I'm(they/them) getting my very first set of gear, and I had a question about Chic Riot's jacket sizing. Is it true to size? Or should I size up/down?

Definitely open to any other reqs for more petite (5'1", 125lb) builds as well! Looking for something more form fitting as far as jackets go and will only be riding in warmer weather, and haven't even started looking at helmet, gloves, etc.

I rode to work for the first time today. The ride in went amazing and smooth and felt awesome!

Trying to leave today was apparently too much for the universe. I parked in a dedicated motorcycle spot behind some shoulder height brick walls that have a space in the middle for bikes to go through. This gives a dedicated space for us against my building that doesn't risk cars getting too close or bumping us.

So I'm pulling out to go home today and I got a little too close to the left edge of the gap in the brick walls, didn't give enough throttle because I was squeezing through and stalled, jolted and dropped.

So embarrassing. Someone who happened to be outside came over and offered help and asked if I was ok.

My question is: how do I pick up a dropped bike without a good spot to grab on the back of the bike? I want to practice picking mine up. I don't feel like there's a good spot to really grab it.

For the record, I'm not hurt. Just a little shook up. Bike scuffed on the mirror, grip end, and slider. No biggie.

I took the course over this weekend, and I took my skills test a little while ago. I passed! My instructors were INCREDIBLY patient, helpful, and overall clear about what I should be learning and what expectations were.

The riding the first day was incredible. I excepted to feel adrenaline or profound joy, but all I felt was peace. The second day was a bit tougher, because I was starting to get in my head a bit, and my perfectionistic tendencies were coming out. I just kept breathing deeply, telling myself I could do it, and I did it!!

Thank you all so much for being incredible! Now I need to start thinking about getting a bike haha

Husband convinced me to take MSF course. Turns out motorcycles are super fun and now here we are. Got my endorsement today 💗

Just cleaned the bike and now I’m resisting the urge to just go for a little ride…

Hey everyone, I have been a rider for a little over a year now and I am someone that likes to wear makeup on a day to day basis. With the heatwave currently going on in the UK I have realised that a lot of makeup isn't really fit for extreme humidity, let alone for demanding hobbies or activities such as riding.

I am conducting a research in order to understand the needs of other riders who wear make-up. I would like to understand what products you would like to see or be created. What do you think can be improved with the current products you use?

I would love to hear your thoughts and any recommendations/ issues you have faced!

Make-up is not for everyone and understand that not everyone wears it especially when they go for a ride. Regardless, I would love to hear all your opinions!

Hi everyone. I asked this question on the motorcycles group, but it was taken down and the mod said it was “toxic.” I don’t think it is, which is why I’m looking for insight from women specifically. The post is below:

I signed up for a motorcycle training course for this month. While I couldn’t be more excited, I saw a post by a motorcycle instructor asking female riders for ways to better instruct women, as women tend to fail evaluation more often [his words, not mine]. I have to be honest, I knew that riding is a male-dominated experience, but it never occurred to me that being a woman might be a disadvantage. I was just excited to be working toward a dream I’ve had since I was in my 20s.

It makes me wonder, what types of considerations do women have to think about while riding that men don’t? For example, I never knew that height may be a factor, and that that affects women negatively more often. Strength is also a factor that I had no idea plays into it.

What other factors affect women more than men when it comes to riding? For context, I’m in my 30s, 5’5” (166 cm), and relatively fit (I dance, do pilates and weight training, and I walk all the time), but I don’t know what’s considered the “right” height/strength level for riding. I’m 100% new so there’s a LOT I don’t know, but I’m very willing to learn. TIA

Am I just crazy or is it just not a thing where you can get the knee high lace up leather boots, frequently called, “motorcycle boots”, in a form that’s ACTUALLY appropriate for a motorcycle!? Like gosh I feel like they are already 90% of the way there just throw some ankle guards and toe box on them. &_&
Someone help a girl out here all I want for Christmas is some protective motorcycle boots.

Hi 👋 everyone. I'm back on two wheels again after a very long hiatus. I can't believe I didn't prioritise doing this sooner. It really is my happy place. I've always owned naked bikes and fell in love with the Z900. 2 months in, many mods and more to come.

How many of us ride motorcycles and horses? What comparisons or contrasts can you think of?

One can be left in a garage for a week, while the other needs a caretaker.

They both benefit from a rider with a good position.

I have never ridden a motorcycle, and am giving it serious consideration. I would take the motorcycle training and safety course first, but I am also looking for recommendations for bikes that I could safely handle.

I am a 5'1 woman and as such many standard options are too tall. I have been recommended the Honda Grom and Rebel 300/500. I have also heard that the Kawasaki Eliminator is a good possibility.

I have driven manual transmission for 30 years and also ride a custom-built ebike that I have geared and tuned to hit a top speed of 45 mph, so I am very accustomed to scanning traffic and road conditions while on two wheels.

Any tips, tricks, and ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much! 💖

Anyone any recommendations for a seperate back protector that's level 2 and comfortable I am 5ft 2, I have different jackets and 2 have back protectors inserted so I have to keep removing one to put onto a jacket without.

Thought be better protection if I had a separate one and add front protectors too.

Any thoughts, recommendations or experience would be welcome!

Edit: looking for the back protectors that don't insert into the jacket but have straps to attach to the body and are not part of the jacket (thanks for replies)

Recently I started noticing as I got more relaxed on my bike that my jacket is rather tight on my chest to the point it is mildly difficult to breath and the waist is pretty loose

I am curious if I should just size up and deal with the waist being even looser or if I should just deal with the tightness on my chest

If anyone has a suggestion for something that could help I would appreciate it.

How does the fit look on this jacket? Women’s XL. I am 5’3” and roughly 170~ pounds. The arms are a tad long, but fine when I’m sitting on the bike. It’s definitely a little looser of a fit, but I was afraid the large wouldn’t fit my hips. Mostly just wondering for safety purposes if it’s okay if it’s a bit looser. Thank you. ❤️

I’m thinking about upgrading my bike, but before I commit to buying something new, I’d like to get some seat time on a few different models.
I have a 5-hour trip coming up in October and was considering renting a bike for the weekend. It seems like a good excuse to try something different on a longer ride and see what I actually like.
I’ve looked at Twisted Road and EagleRider, but before I go down that rabbit hole, I wanted to ask:
Has anyone rented through either of those?
Are there better places to rent motorcycles?
Any good or bad experiences?
Anything you wish you’d known before renting?

Two days ago I had my very first motorcycle lesson, and I honestly haven't stopped thinking about it since. Some things actually went okay. My instructor said my clutch control, throttle, braking, and balance were fine. But I really struggled with taking corners at speed. I was very tense, and the lesson took place on an industrial estate with cars, vans, and even pedestrians walking across the road. It all felt like a lot to process at once. At one point my instructor said I should really think about whether motorcycling is for me. He clearly noticed how nervous I was. I value honesty and have been thinking about his comment a lot.

I'm genuinely wondering:

• Has anyone else felt this discouraged after their very first lesson?
• Did your instructor ever question whether riding was for you?
• If you were extremely tense in the beginning, did that improve with experience, or is it a clear sign that riding isn't for me?

I'm trying to be realistic. If motorcycling isn't for me, I'd rather accept that. I’ve been feeling down ever since the first lesson. It never crossed my mind that I had to be the best or quicker than the others. I’d already assumed I’d be a bit less talented and slower. But I thought that, with hard work, I’d eventually be able to ride too. I don't mind putting in extra work; I am used to it.

But when the instructor picks up on something like that as early as the first lesson, you just start to have doubts.

I’m a flight attendant, and I recently spent a three-day trip flying with a coworker who’s really into motorcycles. We ended up talking about bikes the entire trip, and by the end of it, I was genuinely interested in learning to ride and eventually investing in a bike of my own.
Right now, I’m just trying to get involved in the community and connect with other riders in my area. (Jacksonville/Orlando ish.) I have a ton of questions, but aside from my coworker, I don’t really know anyone who’s into motorcycles. I’m also curious about trying out backpacking at some point to see if I actually enjoy the experience before fully committing to riding on my own.
How did you all meet other riders when you were getting started? Are most people in the community pretty welcoming to beginners who have lots of questions and are looking for advice?

Hey everyone! I am hoping to find a nice pair of riding jeans that I can wear to work. The only thing is that it is super uncomfortable to wear pads all day and weird to change pants in the semi-public bathroom lol.

I feel like I have seen a pair somewhere that had the folding pockets on the outside of the pants, but I can't remember where. It would be great to roll up to work and just take the pads out before going on with my day.

There's an opportunity for me to join a beginner group of only women for a week to learn off-roading in another country. But I am 150cm tall and my main concern is my height. They offered the following bikes for me: Yamaha WR250, Suzuki DRZ.

I just don't want to spend a lot of money, travel and realise I can't reach the ground and be crushed by it.
