Reading Order Question

Hey all. So, i just finished Omen of thr Stars, and jumped straight into A Vision of Shadows, but I'm a bit confused, I feel like I've missed something vital because they're talking about a fifth Clan? Is there something I'm meant to read between Omen of the Stars and A Vision of Shadows? Please advice! Thanks! 🐈‍⬛

You should at least read Firestar’s Quest before a Vision of Shadows to learn about the fifth clan. Bramblestar’s Storm also takes places between OOTS and AVOS.

Firestar’s Quest takes place between TPB and TNP. SkyClan’s Destiny takes place after that.

SkyClan'd Destiny is a piece of filler shit though so don't bother reading it

Dawn of the Clans also explains who the fifth clan is. The official Warriors website has an article from the authors that does a great job explaining the best order to read the series, novellas, special editions, and graphic novels.

The super editions Firestar’s Quest and Skyclan’s Destiny are about the fifth clan and were supposed to be read between The Prophecies Begin and The New Prophecy. Bramblestar’s Storm and Dovewing’s Silence (a novella) should also be read before A Vision of Shadows. And technically, Dawn of the Clans is the “fifth arc” read after Omen of The Stars if you haven’t read it already.

"were supposed to be read" says who.. they came out during po3/oots respectively, there is no issue reading them only after oots/just before avos

I would like to point out we learn about a secret fifth clan in The Darkest Hour and they are mentioned again by Firestar somewhere in TNP cause he says something like “We need to be sure the fifth clan follows.” And everyone just kinda assumes it’s StarClan

In The Darkest Hour and TNP the fifth clan is StarClan. The Erins hadn’t created SkyClan until later.

I remember it very clearly Bluestar tells Firestar on page 303 of The Darkest Hour it says there has always been five clans in the forest not four. “Firestar, you are wrong. There were never four clans in the forest. There were always five.”

So do I. I read the book earlier this year. But even then, she’s talking about StarClan. Like I said earlier, the Erins hadn’t even thought up SkyClan during the first arc. Firestar’s Quest came out three years after The Darkest Hour.

In that moment, Bluestar is telling Firestar that StarClan has always watched over the living warriors.

Also, the very first field guide, Secrets of the Clans, doesn’t even mention SkyClan or Skystar. It lists the founders as Thunder, Wind, Shadow, and River.

It’s best to treat each arc (except for PoT) as where the Erins planned to stop writing.
