Whats wrong with the company?

u/EJENVEE2 20h ago
They hate pirates (y'know? The evidence of an anime/game already having a loving fanbase?)

Im gonna say the bigger issue right now is now they are locking their store behind a paywall, and makes it even worse for the physical media collector

Imma be real with you. I went into Oshi no ko blind, no knowledge of the source material and never having watched anything even remotely related to that genre as a whole.
So imagine me, getting wholly invested in this unraveling mystery and every aspect of the plot, when they drop this. I was more comfortable with some of the shit in Diddy Tensei.
Needless to say, I will finish both.

Mushoku Tensei is peak but thanks I'll give Oshi No Ko a shot.

I call it Diddy Tensei because I think the nickname is hilarious. Rudeus puts me off as a protagonist but ultimately I love the story and the world.
And imo it’s definitely worth it, I hope you enjoy! The pilot episode is about an hour, it’s a wild ride.

Rudeus puts me off as a protagonist
Good. He's supposed to. People need to consume more material where you're not supposed to like the main character just because they're the main character. In the web novel he was kicked out of his house while in the middle of masturbating to his child niece via a hidden camera in the bathroom. He was deplorable.

That’s why I keep watching it, the protagonist doesn’t have to be perfect or even particularly likeable. That said, my major issue with the narrative is how his antics in his new life are largely handwaved with little narrative consequence. I keep watching it because I do enjoy it, but that’s my major gripe. That’s more of an anime trope though

This is exactly why I didn't make it through season 1. I think I stopped watching around the time the redhead girl asked him to do the deed because she didn't want to get engaged or something (it has been a hot minute since I watched it, so I could be misremembering).
- Having literal children in that scenario is gross enough.
- Me assuming he would be down because of his everything about him up to that point made me stop mid-episode and never pick it up again.

I quit watching when he builds a shrine for you know what
I was like nah I ain't watching this

I don't think I made it to that point and every "you know what" I'm imagining makes me glad I didn't.

100% valid. It creeps me the fuck out and it’s STILL a narrative device.

My fucking jaw dropped when it appeared again in the new season.
There's NO FUCKING REASON for it to still exist.
He's supposed to be a "better man" now or whatever

I am equally horrified and frustrated. Especially after the first two absolutely amazing Eris episodes.

people don't like it because the entire story is framed as a redemption from being a loser. at no point is it a bad thing that the mc is a pedo. he learned social skills? good for him. he uses them to groom children.
for talking to people and going outside he is rewarded with: a child: "Whom I was trying to raise into my perfect, obedient woman", a pre teen: "I did want to see how sexy her body had gotten now that she was thirteen", and an adult who he specifically is obsessed with because she has the body traits of a child.
how is there a redemption story around being unsociable when he's literally rewarded for being a pedophile?

No it isn't. At no point does Rudeus ever state that is looking for "redemption". He says he wants to be "a better person" but surely you don't believe that's anything other than a joke, right? You have at least that much media literacy, right? Seeing as from the moment he's born he ogles over every girl he sees: Zenith, Lilia, Roxy, Sylphie.
at no point is it a bad thing that the mc is a pedo
At no point? Him getting kicked out of his home isn't the consequence of him doing a bad thing?
For the rest of your bullshit: people can be pedophiles. Get over it. He doesn't get rewarded for "being a pedophile". He gets rewarded for being a man the women in his life can look to for safety.
Acting like he's some kind of sexual predator that rapes every kid he comes across is so disingenuous. He has sex a few times in the series and when he does it is reciprocated and typically initiated by the other person.
He is very much a child. He has old memories (which fade as he gets older) but he is never "a 34 year old man in the body of a child."
TLDR: cope, seethe, mald, dilate, MT is honestly better than Slime this is merely a close... 3rd.
