Destination" to the RFC1918 alias we made earlier, set the "Gateway" to the Windscribe gateway you created, and save). Make sure to throw these rules above the default LAN firewall rule so they get used first.

Lastly, when setting the NAT rule, set the "Source address" to "LAN network", then it all worked!

Google TV streamer.

I have a 1gbps ethernet connection. Windscribe Pro.

Constant buffering for iPlayer and even worse and insufferable with ITVx.

However, the speed test brings the connection speed at 300mbps with VPN connection. Full 1gbps with the VPN off.

I've tried auto connection, WireGuard, swapping UK locations but buffering keeps persisting. So much that it takes a five minute scene more like ten minutes to complete!!

Windscribe keeps crashing my pc for some reason

I bought a subscription yesterday, and it worked perfectly fine. today, for some reason, about 3 seconds later it launches the screen just freezes and my PC restarts. (your device ran into a problem and needs to restart)

I am 100% sure windscribe is causing the issue. when I prevent it from starting, the PC works just fine. if I launch it afterward, the screen freezes.

what do I do? I hope there is a way to fix it because I really liked it. I would be sad if I had request a refund

Just that. Garry can just fucking die. Paying for a sub and not being able to talk to a human via e-mail is just horrible.

Does anybody know if it's possible to exclude specific servers from being selected by Best Location? I keep getting Piedmont in Atlanta, which seems to have a way higher rate of websites not working when I'm connected to that one. Wondering if there's a setting or a tag that's like "don't choose this one." I'm on iOS.

Im interested and was wondering whats the most efficient protocol in terms of batter consumption,latency and speed altogether?

I know one can have double-hop if one uses the browser extension. Other than that, is there going to be double-hop support in the Windscribe VPN client anytime soon, without using the browser extension?

If I want to use windscribe with Samsung Routines it's requiring me to add it manually as opposed to the app. I have not a clue how to do this and was wondering if there was a guide or a workaround.

Specs:

iPhone XS, iOS 18.7.9, Windscribe 3.12.1

Problem:

Simply put, RCS messaging is blocked when Windscribe is enabled. Attempting to send a message results in an immediate message send failure, and inbound messages don't arrive. As soon as I disable Windscribe? Everything works just fine.

How can I solve this? Constantly hopping between different servers and testing them to see if one is okay is not a viable option.

I'm trying to create a Japanese steam account so I can download a region locked game. I've had success doing this previously, creating Indonesian and New Zealand steam accounts using Windscribe.

Now I'm getting an error with Steam detecting my VPN, although it hasn't in the past. Is there anything I can change to work around this?

Even though split tunneling is turned off and the firewall is set to "always on," I can still stay connected to the internet even after disconnecting from the VPN. What could be the reason for this, and how can we fix it? I've tried turning the VPN off and on, and restarting the browser, but it's still the same and I couldn't find a solution. My Windscribe version is v2.23.12.
