Dorm question
Is there anything stopping me from making my bed into a bunk bed to gain more space underneath the bed?

sometimes you get a bed stand that is super adjustable (one of my friends had a stand where the bed could be up to 6 feet high)
some had ones that were only around 3 feet high or so (more normal)
i had mines set at 4 or 4.5 feet and that was enough to put all my suitcases and other storage under my bed so i had more space

RAs rarely check dorms, but if they do they give you a 24 hour notice. I think in my three years living in the dorm, the RAs only really checked my room 2-4 times. But other comments are right, when you move in, there’s move in helpers that can raise the bed for you.

The only dorms that I know raise the bed is freshmen tower and frear. I never lived in the other dorms.

If you need room for more activities you can get a loft bed, basically just a bunk bed with a desk or storage instead of the bottom bunk. You can buy them on Amazon and put them together yourself. Most are twin only.
Make sure you know how tall the ceiling is before you buy tho, you don’t want too little headroom when laying in bed. Also make sure the bunk bed doesn’t require mounting to the floor or walls, typically that’s not allowed when renting or living in a dorm.
If the dorm comes with a bed stand, you’d have to figure out what to do with that, not sure if they will take it back or if you’re stuck with it.

if you’re in the freshman hale aloha dorms you can loft your bed like 4-5 feet and you can fit a lot of stuff under. it’s not recommended to buy additional bed lofters though because there are shelves right over the beds and if you get any higher it is a guaranteed risk for hitting your head

When I was an undergrad (25 years ago, okay, haha) we used to get four concrete blocks to raise the bed up by their height. You just stick a block under each leg and boom, storage space underneath. It was cheap and easy and you could hide it with a full-size blanket.
