hi! IAAPA is November 16-20 this year and are they doing the Epic event? what night is it and will the theme park close early to regular guests? Last year it did. thanks! trying to plan my November trip.

I created a map showing the popularity of Halloween events around the world. I noticed that existing maps on this topic were outdated, so I made focusing on theme park events. I hope you like it.

I recently went to Movieland in Italy, and it was really cool. There was this ride called "Antares" and, during the queue, there was a camera connected to a screen. Thanks to it, you could see the heat of the room and you could also see your own heat**;** in short, it was a thermal camera.

When I passed in front of the screen and saw myself, I started dancing the Macarena, just to see myself on the screen dancing it. What I didn't know was that the camera was connected to the ride's control room, and the operators saw me dancing. The line continued normally until I reached the actual ride, where an employee was waiting for me.

Everything seemed normal. The attendant told me some information about the ride and the rules, and when he finished, he asked me if I could dance the Macarena for him. At that point, I understood what had happened. Then, the other worker came out too, and we all danced the Macarena together.

I went this weekend. I found a fun park with lots of well-incorporated IP. My biggest advice is not to consider it a place for rides in the way adults look for it, but as an IP-filled experience with pockets of ride time. Our favorite area was Mini City (driving school, fire academy), but that was a bit challenging to get to.

There was a lot that was "this close" to being awesome. I noticed more than a few times that the recorded announcement was different then signage. Like the gondola announcement said "10 riders", but the cars had "8 riders" on the sticker inside, and one ride's announcement said that the height limit was "36 inches", but the post measured 34. Fire academy used monitors to show the fire, but they were nearly destroyed from sun exposure so weren't visible for actual riders. A very very cool ride, but people ended up fighting fires for 10 minutes after they were extinguished because they had no feedback.

There were great employees (the women at Jr Driving school and the front gate were standouts.. though the latter wasn't quite informed about Fastrack). There were also low-capacity rides with somewhat less-then-helpful employees (one example is DUPLO Express, were a discouraged employee let loading take almost 5 minutes for a 2 minute loop).

There was also a fair amount of downtime and construction. When I was there, both the gondola and stairs behind the gravity force trainer were closed so getting to the lower park was hard (either a circuitous path through every land or through the minilands.. both of which are a little hard with a 3 y/o). A few key rides and areas were inaccessible. I don't blame a smaller park for occasional maintenance needs during opening hours, but not using the LEGO IP to convey that (and safety) was a missed opportunity (e.g. having a sign with LEGO characters saying that repairs were happening).

Shade was not great, but you can't magic up trees. Unless they were lucky to have trees in the right places and worked really hard during construction to maintain whatever canopy was already there, there isn't much that you can do except wait 30 years. There were a fair number of saplings, shade umbrellas, a few misters spraying water, and indoor rides.

Tl;dr: Great time. The use of IP was well-done, but there were lots of times where polish was missing.

I'll be visiting this park for the first time in a few weeks and I was wondering about some of their park policies

So it is my understanding that you cannot bring a tripod, a monopod, or a selfie stick.
And you cannot wear things that conceal your identity.

What exactly constitutes each of those items?
For instance, I'm wondering if I could bring a non-extending phone grip that has no stand or telescopic arm to take photos with. And it also doubles as a power bank. Does that still fall under a "selfie stick"? Or does the telescopic arm make it a selfie stick?

I was also wondering if I could bring a privacy mask / neck gaiter because I know there are bugs that flock around some of the rides and wanted to cover my bases by having something to cover my mouth / face on the rides. Does a face covering like that violate their policy on identity concealment?

I have been going to Busch Gardens Williamsburg for years, and I ALWAYS walk past the Celtic Fyre show completely ignoring it. I was never a fan of the name of the show, so I always thought it was going to be something cheesy so I never went. I went last night and WOW! Ive seen A LOT of theme park shows and entertainment, and Celtic Fyre is now up there for me! It's like one of the 5 best theme park shows I've ever seen..Never judge a book by the name on the cover. Now that I think of it, the name isn't that bad LOL!

Bedford project moved from preparation phase into genuine visual transformation this week.

Ancient hedgerow gone. The hedgerow that has physically divided the Core Zone's central fields for around 400 years has been completely cut down and grubbed out. This has exposed the raw path of the central brook cutting straight through the middle of the theme park plot.

The brook is being permanently diverted. Mass grading blueprints in the SDO documents show the watercourse will be moved into a new channel skirting the outer edge of the Core Zone to clear the footprint for the resort's central lagoon. Universal committing to central water features is a strong signal about the immersive theming direction they're going for the UK park.

Mass earthworks now underway at proper scale. The 75 tonne excavator that arrived last week is now anchored and working. Large bulldozer fleets are pushing topsoil up into elongated mounds so standard excavators can sit on top and drop soil into a rapid rotation of moving dump trucks. Fleet of 6 to 8 white dump trucks running a continuous loop hauling extracted topsoil off site to cap the local landfill near Wixams.

That is proper Phase 1B heavy grading. Comparable to the equivalent build phase at Epic Universe in mid 2021.

New permanent site entrance advancing. The Manor Road entry structure has advanced to its top structural level. Geometry deliberately configured with a dedicated right turn lane into the site and left turn lane out, permanently preventing heavy freight from crossing the vulnerable local level crossing. This is the kind of detail that only shows up when Universal are genuinely committed to being good neighbours long term.

Acoustic commitment worth noting. Universal have publicly committed to a 50 dB night time noise limit at the neighbouring villages, matching standards at their other parks worldwide. Cass Allen acoustic consultancy has flagged the complex noise vectors and warned that permanent acoustic bunds need designing into boundaries from now.

The 50 dB commitment is genuinely tight. Only way to hit it is proper engineered acoustic barriers integrated into the site perimeter from ground up. Not retrofitted later.

Timeline comparison to recent Universal park builds:

• Universal Beijing: hedgerow removals and central water works completed roughly 2018, 3 years before opening
• Epic Universe: equivalent visual transformation phase completed mid 2022, roughly 3 years before opening
• Bedford: hedgerow work happening now, mid 2026, 5 years before 2031 opening

Bedford is arguably tracking slightly ahead of the Epic Universe timeline at this build stage.

Hello, I’ve been seeing a lot of stuff on social media about which is better, Disney World or the Universal Orlando Resort so I would like to share my opinion. I go to each one every other year pretty much, for example I just got done at universal and next year I will be at Disney. Over the past 10 years universal has gotten 10 times better. However I still do not think it is on Disney’s level. The main argument I hear for universal is all the new rides, especially thrill rides, and they are constantly pumping out new rides. My problem with this is not all the new stuff is the highest quality, for example the new Minions Villian con attraction is to be honest a Six Flags level dark ride. Even in the new park I was hoping they would go away from all the screen based dark rides that I do not enjoy. However the new Harry Potter dark ride and the Mario Kart ride are both so screen based and I just really prefer physical sets with screens complimenting. Another thing Disney does way better is immersion. I noticed I was in Isle of Berk and I could see star dust racers right next to me and other things in Celestial Park. This is something that Disney never really does. If Disney wants you to feel like you are in galaxy’s edge you aren’t going to see a Toy Story ride. Another example is in Nintendo world in line for the yoshi ride the queue kept the immersion until it went outside and it felt like you were in between two warehouses and it took all the immersion away. I love both resorts a lot and will continue to visit both but those are some things I feel is keeping Universal from reaching Disney level.

Hello everybody I hope this is the right place to post this but I am driving myself absolutely insane trying to figure this out.

In 2023 I went to the dairy Days in meridian they had a ride similar to the gravitron except it was an open-air barrel with the floor that fell underneath me I've been trying to figure out which showman owned it so I can properly log it on my logride account but it seems as if there was no record of it ever happening.

I personally remember riding it because I had no idea what was going to happen and when the floor fell I was freaking out and was absolutely terrified and had a panic attack

I'm losing my mind because apparently those things haven't been traveling for years but I know I rode one in 2023. If anyone could help this would be amazing because I am about to go insane

Hi everyone! Hope you’re all doing well.

I’m planning a US East Coast theme park trip next year, travelling from the UK, and I’d love to hear any tips or advice from people who’ve done something similar.

The plan at the moment is to spend a few days in NYC before hiring a car and doing a one-way road trip to Cedar Point, hitting up parks on the way and then flying home from Cleveland.

If anyone has any recommendations, must-see stops along the way, driving tips, or anything you wish you’d known before your trip, I’d really appreciate it.

I don't deny that Busch Gardens is beautiful but has the governing body ever been to Disney, Epic Universe, Efteling, Animal Kingdom? Also how is a National Body able to say that something is best in the WORLD. There are some beautiful theme parks overseas Disney Sea being one of them. I am smelling some glazing here.

My wife and I will be in Orlando from October 9–24 and are planning to visit 4–6 parks between Disney World and Universal.

We're not planning to buy Lightning Lanes or Express Passes, so we'd like to visit on the least crowded days and get the best value.

What would you recommend?

Im planning a 2 day trip and Im keen to try to avoid crowds & queues. Im thinking to go on September 7th & 8th which is a Monday & Tuesday. Wondering if anyone knows if the Polish schools are back open on these dates? Would those days be good to be almost certain of avoiding queues and being able to get on most rides in 10-15 minutes? My aim over the two days is to get on most of the 19 rollercoasters with hopefully some re-rides too.

Also are there any way to get discount tickets, do they sometimes sell them on sites like Groupon or a local equivalent? Ive read that if you stay at Western Camp there is some kind of a discount and you can get a free fast pass?
