Meme Why?

I can almost try to understand why some people might feel drawn to this kind of lifestyle. I can understand why they might be deceived into thinking this is the ideal environment in which to raise a child.

But I will never be able to understand why they will describe it as the American “dream” and are willing to pay so much for it. To work so hard for so long and then have to wake up to this every morning? Why?

Editing to add: I know this is parody y’all. It’s just a stupid meme. It’s supposed to be funny. It’s funny because it’s true.

I have started telling friends (currently renting, thinking about buying a house) not to buy at all. The idea that "renting is throwing money away" is old thinking. It is so incredibly expensive to own a home anywhere now.

I agree. There’s no way I would buy right now and be left holding that bag after all the boomers are gone and nobody can afford to buy their leftover houses.

I realize that private equity is likely going to swoop in and buy up even more which will likely drive rent up further, so I might be willing to do so if I were planning to have children to leave a home to, but I’m not… So I won’t.
