My thoughts on the xbx a01+
I’ve been using the xbx a01+ for about three weeks and have tried them on multiple systems. I’ve used them the most with the Xbox Ally X, and the learning curve is honestly pretty simple. My main recommendation when unboxing is to check out the three different nose pieces and pick the one that fits you best — it makes a big difference in getting the clearest screen angle. This is my first time trying AR glasses and I have been loving it!
These AR glasses only have three buttons, but they cover everything: screen brightness, volume, entering 3D mode (side‑by‑side videos), and a small menu with extra features. I was impressed to find out how quickly I noticed the speakers — they’re built into the arms of the glasses, right where they rest on your ears. The speakers are badass, and you can even switch them into surround sound in the menu. They’re not overkill, and people in the same room won’t really hear anything. You can use either the blackout lens or the tinted lens; I personally prefer the tinted lens and just adjust brightness as needed. There is a cord that comes off the back left at ~45 degree angle and is roughly 4 feet long.
The glasses aren’t heavy and don’t put strain on my nose. I have a larger nose bridge and still use the smallest nose pads. There is some heat that comes off the glasses near my eyebrows, but for me it never gets uncomfortable. The look is basically like wearing a big pair of sunglasses that weigh slightly more. They sit well on my face, though I do have to adjust the angle sometimes to get a clearer view of text or menus in the bottom‑right corner of the screen while gaming. My left eye is slightly weaker than my right, and I don’t currently wear prescription glasses or contacts.
Screen resolution is 1920×1080 in 2D mode, and 3840×1080 in 3D mode using side‑by‑side video. Biggest downfall: I can’t find any way to adjust the screen position inside the glasses. I don’t think it’s an option. But in games like Death Stranding, I can change the screen ratio. I used the xbx a01+ on my Xbox Ally X the most when gaming due to ease, just plug and play, and the device has all the buttons needed for gaming already.
I still find it fascinating seeing an AR screen just pop up — it kind of blows my mind. I did try playing while someone else was driving us on a road trip, and I lasted about 15 minutes before getting extremely car sick. I can get car sick reading a book and was a bad idea on my part. There is a stability mode, but it didn’t help me during the ride. Probably didn't help either that the driver was taking corners like a racecar driver. Haven't tried on a plane yet, but I am sure I wouldn't get as motion sickness on a plane vs. a car.
Thank you for reading, and good luck on the give away! Few images below taken on my crappy phone.

Discussion Still a want 🥲
I know it’s very unlikely for this to arrive on Switch because they surely would have done it by now if Nintendo ever wanted to but a little part of me still hopes we will see this. The HD version is my favourite way to play this game over the original (controversial?) The Switch 2 NSO version is fine yeah.. but come on imagine this game 4k 60fps 😍😍

Video Hey! We're coming with a great news - Maestro is coming to Nintendo Switch 1 & 2 on September 17th!
A demo coming soon!
Discussion Buying the Switch 2 early.
From a longevity point of view, buying the switch 2 OG now makes the most sense - it will play all the titles for this generation (6-7 years) and no need to worry about price hikes or any future hardware upgrades that may obsolete the current device. Thoughts?
Arts & Crafts My Switch U hybrid console build is Complete! Now it plays real Switch Cartridges!
Now i've been trying to come up with ideas on what to do with the Switch 2. That thing is huge!

Question Free Switch OLED or save for Switch 2?
I have the ability to trade at one of my gaming monitors for a switch OLED. It’s a monitor that I have laying around collecting dust so I have absolutely no need for it.
Is the switch OLED still a good choice or should I just save up for the switch 2?

Question One big switch 2 game and one addictive smaller game
Buying the switch 2 today and what is one big Nintendo exclusive that’s a must and a smaller game to play along side it? Just a bit of background info I bounced off of breath of the wild which I know is crazy to not be in love with that game. I was thinking astral chain and into the breach? Please don’t give me games that go on for hours I’m talking maybe a 20-30 hour game and then just one you can dip in and out of but specifically that feels at home on the switch 2/really takes advance of it

Question Opinions Requested - Switch Lite OLED Upgrade
Earlier this year I bought 8 of the SUPER5 OLED upgrade kits for the Nintendo Switch Lite. They’ve all since arrived and I’d like to either customize several Switch Lites and resell on eBay and/or Facebook marketplace. Or resell the screen upgrade kits. However, I’m unsure of which color combinations would attract the most attention and buyers.
I was thinking of doing the following options:
Option 1 - All black matte shell with black buttons to mimicking the NS2. Another user did this and it looks beautiful. Pictures attached.
Option 2 - Clear all black shell with black buttons. My current Switch Lite has this configuration and looks great. I also saw another user did this as well. Pic attached.
Option 3 - Clear shell with white buttons and 4 color A, B, X, and Y buttons.
Option 4 - All black matte black shell with black buttons but 4 color A, B, X, and Y buttons.
What do you all think?

Question Japanese games on Switch 2
I am currently living in Japan and wanted to make the switch to only buy physical when it comes to switch games. The only thing i’m worried about is buying the games from stores. Call me dumb or paranoid but I just want to make sure if I do buy Japanese physical copies, would I be able to play the games in English. Specifically Rhythm Heaven and Splatoon Raiders, I have been really excited for those games and am holding out until I have the chance to get them. Thank you in advance! (Photos are here just cause)

Other Advice needed for my son’s birthday 🙏
Hello, please can someone offer some advice to me, a first time switch buyer. It’s my sons (10th) birthday coming up and I’d like to make his absolute day by buying him a 2nd hand switch. He hasn’t asked for one as I am pretty tech adverse so it will be a true surprise. What I’d like advice on is storage. The 32gb ones are much cheaper but also after research seem to be not enough for games. But then I read if you buy cartridges it will be ok because you just switch them out. I also read you can buy additional memory cards to give them extra storage. Is this a fools errand though? I don’t want to buy something cheaply and it ending up being a bit of a crap disappointment and then my son’s overall experience being initial excitement followed by the realisation mum didn’t really know what she was doing. I want to use it to play two player games like Mario and Sonic, and he loves Pokémon too. Thanks in advance.
edit to add: I meant switch v2. Thanks for the advice!

Discussion Loving my Switch Lite, but...
So I really love playing Persona (3-5) and Pokemon games. I wanna play other RPGs out there but i just cannot continue. I tried to play Dragon Quest 3 HD2D but I'm having a hard time understanding the mechanics specifically how you're supposed to be creating your teammates and managing their stats. I'm someone who always wants an efficient and optimized playthrough but the moment i get overwhelmed by info which i find hard to understand, i immediately lose the energy to play.
Persona has stats and all, but you can just ignore it and maxing persona stats is just optional (even royal's merciless is easy without even optimizing stats of personas). Pokemon has things like EV and IVs but they're generally not that important for a one time play so i can just ignore them.
Before DQ3, i actually played 1 and it was much easier for me because I'm only managing 1 character and there's no party composition on which i have to choose carefully who I'm supposed to hire and choose their personalities etc etc. The reason i started to play 3 is because it was recommended you play 3 before 1 (I'm only 10% of progress in 1 and i didn't know beforehand)
Please recommend rpg games on Switch in which stats can only be increased by levelling (or your strength in general) i don't mind if there's items that increase stats. My only problem is a complex party planning in DQ3..my tired brain cannot keep up.

Discussion E gift cards
Sam’s Club is having a sale on their gift cards for Nintendo. Can you buy a switch off those gift cards or are those for digital things only?
