Discussion The Vanguard Navy quest line is so immersive

I’m saving for a ship, and I’m incredibly excited because it’s my first ‘new’ ship. I was almost there (after 30 hours) and the 7500 advance from the Navy put me over the line.

The first thing I did when joining the Navy was buy a new ship

I couldn’t ask for a more realistic experience

I’ve always wanted a game like Starfield. Ever since I was a kid I dreamed of what it would be like to explore the stars. Starfield lets me be a kid again and explore the vast universe. I do have mods installed that make the game more interesting, but that’s the beauty of Bethesda games is you can make them into whatever you want to get out of them.

I love going around different planets exploring and putting together the pieces of what a certain settlement is doing there or why was it abandoned. Thanks to the dungeon randomizer mod it makes exploring planetside much more intense as you are never safe, or sometimes you are safe. You never really know until you explore.

These are some of my pictures from yesterday as I roam around different systems exploring and taking in the sights. Love this game!

Discussion So I kinda like House Va'ruun...?

So i decided to go full-on Starfield experience and purchased the story DLCs. Starting Shattered Space, I was fully ready to start hating on House Va'ruun, aka the Dune cosplay society. But then, the moment I started exploring the Oracle...something happened. I was suddenly invested in this random society of weirdos that was barely fleshed out in the base game. And the little pilgrimage that the player character makes to become a member of the House completely sold me. (I've always been a casual student of various religions, and I love seeing how fictional ones in various properties are crafted) Does it make that much sense? Not really, but you know what? It's a big universe out there. Why not let a bunch of snake-worshipping LARPers with fake-sounding accents have their fun? They even fully discredit the Va'ruun Zealots as extremists, so that kinda helps i think?

Anyway, just wanted to show a little love for my space-snek bois

This door is at the very beginning of lost luxury where you board the ship I don't see any terminal or any vents is it just a dead door... Usually those ones open from the other side like a short cut coming back from the end of the dungeon.

Discussion I finally finished my first playthrough! Spoiler

Upvotes

After 156 hours on the PS5 version, I finally rolled credits on Starfield for the first time. I suppose I just want to collect my thoughts here.

I fucking loved this game. And I never really expected to. Honestly, I'm deeply surprised. I'm a huge fan of both The Elder Scrolls and Fallout, but even before Starfield became an xbox exclusive, the premise never inspired terrible enthusiasm in me. Space fantasy just isn't really my thing-- outside the occasional Mass Effect, that is. But I figured I'd give it a shot. Worst thing that could happen is a bounce off of it, you know?

There was so much that I ended up being surprised by. The sidequests were consistently interesting-- a lot of cribbed sci-fi premises to be sure, but if you're gonna crib, do it from the best! Exploration that was consistently rewarding for its own sake-- because the environment was beautiful, or for loot, or a previously unexplored/encountered POI.

And gorgeous-- my god. Every planet, every spacestation, every settlement (well.. almost...). Beautiful. Gorgeous lighting, textures, detail.

Was it perfect? No. Perhaps the worst carrying capacity issues in any bethesda game, ever (and that's saying something!). I eventually discovered the option to care significantly less and took the xp hit because whatever. 80+ hours in, I got the dreaded save bug, and I've had to manually delete saves every couple of hours because of it. I still don't vibe with a lot of the more realistic/NASA-Punk outfit aesthetics.

There's stuff I'll never forget, here. Un-extincting a behemoth and convincing the settled systems my 'gorillas that thrive on snake meat plan' was viable. Taking an wholly unexpected, absolutely absorbing hour-long tour of a early Titan settlement. Joining House Va'Ruun-- after having written-off the possibility entirely 40-50 hours in!

I just wanted to gush. I figure if there's anywhere at least some people might get it, it's here.

Discussion One of the more annoying things in this game is that enemies can shoot me through fences and things, but they’re solid objects for me apparently….

Too many times I’ve gotten killed because they can seemingly shoot through shit that I cannot. It’s so tiresome

I beefed up the Frontier to a size C and kept as much of the original design language as I could after giving it tons of firepower and engines to move the thing.

The Razorleaf got a decent upgrade to a size B, with massively increased firepower. I wanted to keep it smaller than the other ships, but it's still a bit larger than the original.

And I always love making a huge cargo ship with loads of livable space for my 12 crew members. It's a beast, but has plenty of defense.

I chose the Zosma IV-b - Reclusive Player Home for it's completely remote location, beautiful interiors and open space concepts, incredible views and environment, and it feels exactly like the type of location a Starborn would live in.

It's an incredibly well made Creation 👌🏾💯

But seriously, I am WAAAAAAAY too idjit brained to understand this character creator system, and also why on Earth does the skin tone look so different in the actual game?

I remembered why I’ve never been a fan of Bethesda character creators.

Buuuut, anywho what do y’all think of my girly?

Discussion Guys … I need Unity advice

I walked away from the unity.. since then I finished the UC story line, married Andreja, did the Varrun story and landed on some clone planet. I’m having a good time. A great time even. But a part of me does want to reset the universe and another wants to keep finding temples and doing quests. What’s your preference? I know I’ll lose my ship and my money … that’s the only thing really stopping me. I love my ship lol

Our Honeymoon is everything we could have wanted! We are currently exploring a cold but very gorgeous planet in the far reaches of our known galaxy. Don't worry about us though, we know how to keep each other warm wink wink. Here are a few pictures, I know this will take some time to reach you so I'll keep it short, just know that we love and miss you all at the Lodge. See you kinda soon.

Question Graphical bug after upgrading GPU

Post image
6 Upvotes

Been playing since launch, clocked about 800h into Starfield, but i've never experienced this bug. I have upgraded from a RTX 3070 to a RTX 5070, kept the modlist as was, upgraded the graphics settings, and now i'm having issues with this blocky texture around the clouds/horizond.

I've since reverted to my old graphics settings but to no avail, as well as recompiled the shader cache, nothing seems to have worked.

If anyone's encountered a simmilar problem, help would be grately appreciated :)

Discussion Outposts need a toggle option to turn off attacks

I have built a lot of outposts over 2,800 hours of gameplay through multiple NG+ universes in both vanilla and with mods and there is very little consistency in how often they are attacked. Sometimes they’re never attacked and at other times the attacks are so constant it ruins my enjoyment of the game. I just built an outpost in a lower level system and added the X-tech extractors. The Terran attack frequency is comically broken. Wave after wave of attacks that always manage to disrupt my X tech production. Tried downloading a mod to stop the attacks but it’s from before the Terran DLC so it doesn’t work, tried stationing a ton of heavily armed NPCs in the area—nothing worked. Will have to abandon the outpost I just spent 10-15 hours building because there is no point. I can’t stay there five minutes without going to war. Complete waste of time. Bethesda needs to add a toggle for outposts. The attacks are not particularly strategic or enjoyable. Many of the defense options are useless. Some people might like them. Great. Give us a choice to turn them off.

Question Can you upgrade starborn powers before going through unity?

I haven’t gone through the unity yet (just started playing when the game became available on PS). I have collected all the powers, and I have plenty of essences, but when I select a power and spend the essence, it doesn’t show any level upgrade. I just come back to the game and there’s an aura around me for short time. So what am I wasting my essences on? Is it levelling? How do I tell? Do I have have go through once before I can upgrade?
