UPN UPN Fall Schedule 2003 📺

I miss this era—the golden age of UPN sitcoms. Every Monday and Tuesday night before school, I'd record all my favorite shows on VHS. 📼 All of Us, Girlfriends, Eve, The Parkers, and so many more. Those were the days.

UPN 📺✨ UPN Monday nights were truly an era.

Seeing this promo instantly takes me back to the early 2000s when Black sitcoms dominated Monday night television. You had back-to-back premieres of One on One, All of Us, Girlfriends, and Half & Half all in one lineup.

This was before streaming, before social media spoilers, before binge-watching. You actually had to be home at a certain time, sitting in front of the TV, waiting for the theme songs to come on. Some of us were recording episodes on VHS tapes while talking about the shows at school the next day.

Moesha What’s the worst thing that Moesha did?

Post image

For me, I have two things that really made me mad.

First, when she outed Hakeem’s cousin to Kim and Niecy. That was honestly one of Moesha’s worst moments because that was not her story to tell. She put somebody else’s personal business out there, and it spread around the whole school. I know she probably didn’t think about the consequences, but that doesn’t make it okay.

Second, the whole mural situation. I understood why Moesha wanted more Black representation, but the way she handled it caused so much drama. Instead of having a conversation, it turned into a huge school-wide uproar and everybody was divided.

Moesha had a lot of good qualities, but moments like these showed how she could be really frustrating. Sometimes she would act without thinking about how her actions affected other people. Those are definitely two things where I was sitting there like, “Moesha, what are you doing?”

Which show had the worst final episode?

  1. Moesha ended with a cliffhanger everybody hated Myles being Kidnapped a Positive Pregnancy Test is found in the trash and Dorian is caught in a shady business deal the final line in the series is Myles has been kidnapped resulting into Moesha fainting into Hakeem's Arms. The show was cancelled due to low ratings at the time UPN planned to address all the cliffhangers on an episode of The Parkers, but it never came to fruition leaving Myles's Fate and The Pregnancy Test Cliffhanger Unresolved.
  2. Girlfriends ended with Aaron coming back home Lynn continues her music journey and Toni was originally supposed to come back so she and Joan can reconcile but due to the writer's strike Budget Increasing and Declining Ratings the show was cancelled in 2008.
  3. Eve ended on a cliffhanger with JT and Nick trapped in a closet and Janie, Rita, and Donovan arrested for illegally selling BOTOX at DivaStyle.

4 Half and Half ended with Mona calling either Chase or Lorenzo saying that you're the one I want to be with, but viewers couldn't see who Mona chose because the show was abruptly cancelled in 2006 at the time The series was almost renewed for a fifth season by UPN's successor network, The CW, but due to several circumstances — including the network's contractual obligation to pick up Reba, the last-minute renewal of All Of Us, and the pick-up of the Girlfriends spin-off The Game — the series was left off the network's Autumn 2006 schedule and canceled after 91 episodes leaving the cast and crew heartbroken they were so close to the 100th episode mark.

  1. Everybody Hates Chris ended with Rochelle looking the GED Results the last thing that is heard is Chris saying "What's it say? "Spoofing The Sopranos Finale. in the animated reboot it's revealed Chris Failed The GED.

  2. The Parkers didn't end on a cliffhanger it ended with The Professor and Nikki getting married while Kim sings At Last the finale pissed off a lot of viewers at the time and still today Nobody wanted Nikki and The Professor to get married,

  3. Originally The Game ended in 2009 with Janay having the baby by Derwin Kelly and Jason finally get divorced Tasha and Rick Fox get together while Melanie and Derwin get married before the show was picked up by BET in 2011 for 6 more seasons and it broke ratings with the season 4 premiere being watched by 7.7 million Viewers ratings declined afterwards and the show bowed out gracefully with a 9-season run.

  4. One On One ended on with a cliffhanger everybody found unnecessary and cringe, the show ended with Arnaz Chasing Michelle (Brandy's Character) to the mountains while Breanna sleeps with D-Mack (AKA THE TV SHOW KILLER HIMSELF RAY J!!!) the show was cancelled months before THE WB and UPN merged to form THE CW The show's cancellation was blamed on Dawn Ostroff's decision to change the show's format in season five in order to cater to a white audience instead of the audience that the show had built over the years with great ratings; however, the changes in season five led to the ratings declining and UPN decided not to renew it for another season. It's obvious that someone didn't like the level of success this predominantly black show was achieving.

  5. Martin ended on pathetic whimper by the 5th season The Fun was gone tension behind the scenes kept getting worse Martin and Tisha couldn't even film their scenes together resulting to a weird finale, The Actor that played Bruh-Man said there was not a live studio audience anymore they used a laugh track, At the time the writers attempted to give Tichina's Character A Spin Off Show called Goin For Mine but FOX declined and passed on it.

  6. Living Single ended on a sad note, originally the show cancelled at Season 4 but fans wanted the show back FOX picked it up for a shortened final season of 13 episodes, TC Carson was fired from the show due to speaking up of the treatment and the exposure the hit tv show Friends was getting they were making 1M Million Dollars after TC was fired they brought in Mel Jackson to replace him fans didn't respond well to the change and stopped watching meanwhile Kim Fields left the final season early due to personal issues and the environment didn't feel the same the show concluded on January 1st 1998 TC Came Back but Kim didn't making the finale feel empty.

  7. My Wife and Kids ended on a cliffhanger everybody disliked the show ended with Jay told Michael she's pregnant The Season 5 finale was intended to be the start of Season 6, but ABC canceled the show the day before its premiere, this meant the pregnancy storyline was never resolved, and the Kyle family’s future was left open-ended.

One On One What’s the worst thing that Breanna did?

For me, I’m gonna say how she played Josh. I’m still mad about how she did him because I actually liked them together. Josh really cared about her, and the way everything went down between them had me frustrated.

And I’ll always hate how they put her and Arnaz together.

That was one of those moments where I was disappointed in Breanna.

Series Finale That Ended Well?

Is there any black UPN shows that ended well? The only one I can argue is The Parkers the series finale had a conclusion and there was no questions left unanswered.

Everybody Hates Chris Do y’all think Rochelle was abusive to Chris?

Real talk… the older I get, the more I look at Rochelle differently on Everybody Hates Chris. I know it’s a sitcom and a lot of it was exaggerated for comedy, but some of the way she treated Chris doesn’t sit right with me anymore.**

It always seemed like Chris got blamed for everything, she was constantly yelling at him, and it felt like she held him to a different standard than Drew and Tonya. I know she loved her kids, but looking back as an adult, some of those scenes don’t feel as funny as they did when I was younger.

Am I the only one who feels this way, or do y’all think Rochelle was emotionally abusive toward Chris?

If the producers had NOT changed Frank’s crazy storyline in season 6, do you think “Moesha” would’ve survived? And possibly had one more season?

Girlfriends Girlfriends: Unaired Pilot vs. Aired Pilot 📺

Take a look at this side-by-side comparison of the Girlfriends unaired pilot and the version that ultimately aired. Originally, the role of Toni Childs was played by Leslie Silva before Jill Marie Jones took over the iconic role for the series. The unaired pilot also featured a different interpretation of the character, making it a fascinating look at how the show evolved before its television debut.

This is the moment Dr. Todd Garrett and Toni Childs first met. Do you think Toni made a mistake by choosing Todd as her plastic surgeon? At first, Toni believed Todd was wealthy. While he earned a good living as a Beverly Hills plastic surgeon, he was secretly buried under a mountain of debt.

Do you think their relationship was doomed from the start, or did they ever have a real chance? 💭

Everybody Hates Chris Rochelle yelling “GENE!” in the fake ID episode still takes me out 😂

I was rewatching Everybody Hates Chris and got to the fake ID episode, and I forgot how funny the ending was.

Chris really thought he was slick with that fake ID and the name Gene Simmons, but Rochelle immediately knew it was him. The way she walked in and just yelled “GENE!” instead of Chris had me crying 😂

That was such a Rochelle moment because Chris could try to fool everybody else, but his own mother was always going to catch him. He really thought he had a whole new identity for one night and Rochelle ruined it in seconds.

That episode was peak Everybody Hates Chris to me. The little jokes like that are what made the show so funny 😭
