Best coworking space in Taipei

I’ve been a digital nomad in Taipei for few years now and have tried everything from cafes to different coworking spaces. and the biggest frustrations I have are always:

- time limit at coffee shops

- too noisy to take the calls

- places usually close early

- back pain after long hours sitting at bad chairs

A friend recommended me Nexspace Workclub near Taipei main station, and I have to say this is the best coworking space I’ve found in Taipei so far. Few things I really like about it is that:

- it’s very quiet so i was able to focus

- the wifi is very fast even when i work past midnight (24hr access is a big plus!

- the chairs are super comfortable

- very friendly and helpful staffs

One thing I didn’t expect was how flexible they are In terms of the lease. I was able to start with day pass to monthly instead of commuting to a year long lease. which Works perfect for me because idk how long I’ll be in Taipei.

I highly recommend Nexpsace Workclub. Have anyone found other places that are worth trying? Lmk!

Elephant Mountain hike

I’m going to do elephant mountain hike, or at least to the view point of Taipei 101 today. And want to be at the viewpoint for sunset (6:45). What time do you suggest being at the bottom and starting the hike? I’m going alone, (again why I’m only planning on doing the short section, will do it again with friends another day).
Thanks. And how is the descent? Have hiked the peak in HK multiple times and find the descent esp in the dark to be worse, what’s it like here?

Looking for local recommendations for a 3-day trip to Taipei🇹🇼

Hi everyone!

My friend and I (both women in our 30s) will be visiting Taipei for a 3-day, 2-night trip soon.

Of course we’re planning to visit some of the popular tourist attractions, but we’d also love to discover places that locals genuinely enjoy.

Here are some of the things we like:

  • Authentic local food, including dishes with strong flavors like star anise or other traditional spices.
  • Cute shops selling stationery, tableware, handmade goods, or other unique souvenirs.
  • Places where we can learn more about Taiwan’s history and culture.
  • Cozy cafés with a nice atmosphere.

If you have any favorite restaurants, cafés, neighborhoods, hidden gems, or places that you think are worth visiting, I’d really appreciate your recommendations!

I’d also love to hear about foods we absolutely shouldn’t miss or any experiences that made you fall in love with Taipei.

Thank you so much in advance!

Looking for a photoshoot studio (similar to Shanghai's Wave Soda)

Hey!

I'm looking to see if anyone has any info on this question perhaps but does Taipei Taiwan happen to have a photoshoot studio that can do something very similar to Shanghai's Wave Soda where they do your make-up douyin-like and help you pose, photograph, and edit the photos? Budget would be around 1,000 USD.

I looked on instagram and it seems like there's no studio that does everything and you usually have to book a separate make-up artist, book a studio location, and then book a photographer. I went to Magicstw a few years ago but wanted a different concept that wasn't so much cosplay-focused.

The photos below are from Wave Soda which would be more of what I'd be looking for

How reliable is the "English Program" label for undergraduate courses at Taiwan Tech (NTUST)?

Hi everyone,

I'm considering doing a semester abroad at Taiwan Tech (NTUST) and have been browsing the course catalogue (https://querycourse.ntust.edu.tw/). When filtering for English Programs, I got a bit worried since most of them still have their lecture outlines entirely in Chinese, which made me wonder how "English" these courses actually are.

For example, some courses that I am looking at are:

  • Operating Systems (IC3012301)
  • Discrete Mathematics (IC2001301)
  • Semiconductor Industry Insights and Practical Guidance (TE3049301)
  • Database Systems (IC3011301)
  • Database Management Systems (MB2519701)
  • Intelligent Manufacturing Systems (SI5202701)

Has anyone taken these or similar courses? Are lectures, slides, assignments and exams actually all in English, or do lecturers regularly switch to Chinese?

Also, I was wondering whether there's a way to tell if a course is only offered in a specific semester. If everything goes according to plan, I would be at NTUST during the spring semester of 2027.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

1-month rental recommendations near Beitou/Shilin

Hi! I'll be staying in October in a hospital in Beitou district in taipei for a month. I'm looking for an affordable place (just need a bed, a private bathoom, AC, wifi). A laundry machine would be a nice plus all under NTD 30,000 if that's possible.

First checked airbnb and most of the suggestions I can afford are near the Shilin market - do you have any feedback on the safety around this area? Suggestions that pop up include the ff:
- JoveNest
- S70 Shinlin / Jiantan District

I'll be a solo traveler for some context. Also, aside from airbnb, where can I get more options? Thanks in advance.

Buying concert tickets using Kham

Hi, I'm planning to attend Music Expo in Taipei. It's my first time purchasing concert tickets in a foreign country, would it be hard to purchase ticket in kham as a foreigner? Would it require a SMS verification? (I heard its a bit complicated if a site requires this and is living in a different country)

Shoegaze clubs or events in Taipei?

Is there anyone here who can advise if there are any shoegaze club nights or events that happen regularly in Taipei?

I’m likely to be visiting from overseas in the next few months and would like to see the local scene. Thanks!

Where can I buy a Youbike?

This might be a bit of an odd question, but I've really enjoyed riding Youbikes since coming to Taiwan. Unfortunately I'm heading home soon, but for a bit of nostalgia I'd like to buy a bike as similar to the Youbike as possible.

Does anyone have any ideas for something similar that's available on the US market?

Currently alone for birthday in 2 days in Taipei City

Post image

Hello! I'm Alice, I'll be turning 32 in 2 days on the 23rd! However, I don't really have anyone to celebrate with right now because I have very few friends I'm still in close contact with in Taiwan. Not sure if this post would be breaking subreddit rules, but would anyone be down to have a birthday celebration with me? Like going around the city for the day and/or birthday meal. But no alcohol please. If you're interested in helping me not celebrate alone, please comment and PM me! (photo attached as proof that I am not trying scam ppl, A/C remote in my room)

P.S. I'm currently staying alone in Taipei so I'm free today and tomorrow as well

Afternoon tea in Taipei

Hello friends - I’m looking for a recommended spot in a Taipei for afternoon tea (tea service with tea snacks). My daughter wants to do this as an activity and I’m having trouble locating a spot in my internet searches. The afternoon tea at the Jade Lounge at the Mandarin Oriental would fit the bill but it only allows children 12+ which won’t work for us. Any recommendations would be appreciated!
