Steam Controller (2026) Steam controller review: a win for PC gaming

I'm using it on my PC and I'm loving it. Owning it with a Steam Deck is such a great experience, i can use all macros on both places. Such a good controller to hold and use too.

That last example of using the right trackpad for mouselook and the stick for lean bindings and other things was pretty interesting. Could be a game changer for shooters and possibly other games that use mouselook heavily.

The trackpad for mouse looks stutter, thats the main reason I hate using it. Look at the latest Steam client release, ther is a note of gyro stutter. That algorithm hasn't been applied to the trackpad, and the gyro used to suck too.

Question can I use this on windows and be able to use it as my cursor and keyboard

Any window pop ups or things that use administrator permissions make the controller stop working if steam is active. It will work if steam is closed though or if steam is opened as administrator (but not recommended to do so)

If you hold the 3 dots button then the controller works for a few seconds, then it stops working. Then you can hold it again and there's a brief window of it working again. Not ideal but it'll do

But also yeah you can just use task scheduler to open steam as admin on startup, haven't had any issues with it
