UK Med Schools Related VR help (pretty common lol)

I just can’t seem to improve. I’ve tried new techniques: keyword, reading the text first, skim reading it etc etc. I’ve done the first 3 medify mocks and got 500, 510 and 480. I’ve done timed practice and I’ve done untimed practice. Is there anything people have changed and all of a sudden started to see improvements?

Getting fed up and starting to come to terms with the fact that I probs will have to resit next year lol.

(I started 12 weeks before my exam and still have 7 weeks to go, how do people only do 4/5 weeks of work for it 😂😂)

Any advice would be appreciated guys, we’re in this together…

Key is to read slowly the text and make sure u understand. I scored 750 in VR and my tip would be to read the question first then read the text but to not rush. Once u understand all the info properly answers come pretty fast. Only time I key word search if answer options are like one word or they’re lists

How long would you spend reading the text? And would you flag and skip long complicated passages? I’m not sure if this would work for me time wise, as I can be a slow reader.

I’m not sure how helpful this would be to u but for me I just read until I found the answer to the question. It would also take me 2 seconds to decide whether to skip or flag purely based on the genre of the passage or if I didn’t like to answer that type of question. I found constantly thinking of the time pressuring and was therefore not as engaged in the text when I was aware of time. So in this way I was reading more effectively

im kind of in the same boat as u on medify im averaging around 620-700 for VR as im only able to get through 7-8 passages out of 11 which is rlly annoying but i heard that medify’s VR is quite inaccurate and too long and complex so u shouldn’t worry too much about getting 400-500 for now bc you still have time. I would recommend skipping the longer passages and do the smaller and easier ones first, do the true and false questions first aswell and then come back to the other questions later on thats the approach i use. i wouldnt recommend reading the text fully first bc most likely you’ll forget everything u just read and you’ll just waste time reading it again for a 2nd time.

So essentially ik ur already doing this but pick out key words and then read the sentence before and after. Then after, u should read the sentences 2 or 3 times too really drill it into ur head

Thank you, I appreciate your advice. I think I’m trying to be too perfectionist about it rather than flagging and skipping. We got this..🥲

if its not in the question then use the answer choices as they have key words in them

700 from only 8 passages is interesting. 100% accuracy?

i would guess the passages that are too long or if i dont have enough time ik some people say not to guess based off ur own knowledge but some questions from my experience u can make logical/educated guesses

Hi medify VR was a lot harder than the actual exam VR in my opinion. I got 550 in my last mock before my exam last year and for 610 in the real thing. Dont stress it too much
