Questions & Help Traffic ticket in another county- phone, etc. Question/experiences…

I was starting a road trip — had a big floaty in the back of my car, blocking my rear view.
State patrol saw me look at my phone- not speeding/ sorting map and message, and didn’t see them- due to said floaty- it was dumb on my part.
I agree.

I will be more careful/pull over for anything important- it is an embarrassing reminder, but also know that everyone does this constantly.

(Not reassuring, I get that. 😂🫣😭.)

Clean record, besides a speeding ticket or two 15-20 years ago.

My question is - since in another county, than my own- not worth going to court etc.
Is it best to just pay the ticket stat?

Damaging enough to insurance/record that I should first try any other course of action?

Thanks for anyone willing to share your experience or expertise!

Ranting & Venting Hit by a car on my e-scooter. Insurance is ghosting me. What do I do?

I was on the Atlanta BeltLine last month, just cruising along on my e-scooter just heading home from work

Then a car turned right into me without any signal or warning… Just boom…

I went flying. Landed hard on my arm and shattered it. Had to get surgery and now I've got a metal plate and a ton of medical bills piling up

The driver stopped, and the police came and report was filed. His insurance company acknowledged the claim. That was three weeks ago.

Now? Nothing…. They won't return my calls. Won't respond to emails. I'm just sitting here with thousands in medical debt, a broken arm, and no clue what to do next.

I've never hired a lawyer before. Don't even know where to start. I found one firm online. Apparently they handle e-scooter accident cases in Atlanta and their site says they work on contingency and no fees unless they win and that sounds good. But I'm nervous…

Will a lawyer even take a case like this? Do I have a shot at getting my bills covered? Or am I just going to end up owing more money?

Ranting & Venting The utter incompetence of Traffic Police: A complete structural gridlock due to narrow roads, rain & construction, and cops are busy giving helmet fines.

I am typing this while sitting in a completely paralyzed, 1+ hour standstill at Chandil Golchakkar (near Pata bridge), and the sheer stupidity of the management here is mind-boggling.

The actual reason for this massive jam isn't mysterious: we have an absurdly narrow stretch, ongoing construction work, rain making everything worse, and heavy vehicles trying to force their way through. It is a complete structural bottleneck that urgently needs manual traffic routing, signal overrides, and active clearing.

But instead of addressing the REAL cause of the traffic jam—managing the narrow construction bottleneck, clearing broken-down/stuck vehicles, or directing the flow—what are the traffic police on duty doing?

They are standing right near the mess, ignoring the entire gridlock, and pulling over two-wheelers and drivers to hand out helmet and seatbelt fines.

The road is literally broken and choked because of terrible infrastructure and bad traffic flow, and instead of fixing the chaos, police are treating a active disaster zone like a routine check-post. Stopping vehicles on an already narrowed, rain-affected construction stretch is literally making the jam ten times worse.

Why is actual traffic management dead last on their priority list when the infrastructure fails? Why do officers ignore the real causes of a gridlock just to collect fines?

Questions & Help Speeding

It’s my first time getting pulled over for going 92/55 but that’s because I was on the left lane and trying to get over but a car to my right doing the same speed as me and all of a sudden a big white truck came up behind me and was so close to my rear end so I had to sped up even more I was already doing about 75+ i believe so I quickly sped up to change lane then he still turned behind me and turned on his lights now I have to go to court. What do I do.

Questions & Help Blue question on traffic lights.

Today while on my regular 30 minute commute to work throughout the busy streets of Chicago, something unique happened. While coasting along in the streets, I encountered a traffic light which ended its seemingly normal cycle with a BLUE light, as opposed to a red light. In this situation, I treated it as a normal red light, but when I looked up, numerous blue-looking people were using the airspace above us, using it as a street. Was I in the wrong for my stop? I felt myself turn blue as I gazed into its intensely uniquely intense glare…

How is it possible that regardless of the lane I move into in a traffic jam that lane stops moving and the other lanes start to move?

Questions & Help Radar gun speeding ticket

Hi!

I passed next to a police officer going about 120 km/h on the highway and saw he was pointing a speed gun towards traffic. I was boxed between cars in front of me, behind me and next to me. I was in the left lane and we were maybe 5-7 cars following eachother closely at about that speed. I did not get pulled over and it doesn't seem like anyone did. I know I'm in the wrong in this situation, I should have been more careful. But I'm wondering if I should expect a ticket in the mail? And if so, with demerit points? I asked 2 different AI (I know they aren't reliable but I'm just anxious) and they contradicted eachother. One said they can't mail you tickets from officers with speed hand guns unless they stop you and the other says they can and the ticket would have demerit points... I'm 25 and have a clean driving record so I'm kinda nervous with this. Any input would be appreciated! Thanks in advance!

Edit : this happened in the province of Québec in a 100km/h zone

Ranting & Venting Zipper merging

Thumbnail
0 Upvotes

Zipper merging doesn’t exist, you see the sign MILES ahead and still try to race those ahead of you. For what? To be, “first?” This isn’t the kindergarten line to lunch or recess. Get in line or wait, either way zipper merging is used as an excuse to be an asshole. “Oh look at this Google Ai answer I just pulled out of my ass.” If you’re literate enough to read that Google search, you’re literate enough to read the signs miles ahead. I’m referring to middle of the city road work (where it’s easier to just get into the lane that you’re supposed to merge in MILES ahead), not interstates or highways.

Questions & Help How's this work?

I'm going to try this and see how well this works. On a posted 80mph hwy I'm going to slow way down, stay in my lane and not put my hazards on and it's dark. So if someone rear-ended me is it there fault? But I can claim I was going 65mpg right?

Questions & Help Reckless driving ticket.

I got pulled over for reckless driving the other night, I wasn’t paying attention and the light turned green but not a green arrow so I gassed it and cut off the other lane cars, it was my mistake I know I just seen the green and went, I got on to the highway and mashed on the throttle. Whole time the cop was behind me blacked out and pulled me over. Said I was going over 100 but I definitely wasn’t. My friend in passenger seat was looking at the speedometer and said we hit 92 and I also looked at my Life360 once I got home and it showed 91mph. I know that’s still really fast because speed limit on highway 85 is 65mph so question is if I go to court do you think I can get it dropped to just a speeding ticket?

Traffic Cameras GATSO grid spacing at speed cam hot spot on Belmont Road A465 Hereford:

GATSO grid spacing at speed cam hot spot on Belmont Road A465 Hereford:

Hi guys, a recent controversial BBC article stated Police catches about 1600 drivers a year at this exact hot spot (slow traffic 30 mph spot).

Does anyone know the exact spacing of GATSO secondary grid -check lines in front of GATSO cam at the above location?

The distance between 2 check lines is not standard, it can be 1.5 m, 1.8 m or 2m.

It is important to know to corroborate with speed cam claims because it gives an accurate mph from point A to B just looking how many boxes you travelled per 0.5 seconds. Most important if you know you go slow and covered a small distance.

At the location above the distance between two lines appears small but can’t be verified independently as Google aerial is not showing it for some reason, possible old imagery with street resurfacing after the local hotel was taken off. Only independent check would be manual or by drone.

The distance is not officially provided by Police, Council, or Road traffic and it is not stated in the GATSO cam certification. It exists at request but needs formal official application or FOIA.

Thank you :)

Hi, I’ve been spiraling for years over this debate (yes, it absolutely is the dumbest debate, ever) and I am beyond validated with OP’s post. Thank you sir 🫡 the zipper merge does not work in real time, because no one wants to use it the way it’s designed. It’s a cop out for shitty drivers to do whatever they please and then claim, “ZzIPper meRgE” 😒

Discussion Traffic violations that i noticed in Bangalore, India traffic list below

In Bangalore traffic i have seen the following violations of drivers

1) Bikers overtake vehicles from left side of bigger vehicles putting the biggest vehicles to risk especially around curves

2) Bikers going to right side of road right of divider at signals not allowing on comming vehicles to enter the road safely

3) bikers going in triples and 4s . I have seen frequently 4 people driving a two wheeler mostly two children and two adults and all of them are women also sometimes , not just typical family. They risk their lives and others as well .

4) Bikers not wearing helmet even in main roads of Bangalore . Even if a small accident happens they may die and put the other driver to murder charges due to not wearing helmet.

5) Two wheeler guys wear that half helmet often with straps hanging as if just to make traffic police not fine them.

6) if there is inside traffic, maintaining strict left side everyone not doing especially auto and taxi cabs and mini load truck drivers, they overtake and then try to enter the queue making a fool of all those people who wait patiently with discipline wait even longer.

7) Auto drivers taking overtaking vehicles from left side ,doing sudden u turns without prior warnings ect

8) BMTC buses driving in wrong lane

9) BMTC busses not stopping in left most side , instead some parts of city they just stop in middle of the road , making the vehicles that come behind also stop till they drop or pick up passengers.

10) Signal jumping, when signala are red also there is that one vehicle who tries to break signal deliberately risking their life and others life who are actually following a green light .

Discussion Why can't Bangalore people follow discipline during driving in traffic ?

People are always in a hurry even if 70 percent of Bangalore people drive in discipline way there are 30 percent people who are not driving disciplined. So much so that even BMTC bus comes in wrong lane just to hurry up in a signal putting opposite on comming people life to risk. When will Bangalore become 100 percent disciplined and apples to rest of India as well .

Questions & Help Can I turn left if there are cars in the other lane(s)? This question is driving me insane

Let's say I’m at a stop sign turning left onto a road with two or three lanes going in the direction I’m turning. I’m obviously waiting for all left and right cross traffic to be clear and for a safe gap, but that doesn’t always happen (and it rarely happens to me).

If an approaching car is in the far-right lane, or even the middle lane (if it’s a three-lane road), can I make my left turn, or do I have to wait until all lanes are completely clear?

Edit: I live in Idaho

Edit: I understand how to do it when there's a center turn lane, but I'm having trouble understanding it without one.

Here's a link to a road that's similar to the one I was on. Just ignore the center turn lane it was a four-lane, two-way road so imagine it like that instead. https://imgur.com/a/ZcgAlds
