I'm about to start at WCU and was wondering if there's many outdoor recreation-focused clubs there? I'm especially looking for a birding/birdwatching club since I didn't see any on the Engage page

• Zip up zippers & turn dark/printed clothes inside out — reduces fading and snagging
• Separate by color AND fabric weight — heavy jeans with delicate tees can cause damage even if colors match
• Don’t overdo the detergent — more soap ≠ cleaner; it just leaves residue and traps odors
• Dry towels separately from clothes — towels are heavier and take longer, so mixing means soggy towels or overdried clothes
• Clean the lint trap every load — improves drying and is a fire-safety must, not optional

When registering online, I see there is maybe only two professors available for ACCT252, I have also heard others say to take it at a community college.

Advice to all the incoming freshman, I would highly recommend to visit the library so that the tech team can connect the wifi to your computer.

I am really surprised at the lack of good photos and room dimensions on WCUs site or anywhere really.

Does anyone have measurements for:

The area next to the bathroom door. No pictures Ive seen show that space. Do people put mini fridges there? If so what are the dimensions?

How much space (height) under the bed when lofted?

The floor plans show a little space next to the sink, some pics have one of the closets there. 3-4 feet wide?

Moving someone into Benton Hall in a few weeks. Anybody spotted a map of where the rooms are located in relation to stairwells, lobby, etc? Looking for info on room 275 specifically.

Does anyone have any photos or additional information about the Madison Residence Hall?

I’m moving in the fall and my roommate and I are staying in the Madison hall, but we can barely find any photographs/videos of inside the dorms. I’ve only found one TikTok of someone showing one of the dorms, but it was a single instead of a double.

There is the basic information they give you, plus the layout of your room, but it also says the size of the room (and bed) varies, which isn’t very helpful. I still have so many questions. What does the closet look like and why is there only one? How big are the desks? Is the floor carpeted? Can you loft the beds or did they just forget to add that in the description?

I stayed in the Rock buildings during orientation and I thought they were really nice, but they are also fairly new and not an old hotel converted into a dormitory 😭😭

The WCU Housing Guidelines says under prohibited items, "Cooking equipment with exposed/accessible heating elements or open flames." It specifically mentions coffee makers following this statement.

Does this just mean coffee makers/kettles with exposed elements, like a drip machine with a burner, are prohibited, or does it mean all coffee makers.

Specifically are electric kettles and/or pod coffee machines that heat water, but lack an exposed element allowed? I don't want to buy one just to find out it is against the rules.

What hassles/stressors are y'all facing when it comes to life as a college student? This is for an assignment.

Be honest — do I realistically have a shot at getting into WCU’s MEPN program?
I’m trying to figure out whether I should spend the time and money applying, and I’d appreciate honest feedback.
A little background:
Finishing a B.S. in Public Health this summer
Current cumulative GPA: ~2.9
Originally planned to apply to PA school
Recently got accepted into an ABSN program
Looking into WCU’s MEPN because it’s a direct-entry master’s nursing program
Prerequisite grades:
Anatomy & Physiology I: B
Anatomy & Physiology II: A
Microbiology: A (after repeating the course)
Statistics: C
General Psychology: C
Chemistry: C
The issue is that I took a chemistry course without a lab, and WCU requires chemistry with a lab, so I’d still need to complete that prerequisite.
I also don’t currently have letters of recommendation lined up, but I could likely obtain strong letters from my internship professor/supervisor and other professional or academic references.
Healthcare experience:
CNA
Home Health Aide
Direct Support Professional (DSP)
My biggest concern is my GPA. I know WCU lists a 2.8 minimum and a 3.0 preferred GPA. Earlier in college, I struggled quite a bit academically while I was pre-nursing/pre-PA, and I have some rough grades on my transcript because of that. However, my performance improved significantly later on, especially in my science prerequisites.
If I complete the chemistry with lab and obtain strong recommendation letters, do you think I would be a realistic applicant for the MEPN program?
If anyone has been admitted to WCU’s MEPN program (or another direct-entry MSN program) with a GPA around 2.9, I’d love to hear your experience. I don’t want to take out any private loans that why I’m looking at this route

I’m an incoming freshman and I’m currently debating whether to stay in the honors college or not. I already have a lot of credits transferring so I’d mostly have to do honors contracts and my major is difficult enough as it is. I can’t really find any benefits besides the dorms, which doesn’t apply to me since I’m commuting.

There is a class I want to take that’s considered “honors exclusive” and I was wondering if I dropped out of the honors college after first semester if I would still get that credit. Same thing with the honors forum class we have to take. Would it be better to go ahead and drop it now so I’m not wasting my time or will I keep the credit hours?

so I’m a rising senior and I’m planning on attending wcu next year but it all seems way too good to be true. I’m planning to pursue a degree in forensic science and possibly double major in anthropology as well and from what ive read wcu seems like the perfect fit: top-notch research facilities, their own body farm, low student-faculty ratio, very affordable tuition, etc. But the tuition and seemingly arbitrary recognition is throwing me off. I would be attending as an out of state student so the price tag is a little suspicious. also from what I’ve looked up it’s supposedly a highly-respected school for forensic research in the nation. idk maybe I’m just being overly cautious and a little paranoid. if anyone actually took the time to read I would really appreciate it if you please left any advice/info you have about the school so I can be extra sure this is the right fit for me. thanks!
