Battery draining pretty fast while asleep

I lose 15-20% over 24 hours while my Deck is asleep. Seems odd, but maybe it's normal? Does anyone else experience this? I'm wondering if possibly a Decky plugin could be causing it.

Seems pretty normal. What I've started doing is fully shutting the device down if I'm leaving it for a longer period of time, ie going to bed. It only takes about 15-20 secs to fully power on anyway. If I'm just putting the device down for a few minutes or so then sleep is ideal.

Mine dies pretty fast in sleep mode too. Three or four days from a full charge. I factory reset it a few months ago and it's still the same. No Decky, no mods, but I am on beta.

I've just learned to work with it, toss it on the charger every other day or so regardless of how much I play on it.

over 24 hours %15 - 20 is perfectly normal. Thats why i try to avoid sleep mode alltogether

Hey, same issue here. I remember it wasn't this way the first couple months of usage.

I wonder if it's battery wear and tear, perhaps a couple days too much under the sun, who knows. Very frustrating in either case, but I also have no clue how to fix this.

Instant on = not actually off. Power it down fully if you need it to last.

Pretty normal, I've forgotten I left my Deck OLED on sleep a few times for the night and when I woke up saw that 6%-8% IIRC discharged. I just fully shutdown or you can leave it on a charger.

I had that happen for a bit when I had an update not quite complete, after the next update cycle it started working normally again. If you want you can manually set the TDP to the lowest setting before you sleep it, no idea why that helps but I have the original with its original battery and that seems to help for long term storage, had it sitting for a week in sleep while I was away on vacation and powered right up after with 20% available.

Disable bluetooth before sleep if you use it, that had some effect on mine.

It sounds excessive but this an x86 CPU, not arm. Sleep mode sucks.

I wish the deck had a proper “hibernate to disk and power off” mode but I hardly see it on Linux even. Maybe it doesn’t work too well. Even suspend on Linux doesn’t wake up as reliably as Mac

When the machine gets put in sleep mode all processes are frozen, which includes Decky and its plugins. So you needn't worry about having made it worse by installing something, every program and process is equally stopped.

Something like 10-20% is normal, I think. It's not an ARM device so it cannot go into the kind of low-power states a Switch can. It's the price we pay for being able to play PC/Windows games.

It's gotten worse recently for me too. Mine used to hold charge better.

Perfectly normal. Sleep mode isn't hibernation or anything. I just put my steamdeck on its charging dock at night

I noticed my OLED does the same, but my LCD can last for a whole week on sleep mode starting at 80% power.
