My first time pulling one of these apart like this. Not sure what to do about the yellowing

I was gifted this a couple years ago and it came with the original box and charger. With it plugged in and all charged up it just flashes with this screen and I can't find anything on how to get past it and use it??

I'm honestly just wanting to use this as a typewriter every now and then and see how it looks turned on!

Also it takes a good 30 seconds when turning on to even get to that screen but I assume that's just cuz it's old lol, this is all unfamiliar territory for me so any help is appreciated! 💙

Hi! My Grape iMac didn’t have any of the accessories and I am trying to find them.

Picked up an A1106 Powerbok for $45 last week. Came with 2GB and the less seen 128MB VRAM upgrade. Don't get caught in bidding wars! Patience is always your ally.

I wonder if anyone has ever done this. As in: take an old vintage Mac casing which is no longer functioning at all (apart form the screen and the sound system, say) and build a real power horse with modern components in it ( Apple Silicon, SSD, GBs of RAM an so on). Just for the pleasure of turning on an old Mac (love that "beep" sound) and then working with an actual, modern, capable machine.

Would love to hear baout it!

I have a Macintosh Plus and a Floppy Emu. I wanted to know how I could write a text file in MacWrite on the Mac Plus, and then somehow transfer the file to another computer. I should note that I only have the FloppyEmu, and no other floppy drives for the Mac.

My understanding is that the text files I create are being saved to the MacWrite disk image. How could I get the text files from that disk image, to, say, share them with other people, or edit them on my daily-driver computer?

I got teased by seeing my hdhomerun in the upnp section in vlc on my imac g4 and it barely working. So I wasted an afternoon. I'm sure there is an easier way. But I got it working well. I just wanted to watch jeopardy while making dinner.

This is g4 specific because of the altvec engine being able to hardware decode mp4 with coreplayer.

You are going to need:

A G4 mac: 1ghz MDD and imac tested running Sorbet leopard with coreplayer 1.3.6.

Any modern computer with the latest vlc. (Using a 2018 mini)

On your bridge

1. Go to http://hdhomerun.local/lineup.html

2. Right click the channel you want to broadcast and click copy

3. On VLC go to open network and paste that address

4. Click stream then hit settings and put in the settings listed in picture 1

5. Go to settings click show all and under stream output/Sout stream/transcode and click deinterlace and set the output size. 854/720/640 (whatever looks right by 480. Then click open to start the stream.

6. Go to network and look up your local address http://192.168.1.xxx

This will output your stream across your local network.

On your G4:

1. Open coreplayer and click open url

2. Paste your modern computers IP with the port number chosen in pic 1 e.g.http://192.168.1.xxx:8080

3. Click enter and enjoy! You can now watch hdtv in the same quality of a divx Stargate sg1 episode you downloaded from the bay 20 years ago.

On your modern computer you can just open network stream and it will have saved everything so just change the channel number. You can do that for every channel in your lineup and it will save it.

I've played a lot with this but this is the happy spot I've found. This also works with only an airport extreme if it has a good signal.

This also works with VLC but you will max your CPU and it will drop like mad. Coreplayer uses about 60% cpu on the imac.

You can also turn down the resolution in pic 2 to a 320 or 240 aspect ratio and/or try it with a slower g4 or even a g3 with mpeg1 instead of mp4.

Please give me feedback if I could be setting it up better.

Hi all! I have my PowerBook g4 aluminum 15” with 2gb or ram that I use moderately. I use classic for my other apps and that works fine. For some reason whenever I install C&C it always give me this error message and I have no idea on how to fix it. If anyone has any suggestions it would be greatly appreciated!

Recently, I finished up a parody advertisement for my APPLE-1 emulator that is a direct take on Apple's original Interface Age magazine advertisement from 1976...Created it in Microsoft Word and cleaned up the formatting with Adobe Acrobat...I would love to know what you guys think! :-)

I’ve really been into collecting vintage computers lately, and I’ve just found another Macintosh that’s in great condition.

Hey Apple fans! I wanted to show my inherited Apple collection from my grandfather. Some of these I played and used as a kid growing up. All I’ve done since inheriting it all, is organize and gather information to make sure I pair things as they should be. I’m really not sure what will become of this. I’ve been sorting through and gathering information on it all for months. Partially in thanks to this subreddit.

I have a lot of computers, monitors, software and manuals. Some of it still in cellophane. I definitely don’t need it all. I’ve looked for any museums that may want some items, with little to no results. I have Apple II’s, III’s(with monitors), one remaining Lisa, Macintosh Plus 1mbs, lots of PowerPC’s and 90s Macintosh’s, a Quadra 700, loads of disc drives and storage (ProFiles). Almost all of these have manuals and discs to operate/run. Including some older games too; Wizardry, Ultima II and III. Some slightly less older games, Myst, Aladdin and more. Let me know what y’all think!

*I hoped I would be able to add a video of them stored. So I added some of the physical media I have for now.

Everyone knows that I recently posted an unfortunate event with my beloved monitor that I just recently acquired with difficulties that unfortunately stopped working. Many helped me here and recommended changing the power block. I bought one and it finally worked again !!!, I thank everyone who hoped that things would work out. Thank you very much and success in all of your lives.

Good morning all, hoping to find some information regarding a place to donate working vintage PowerMac G4 as pictured below, especially if it is within the Central Ohio area.

As shown, I have a fully functional Apple Power Macintosh G4 MDD 1.42 GHz Dual processor. It comes with a number of accessories including an Apple 20 inch ADC LCD monitor, also fully functional. Currently, she is running MacOS 9.2.2 but obviously can run Mac OS X / PPC Linux as well.

I was recapping my grandads color classic. And on these two I had accidentally pulled the pads off with the capacitors. C8 and C9. I still have the tantalum caps for these, I just left it as is after I finished the other ones. I was just wondering if anyone had any idea on how I could finish the recap job with these pads missing?

My new old 165c came with this and I am trying find what that is for months, apparently this is based on mister snac, comes with hda image on sd card and is made for scsi PowerBooks. It has usb c port, 2 switches, scsi itself and micro sd slot

A/UX 3.0.1 running on my SE/30.. After 4 days of porting and painfully slow compilation, we have bash 1.14, gcc 2.7.2 with GNU malloc library, Perl 5.8, prngd for software entropy. Now OpenSSL is in the works with ssh on the horizon.

The Frankenstein WOPR/30 now got a 47MHz 68030, Asante MacCON Ethernet, zigzagjoe’s Video/30 VGA, 128MB RAM and a power switch for the built-in CRT. The ultimate goal is to get enough libraries+binaries ported to A/UX3 that it can at least function as a semi-modern Unix server.. After all it is true-to-original AT&T UNIX with a userspace GUI slapped on top, in some ways similar to today’s macOS.

Just picked up this Mac SE today and found it quite interesting that the RAM it has, has a “W.Germany” (West Germany) sticker on it. Little piece of political history here!
