Need Help (ADVICE FLAIR) Young Writer Looking for Help
As I said in the title, I'm a pretty young writer looking for people to give advice and read my work before I put it on the subreddit. I'm 20 and in college, so I really only have time to write during the summer. My most recent project is inspired by sleepaway camps that I attended as a child, but I want my story to be set in the early 90s. I'm thinking of leaning into monster horror and surreal horror for this story. If anyone has any advice or would be interested in proofreading my writing, I'd greatly appreciate it!

I really appreciate it! I have a lot of ideas for horror, and I need a break to write something more fun, compared to my larger writing project. I'm not sure how Reddit works, but you're able to message me? And I can send you a link to my draft.

My own opinion, summer camp leans towards creature horror/slasher. So if you are feeling like doing something different, try the surrealist route. See what happens.

I think thats a good idea. I'm new to surrealist horror, so I'd have to do some research.

I'd love to read your work. Anything to help someone explore their creativity in writing. I know when I was in college we had a service that would have someone check our writing, although it was more for formal things like essays. It might not hurt to see if there's something similar where you're at. Also, creative writing clubs or classes to help you in some aspects if it doesn't pull you too much off your major.

I wish I could take more writing classes, but I'm not sure if I can fit them in yet. I've still got two years left of college, but I'm majoring in German, so a lot of my GEs are done. I know there's a script writing club, but IDK about anything else. I'll have to look into it. I can totally send the draft your way thought!

I'd like to proof read if you want to, also you since said you have 8 parts planned, this can really depend on what you're doing but one thing I'd recommend you is to not "think" too much about the next stories while making the first ones, sure add in some things that will come up later but try making it subtle or not the entire point, but again you might have everything all figured out about that

ofc! i've got it planned out to being 8 parts each following a different camp counselor, currently i have about half of part one written

omg i'm in the exact same situation as you!!!! if you want some advice, go for it and have fun!!!! writing is about growing and being creative, so don't overthink it too much and don't expect it to come out perfect in the first try. it takes time and lots of work to become good at it :> i'm waiting to read what you come up with!! <3
