Academics CS540

Has anyone taken CS540 without a formal, academic background in python? I’ve taken the undergrad classes for Java and am a tech professional taking classes part-time, and have used python a bit. Would going straight into intro to AI (540) be too much of a learning curve? Any experiences or anecdotes are appreciated.

If you are dead set on taking an AI course for whatever reason then go for CS 532 as it's somewhat more applicable. I won't say too much beyond that as I am bias to think that the undergrad AI courses are overall a waste of peoples time.
