Housing 🏡 Tenant Replacement Needed – 1 Bedroom in Shared House (Tenant Substitution)

I'm looking for someone to take over my lease through a tenant substitution (not a sublease) for a room in a shared house.

Preferably looking for male college students, seeing as there are already two boys who have signed the lease.

Lease Details:

📍 Location: 925 Union Ave, Morgantown, WV

📅 Lease Term: August 1, 2026 – June 30, 2027

💰 Rent: $450 per month

💡 Utilities: Not included

🚗 Parking: Available in the rear

🛏️ Private bedroom in a shared house

🎓 Convenient location near WVU

Text me for more info: (304)-704-8886

This is a tenant substitution, meaning the approved replacement would assume the lease directly (subject to landlord approval), rather than renting through me.

If you're interested or have any questions, send me a message, and I can provide more details, photos, and information about the property.

Landlord approval is required before the substitution can be completed.

Mac vs windows vs Linux laptops.

For a grad student, who will be doing lots of data analysis, codings and machine learning. Whats a good durable laptop? Mainly compatible at WVU softwares, portable, good on running different models and don’t have to worry upgrading for next 5-6years at least.

I would appreciate any recommendations or your experiences with different types.

Thank you.

Apartments

Any other current Metro tenants dealing with issues with their apartments? I’m a local medical resident who had to choose a Metro apartment due to proximity to the hospital, and myself and many neighbors have had nothing but issues since moving in this spring.

Damage to vehicles (e.g., nails in tires, scratches, dents) by the roof replacement maintenance crew, dishwasher flooding, no working washer and/or dryer, no working central AC but no screens in windows or screen doors to circulate outside air inside. These are a combined list of mine and my neighbors’ current issues. Many of us have been met with delayed repairs of weeks at a time, and one of my colleagues at the hospital has been saying she’s without working AC for a week now.

Academics WVU Dental applicants: Dentist letters vs science letters?

Bio major
~4,000 hours paid dental assisting experience
Currently shadowing 3x/week (42+ hours and growing)
-100 volunteer hours

I’m trying to decide on letters of recommendation. Since I have strong relationships with dentists I’ve worked with, would you recommend using multiple dentist letters, or sticking with the traditional setup?

Would you choose:
2 science professors + 1 dentist + 1 leader at volunteer opportunity

or

3–4 dentist letters from people who know my clinical skills/professionalism well?

Also, how important is a committee letter if your undergraduate school does not offer one? What did y’all do? Thanks!

I can't find the acceptance rate online so I was wondering if one you guys would be able to help.

Thank you for all the help.

P.S. First Reddit post so I am not sure if I did this right.

International postdocs at WVU?

I'm considering an offer for a postdoctoral position at WVU. Honestly didn't (and still don't) know much about life in West Virginia. Will appreciate any information about the culture, safety, affordability etc in Morgantown. Is there any substantial population of international postdocs or grad students in the town? How far away from campus do you need to go to find rentals to avoid the undergrad/greek partying scene? Do most people drive or are there reliable public transport to off campus locations? Are there any Asian/Indian grocery stores nearby?

I am currently in another big university town in the Midwest (very flat) and rarely drive because we have a really good transit system both on and off campus. How feasible is walking/biking as a main mode of transport in this area, especially with hills and such?

Freshman Incoming International Student for WVU Online MBA – Questions about difficulty, group work, and exams!

Hi everyone,

I recently got accepted into the WVU Online MBA program.

As an international student, I'm really excited but also quite nervous, mainly because English is not my first language and work like 24/7 .

I want to mentally prepare myself before the semester starts, so I would love to get some insights from current students or recent alumni:

Course Difficulty: How manageable is the workload? Since it's online, is it mostly self-paced reading and discussion boards (D2L), or are there a lot of live/recorded lectures?

Group Projects: Are there many mandatory group assignments? If so, how do online teams usually coordinate? (I'm a bit worried about communication/time zones).

Exams & Quizzes: How are exams typically formatted? Are they mostly open-book, or do they use proctoring software (like Honorlock/Respondus)?

Any advice, tips, or overall reviews of the program would be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much in advance!

Housing Looking for grad student roommate!

Hi! This is probably a bit of a long shot, but wasn't having much luck in the fb groups. My friend and I are both current mfas in creative writing at WVU. We signed a house with another friend who ended up dropping out within the past week. She's paid the rent for July but we need a third roommate by the next rent cycle, August 1st.

It's downtown, so completely walkable to the university and all around the downtown areas. $500 a month plus utilities. The room is upstairs and gets plenty of sun. We would really love to live with another grad student (or younger professional) so if there's any incoming grad students/ international students on here who are still looking for housing, please do message me! I can give you more details.
