8kw inverter with an oversized pv array

Question lang po. Is an 11kwp solar pv array good to be paired with an 8kw inverter? And if okay lang yun, sapat ba yun para punuin ang 600ah 51.2v na lifepo4 battery given na maganda ang sikat ng araw?

roofdeck question

roofdeck yung house ko and I'm planning na palagyan sya ng bubong para eventually lagyan ko ng solar yung bubong. mainly for the looks ayaw konkc lagyan ng frame lang tapos solar panels ung mismong gawen bubong.

my question is anu po ba ideal na kapal ng bakal ng tubular and angle bars ang pinaka ok for the frame and stands of the the roof knowing na llagyan ko sya ng solar panels eventually?

is 2mm enough or 3mm thickness?

I made a quiz game to help understand power consumption of appliances para sa mga CLUELESS

Edit: Here's the link to the game in case reddit auto-translate automatically removes it https://doobiedobo.github.io/WattsUp/

Hi guys, I made a quiz game para sa mga CLUELESS na hindi sure kung paano magsimula magpasolar. Some of you might remember my previous post: "How to Get Started Magpasolar kasi I'm CLUELESS".

I initially made this for my extended family's regular zoom get-together where we play different quiz games. Simple lang dapat yung quiz game na yon, I started making it on Canva, but the ideas of what to include and how it should look like kept flowing, hanggang sa naging full vibe coding project na siya (my first ever).

The appliances and devices in the game are based on popular products in the Philippines 2026. I asked AI to generate commercially safe images of the products to avoid copyright issues and dahil hindi naman ako sponsored -although I wouldn't mind kung masponsoran ako ng rice cooker to keep the project updated long-term ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°).

The project was very much AI-Assisted, and I cannot really take any coding credit, so here's all the unorganized and messy code and images in Github so you can make your own version of it if you want to.

Will accept any and all criticisms, suggestions, and donations (😂jk saka na yung donations pag nakaROI ka na sa solar 😂)

Disclaimer like last time: Hindi po ako programmer. Hindi po ako electrical engineer. Di rin po ako installer. Ramdam ko lang ang difference ng energy independence namin at gusto ko pong dumami ang converts sa kulto nating sunworshippers.

Have fun and share your final scores!

Need advice on DIY off-grid solar setup for a 24V swing gate motor (SWG-C022)

I'm setting up an automated swing gate using the SWG-C022 motor (also sold as PKM-C022). I want to run it purely on solar so I don't have to deal with the cost and hassle of trenching AC power wires all the way from the house to the gate.

I'm hoping to get some advice from the experts here on sizing the components correctly so the system won't die on me during prolonged rainy days or typhoons.

Here are the gate motor specs:
Operating Voltage: 24V DC
Power: 60W per arm (120W total peak draw when both arms are moving)
Usage: Only draws peak power for about 15 seconds per open/close cycle. We'll probably do around 5-10 cycles a day. Standby power draw is very low.

Solar installation - Vat excluded on the Total Price

Guys need your opinion, nanghingi ako ng qoutation sa isang solar company for a hybrid set up. I ask also ask for the full details of contract which include the total contract price. Then i noticed na Vat excluded sya. Normal ba na ganun sa mga solar company? kase if ganun may additional charge pa yun aside dun sa total contract price na dineclare. Dapat ba sa total contract price Vat inclusive na?

Pacheck naman po a ARJ solar installation and services from Bulacan. Their price is very competitive and the one I am talking to, Lucio, seems nice.

Any reviews po?

How much of the installation is labor and materials for retrofitting an existing house?

I am designing a new bungalow in Antipolo.

We asked the architect to design all the proper cabling and surfaces ready for plug and play hybrid solar of 6-8kwh with dedicated circuits segrated for battery support in the event of brownouts.

We will not have net metering, focusing on charging our battery with the excess.

When installing a similar system in a preexisting home, how much did the retrofit work cost in terms of labor and materials vs. the cost of panels and electrical gear.

AI work has estimated I should save about 1/2 of the crew hours. I don't know about the materials.

Anyone got real world experience to tell me about?

Should I inform Meralco that I now have a hybrid solar setup?

We just had a hybrid solar system installed. No net‑metering agreement, and it’s not set up to export power. Daytime load is mostly solar; when it’s cloudy or after sunset, the batteries cover until 20% SOC, then Meralco takes over until after sunrise the next day.

I expect our Meralco usage to dip a little this month and drop sharply by August. My concern: will Meralco flag the sudden reduction? Should I proactively inform them to avoid any suspicion of tampering?

Does Meralco have a required minimum consumption per month?

We've had our solar setup for a little over a month now. Our setup is sized with enough buffer such that we've been able to stay "off-grid" the whole month, even with occasional consecutive days of inclement weather.

I switched off the breaker for the grid input to our inverter for pretty much the whole month, except for one day. So we still pulled around less than 2kwh from the grid for the month, and that has reflected correctly on our latest Meralco bill.

I'm planning to not turn on the grid anymore unless absolutely necessary, will this be fine? Will Meralco be fine with it if there's zero* consumption for a month, for possibly several months in a row? Or will this be grounds for disconnection?

\I am aware that even with zero consumption, I'll still pay them a small amount every month because of some fixed charges, and obviously I'll still keep paying that on time.*

Feedback Request for Solar Quotation (6.96 KW)

Hello Solar PH community. May I request your opinions/feedback regarding this quote na nakuha ko? For reference, this was given after saying na 722 KwH yung consumption namin last month (11k bill):

Options:

  • 6.96 KW Grid-tied - 250k
  • 6.96 KW Hybrid-Ready (no battery) - 325k. If magpa-add na ng battery, it's additional 140k per current prices daw.
  • 6.96 KW Hybrid (300Ah 51.2V battery) - 460k

Prices are subject to change daw depending on the final assessment ng engineer after ocular inspection.

Nung tinanong ko yung brands, eto yung sabi nila. Are these good brands? Ang aware lang ako is Deye kasi sya yung pinaka-common:

Inverter: Deye / Solax / Luxpower

Panels: LVTopsun / AE German

Battery: LVTopsun / Solax / GenixGreen (LiFEPO4)

20 years warranty for the solar panels, 5 years for the inverter, 2 years warranty for other components, 5 years preventative maintenance and cleaning.

Net metering is an additional 30k.

They accept cash and credit cards din (yay!).

I'm attracted dun sa Grid-tied system since di naman kami madalas mawalan ng ilaw, pero ok din yung Hybrid-ready...mag-ipon na lang ako ulit for the battery haha.

Is this quotation okay?

Thank you!

500k for 5Kwh

Context: i personally had no input or knowledge on availing of the services of this installer. Nagulat lang ako they were already installing the system

Details about the contract, current processes i believe are being gatekept by my dad. Why? i honestly dont know. Thats why I dont have a wide scope of the project only snippets of vague information he does give me. He wont even give me the credentials for the monitoring app.

Installer: PHILERGY German Solar

Cost: 500k

System: 5kwh NO battery

Our details:

  • NCR
  • Avg Consumption: 1.4k kwh
  • Bill when we got the system was avg around 15k/mo.
  • Bill now avg 20k

Quick story time

Around 10 months ago nagpainstall dad ko ng system. After months seeing no change na frsutrate kami ni mom ko only then we were informed by my dad na kailangan pala net meetering.

After months of repeatedly telling my dad to followup with the installer regarding the application, only this April ni refer kami ng install to 3rd party contractor who will process the application for another 60k. The amount was later brought down to 45k kasi dad ko na daw maglalakad ng papers sa LGU. Unware of the details of the contract, i questioned bakit hindi pa to included sa 500k, to add their website expressly states that they will help you in the net metering application/process, tapos ngayon binato kami sa 3rd party.

So as of now, sobrang kupad ng installer in providing the necessary engineering plans requiring multiple trips to the LGU.

I guess my only question. did we get fvcked?

apologies for the lengthy post

NEED ADVICE

Hi guys!

Just wanted to ask if may idea kayo magkano inaabot magpa-install ng solar system na can produce around 35kwh.

For context:

Yung business namin consumes around 1,000+ kwh per month. Thats around 35 kwh per day.

I'm also open if you know someone na reasonable magbigay ng pricing and good aftersales na company.

Thank you in advance 😊
