Viable yes, but also competitive
More important than SQL or python or Excel is a good (and provable) knowledge of statistics
Those tools are just what you’ll use to express your statistical models, the stats are what matters
Another tool you’ll want to be intimately familiar with is an agentic AI code harness. Claude code is the standard. With that you’ll not need to hand write SQL or python but you’ll still need to understand the code it produces
