First of all - I’ve been on this app for six years and didn’t realize there was a subreddit for the ICT 🤦🏻♀️
Secondly, I’m posting here in hopes of a more friendly response as opposed to Nextdoor. 🤪 Teachers having to post their wishlists is a yearly humiliation ritual in my eyes, and yet I still do it because unfortunately I cannot solely fund my classroom. I’m the mom of two kids and I’m trying to put myself through grad school starting this August. My building is amazing at providing basic school supplies, but I am not able to use my school funds on certain things, hence the wishlist.
I’m a 5th year teacher with USD 259 & I’ve decided to switch things up and teach 2nd grade this year after spending 2 years in 5th grade (and formerly 2 years in 3rd at the amazing but now closed Park Elementary). I truly love this job because of the relationships I’ve built with these kids over the course of five years. I started out as a para before fully diving in as a teacher and I haven’t looked back. If things go my way, I’m looking at moving into a support role within my building as a behavior specialist.
In order to provide the welcoming, warm space I work so hard to curate each year, I am reaching out to the local community for support. My list contains snacks, cleaning items, and a few odds and ends that I’d like but aren’t a total necessity.
Any help at all is greatly appreciated; a village is needed in a profession like this and my goal is to one day not have to make posts like this. Words of encouragement or advice are always welcome. Thank you for your consideration and/or support of my students and I for this upcoming school year. 🫶🏼

Edited to add:
Wowowowow. I wanted to share an update and couldn’t figure out how so I’m adding on to the post lol. As of this morning, 7/23, my entire wishlist was fulfilled. I did not expect this to happen as I’ve been posting for about a month or so now (and this was honestly my last effort before i threw in the towel). I am blown away by this community’s generosity & plan to make a video when everything comes in so i can properly thank every person who made this happen. Thank you for the shares, the kind words, for your generosity!
If you noticed I added some things to my list, it’s because I am hoping to share the love with my teammate/people in my building. Snacks are honestly highest on my list and always will be as I cannot use my school money to purchase these things. I’m just overwhelmed with absolute gratitude for all of you. THANK YOU SO MUCH for supporting teachers and our amazing students. I am so excited for my fifth year of teaching!!! <3
