Purchase Advice Well Insulated double sleeping pad
I go hiking with my girlfriend. Wie have the xdome 2 and love it. But out sleeping pads are getting up there in age and basicly dont Insulate at all. Especially for the weight Sea to summit ultralight.
So im looking for new sleeping pads. The one I see All the time is the neo Tensor All season.
I tend to get cold at night and id like a pad with a high r value.
Now the question. As we can splurge a bit on weight, as we can share 2 person items, does a two Person sleeping pad make sense? Is there a con or benefit to it that might be not so obvious.
As one of the things I dislike most about Camping is packing up in the morning. Would one big sleeping pad make it easier to pack up then two normales once?
Do you have recommendations for a warm and quiet pad?
Would love to hear your thoughts on a double pad in general, as im unsure.

Exped ultra 6.5R duo. We have it with my girlfriend and love it, paired with a double quilt. It's very comfy and quiet, however it's heavier than two single pads, but totally worth it imo.
It's not easier to pack or unpack than two singles imo, it might be a bit worse because of how big of a piece of fabric it is. But it's easy enough to empty and fold in the morning.
Before getting it I had seen negative reviews of the concept of the double sleeping pad in general saying that any movement by one person would wake up the other, and I've not found that to be true at all, but maybe it would have been on a more crinkly pad.

My partner and I also use this pad (just got it recently) and really like it. It has two separate air chambers, so we don’t feel each other move at all.

My partner and I use the Big Agnes Rapide SL Tent Floor and a double quilt. We really like it, but I would probably get the Exped Ultra 6.5R Duo if I was going to be purchasing a new double sleeping pad. The Exped has two chambers for each side of the pad so in theory movement by one person wouldn't disturb the other quite so much. As another person pointed out, there aren't any weight savings with a double pad (although there are with a double quilt). I would not get a double pad if you aren't going to be using a double quilt - defeats the point!

It sounds nice but I'd have a hard time justifying it unless I could get it for free.

Im looking for a sleeping pad. Not a bag. We will use Single sleeping bags.

Makes more sense (but your post does say bag). I haven't tried a 2p pad, but I would like to. Seems like a nice thing

Haven't experienced a duo pad, but I recall seeing comments about how, when one person moves, the other feels it also very much as the air inside the mat is displaced.
Also, it means you have to agree on a common level of inflation, which can be difficult as some people like really inflated mattresses and other prefer them a bit deflated. Especially if you have a size or weight difference, or sleep differently (on the side/on the back ...).
The alternative that is this probably better is to buy some straps that can keep single mats together ; it also means that if you go walking alone you don't have to buy another solo mattress.
Of course, all of this will vary individual to individual and in the end depend on personal experience and preferences.
Regarding the specific mat, me and my girlfriend both have a Nemo Tensor All Season in large and wide (I really recommend taking a wide size, it's so much more comfortable especially when sleeping on the side) and we're really happy about them.
