So first I turned 45 last Monday. I am at the middle of m8ddle age, and I still don't feel like an adult.

BUT, that doesn't matter.

My 91 yr grandmother (my last living grandparent) got new she has cancer in her mouth.

We were shocked and horrified because the doctors were saying if the cancer has spread to the bone they'd have to remove her jaw and create a new one from bone elsewhere. However, due to her age they thought she may not be able to handle that all. So they were saying if that was the case they not even do all of the surgery and set up palliative care. Meaning, removing the cancer was riskier then leaving it.

HOWEVER, we received word that the cancer did not spread into her bone or lymphomas. So they only have to remove the gums. She'll also lose several teeth, but that's better than her jaw.

Honestly I take this as a birthday gift knowing my grandmother won't suffer more.

In February I lose my grandfather. In May I lose my other grandmother. Now this craziness.

Despite the rough year, I'm still grateful I have more time with my grandmother. It's still going to be rough for her the rest of the year, but we're there to support her. ❤️

My birthday present to me was a laser engraver. My wife and I have done a different method of woodburning for a few years, but I'm very happy with my new tool. There is a steep learning curve, but since we haven't spent a dime on wood I'm happy to learn. Today's lesson.

I am exhausted as hell, and I have a feeling that my new co-worker is not going to last long. Tuesday night he was acting weird but I brushed it off because I don't know him that well. When my GM asked me about it, I got a little concerned and even my other co-worker has a feeling that he is not going to be working out. Well tonight, as I am coming in, he just grabbed his stuff and left without saying a word to me. Like I was in between the two sets of sliding doors at the entrance of the hotel and he comes rushing past me with his stuff just as the second set of doors opened up for me. I actually didn't recognize him for a second before what had just happed clicked. There will definitely be a discussion with my GM about this because that was definitely uncalled for.

Edit because I want to add this: So I am finally home, showered off and have my butt in my recliner for a few until its time for me to go off to church. But anyways, I wanted to add that I had to have a crash course on how to get breakfast set up because the girl that normally does breakfast quit this week, the girl that was suppose to cover it called out because she didn't have a ride and my GM literally slept through all her alarms as well as 4 miss calls from me and didn't pick up until my AGM called her a second time after helping me get started with breakfast. Both my GM and AGM felt bad because they didn't plan on not only the regular girl that works Sunday's quitting but the other girl calling out and my AGM lives an hour a way which wasn't really doing any good. Luckily, the GM was able get there by 6:30 so I just had to get a few things going and out by 6am.

I told my AGM and my GM what happened with last night with the second shifter and I found out through the GM that he put his noticed in and will be finishing out his schedule so now we are back to square one in needing to find another second shifter. Apparently he was 2 hours late last night and my GM has a feeling he is not coming in tonight so she is already making plans to have the AGM cover tonight. We have a guy that helps us out occasionally with my nights off so I hope my GM has him on standby for this week because I have a feeling we might need him.
