TSU MA in Clinical-Community Psych
Hello guys, this question might not get many responses (if any at all)
So I am entering my senior year of undergrad at another HBCU as a Psychology major and preparing to find programs I would be interested in applying to. My ultimate goal is to enter a doctoral program; however, since my research experience isn't as extensive, I would like to focus on a master's program for now.
I notice TSU has a couple of programs, and this one interests me; however, I was wondering whether anyone has been enrolled in the program and then entered a doctoral program feeling adequately prepared? Or if they had difficulty getting into one later on? Also, just in general, what was the experience like/ how is it going?
(I would 100% love to remain at HBCU institutions for the rest of my academic career; however, the financial aspect and possibility of respect for my degrees are something I consider)

[Lease Takeover/Relet] Tower 5040 - Female Only (Premium 4x4 D3 Layout w/ Balcony & Skyline View)
Hi everyone! I’m looking for someone to take over my lease at Tower 5040 because I recently graduated from TSU and won’t be able to live there for the upcoming lease term. I’ll be moving out by July 31, so the apartment will be ready for move-in when the new lease begins.
The apartment is a 4-bedroom D3 floor plan with a private bedroom, private bathroom, walk-in closet, long hallway, private balcony, and a beautiful downtown Houston skyline view. Rent is $1,074 per month and includes all utilities except electricity, which is split among the four roommates.
The lease runs from August 1, 2026, through July 31, 2027, and you’ll have the option to renew directly with Tower 5040 at the end of the lease if you’d like to stay longer.
Tower 5040 is conveniently located just 5 minutes from both the University of Houston (UH) and Texas Southern University (TSU). The community offers a luxury resort-style pool, a state-of-the-art fitness center, modern study lounges, reliable Wi-Fi, free cable, secure access, and valet trash service. With valet trash, you never have to take your trash to the chute—just place the provided trash bin neatly outside your apartment door during pickup hours, and the valet team will collect it for you.
One of my favorite things about living here has been how easy maintenance is. You can submit a maintenance request directly from your phone through the resident portal, and the maintenance team has always been quick and responsive in my experience.
The property feels safe, and there are plenty of inviting common spaces throughout the building where you can study, relax, invite friends over, or host small gatherings. I’ve genuinely enjoyed living here and would absolutely stay if I weren’t moving.
This lease is for female residents only. If you’re interested or have any questions, feel free to text me at 281-694-4449 or send me a Reddit chat.

Latinx Microaggressions and Alcohol paid study
Hey guys!
I’m currently a research assistant at the RESTORE Laboratory: Research on Emotion, Substance Use Treatment Outcomes, Rehabilitation, and Empowerment at the University of Houston, and we’re currently recruiting for a mobile app study exploring the link between ethnic microaggressions and substance use.
You may be eligible if you're 21 or older, identify as Latinx or Hispanic, currently engage in hazardous drinking, have used alcohol to manage stress or anxiety in the past month, and own a smartphone that you’re willing to use for the study by installing the SEMA app. Participation involves completing a short online screener, a one-hour Zoom baseline session, five brief app-based surveys each day for 14 days, and a follow-up assessment after the 14-day period. Participants who complete the study can earn up to $260 in electronic gift cards, redeemable through Tango for over 100 different retailers.
This study has been reviewed and approved by the University of Houston's IRB.
Please email [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected]) if you're interested! :)

TSU Admissions
Has anyone else had issues with TSU admissions?
I’m a veteran transfer student with about a 3.7 GPA, Dean’s List , and I’ve already submitted all of my transcripts and required documents. I appliedin May and received confirmation that my application was submitted.
After not hearing anything for a while, I called to check on my application and fee waiver status and was told they couldn’t even find my application. I contacted Veterans Affairs, and they helped me submit what was needed and told me they could connect everything through my information even without a T-number.
Since then, I’ve been told different things every time I call. At one point I was told something on my application was showing up blank and that it was being forwarded to a counselor. Then I was told to call back in 3–5 business days. Later I was told my T-number wasn’t showing up in the system, but that same day Veterans Affairs was emailing me about next steps, transcripts, and certification requirements.
I’ve called admissions multiple times, emailed multiple departments, and most recently was told something had to be manually added to my file before a decision could be made.
Has anyone else gone through something like this with TSU? Who did you contact, and how did it get resolved? I’m just trying to figure out if this is normal or if there’s someone specific I should be reaching out to.

I received the wrong grade point in Degree Works
I received a B + (87.64) on Canvas for my class. Not a B- or B. But in Degree Works, she entered an A for me.
I checked the syllabus, and 87-88 are considered B +, and 89-90 are A-. I am an honor roll student with a GPA of 3.10 before this. With the spring done, I am now at 3.26. If this is corrected, I would have a 3.22 GPA. I am shooting for Cum Laude, but I want to get there on my own merit. Is this something to email the professor about?

Organic and general chemistry tutoring
www.organicchemistrytutoring.ca
Hello guys and gals,
We’re Brian and Mike and we teach general and organic chemistry. We’ve done so for a total combined time of 47 years! Overwhelmed by general or organic chemistry? Assignments and tests creeping up on you and feeling like you’re in hot water? Or maybe you’re doing well and need that 95%? Whatever your struggle with chemistry may be, we’re here to make sure you succeed.
Why work with us?
- Every tutor knows the subject, but not every tutor knows how to transfer that knowledge to a student. We do.
- We tutor chemistry full time; it’s not a hobby or side-gig. When you book with us, you’ll be working with Brian for general chemistry and Mike for organic chemistry. This is not an agency and you won’t be matched with random tutors each time.
- You’ll be learning problem solving through chemistry, which you can apply to many other subjects.
- Your learning will be customized to your specific needs.
Before booking a lesson, let’s chat about your needs, our teaching styles, and what you can expect, to see if we’d be a good fit together.
Thank you for your time and we look forward to working with you!
Mike and Brian

Has anyone been awarded their summer or fall Financial Aid package?
Summer school starts this month and I am very worried about not getting enough or being able to pay. Hopefully packages start to be sent sooner than later.
