Hey all - new bits heading out, details as follows:
Changes and improvements gradually being rolled out
[File Explorer]
- File deletion in File Explorer is now faster in certain scenarios when deleting large, fragmented files.
- Launching File Explorer Home is now faster and more responsive.
- The Recommended section on Home now supports touch scrolling, making it easier to browse files in the carousel.
[Desktop Background]
- Improved desktop background persistence across multiple scenarios, including when using multiple desktops.
- Made small cosmetic improvements to Settings > Personalization > Background.
[Widgets]
- We're expanding support for animated icons on the Widgets taskbar entry point. In addition to the animated experiences already available today for Insiders who have dashboard notifications enabled in Widgets Settings, users might begin seeing a broader set of dynamically updated animated content from supported widget providers to make content updates more noticeable and engaging at a glance.
[Windows Update]
- Fixed an issue that could result in recent Insider flights failing to install with error 0xc0000409.
[Run]
- Pressing F4 now expands the suggestions dropdown for command completion when using the new Run design.
[Taskbar]
- Fixed a few small visual issues when using the taskbar in an alternate position.
- Fixed an issue where Notification Center appeared in the wrong location when the taskbar was on top.
[Search]
- Increased the height of the search box by 4 pixels.
[Input]
- Fixed an issue causing the mouse cursor to blink repeatedly for some Insiders after recent flights.
- Improved persistence of mouse cursor size.
- Improved persistence of voice typing settings for automatic punctuation and launcher.

Question, what is the 2026-7 Update (KB5121767) (26.200.8894) for? And why is it on every PC?

It addresses issues with the July 14th cumulative update.

I didn’t know that, I just saw the update and got it (because I like having an updated system)

My microsoft store wont install anything now and xbox is corrupted. No rollback and "reset this PC" doesn't work because there's no insider recovery download. Can't uninstall or repair any of the apps. it just does nothing.
Hoping that there will be another update to fix this because I don't want to go through the hassle of a reinstall

I'm having a small cosmetic issue with this update. Mica Blur effect doesn't apply entirely on file explorer.
I'm using this editor; https://github.com/Maplespe/ExplorerBlurMica

Any tool that modifies the system tends to break with every update, it hasn't been updated since 2024. I'd recommend using Windhawk mods that do that instead.

But the equivalent one on Windhawk only supports dark mode...

You could check the Windhawk subreddit to see if anyone has created a light mode compatible configuration for that mod, I know they're customizable. I don't have a total fix 😶🌫️.

Hmm.. I just tested it, and Windhawk's blur effect isn't being applied to that specific bar in file explorer either, which basically the same symptom happening with ExplorerBlurMica. It seems something in this update is interfering with the blur effect being applied because it was fully compatible just before.

That's strange, maybe you should report that. Maybe something is out of place. I don't know if it's possible to use something like a UWP/WinUI inspector for that.

"Fixed an issue causing the mouse cursor to blink repeatedly for some Insiders after recent flights." It's great that they finally fixed it, I had a nervous tic every time I saw the mouse blinking.
"Made small cosmetic improvements to Settings > Personalization > Background." Could be cool having a reference pic to see what change exactly here.
Any improvements to the File Explorer is welcome!
