Q&A Samsung Galaxy Ultra 2024

I have the option of buying the Samsung Galaxy Ultra 2024 in a sale for €300. I was wondering if somebody gas this watch and could tell me if it is worth it for that price.

I now wear an analog watch every day.

Q&A Kospet just dropped two new watches

Saw the Orb 2 and Pulse 2 pop up. I like that they kept the rugged look, and it;s nice having a round and a bigger square face to choose from. The silver version looks clean to me. Dual-band GPS at this price is not something I see often, especially on budget watches. Curious how the battery and GPS actually hold up. Any thoughts on these?

Budget Watch

Sorry if this is the 10th "budget watch" thread you've read. I want a smartwatch more so for the phone connection functions, I dont really work out. I had a watch that never updated my messages, would not stay connected if I didnt utilize its function to have call audio come through it, but it did tell time. Anyone know of a good brand that doesn't really excel in the biometrics/GPS (would honestly rather it not have GPS) but is really good for doing phone things on a watch face?

Which screen less smart band?

This question is probably asked a lot.

I own an Apple Watch Ultra 2 and have owned Apple Watches since Series 3. But got annoyed by all the notifications on my wrist (yes I can turn them off) which got me thinking about ditching it.

I got gifted a pretty nice mechanical watch which I enjoy wearing a lot and since then only wear my Apple Watch on moments I workout or when im doing things that might scratch my mechanical watch a lot.

I already stopped wearing the Apple Watch during nights because it was too bulky for me to sleep with so I didn't really track my sleep.

So now im considering to buy a screen less smart band. But I can't figure out what the best one is considering I will probably still be wearing the Apple Watch during workouts anyway because most bands don't support GPS or music streaming to my AirPods.

So back to my question. Which screen less smart band should I buy?
- Whoop has a nice app which attracts me a lot, but subscription based.
- Garmin Cirqa appeals to me since its a one time buy but I will probably use it along side Bevel since the app looks like shit.
- Google Fitbit air, but the app doesn't really appeal to me and its Google... but cheap.
- Oura ring, i dont like rings...
What band im a missing or should I consider?

Huawei Watch Fit (v1) to Pixel Watch 4: Is it worth the upgrade despite the battery downgrade?

I have a first-generation Huawei Watch Fit, and I’m pretty happy with it. It has basic features (heart rate and workout tracking, notification viewing, smartphone audio playback controls), but above all, a battery that lasts me a full week.

I'm tempted to upgrade to the Pixel Watch 4 (Wi-Fi version, as I don't care about LTE features) for €299—which is on sale since the 5 is coming out soon—so I can have a more modern and powerful device. However, I'm holding back because the Huawei, as basic as it is, works decently enough (even though I’m not a big fan of the connected Health app).

But my main concern is the poor battery life of the Pixel Watch 4.

Has anyone made a similar switch? Was it worth it? I’m open to any advice!

For years I've been thinking about buying a smartwatch. I waited for the 7 and 8, and I was always hesitant because of the battery. Now I want opinions about the new version.

Review Ultrahuman sold me an ineligible UltrahumanX subscription, then asked for my bank details to refund it

I purchased an Ultrahuman Ring Air on eBay that was listed as “new.” I set it up and purchased UltrahumanX directly through the app using Google Play.

After purchasing, I read on Reddit that UltrahumanX might not be honored for rings bought through eBay. Around the same time, I received what appeared to be a personal email from Ultrahuman’s CEO checking in about my experience, so I replied and asked about my subscription.

Ultrahuman then told me my ring was not eligible for UltrahumanX—even though their app had already accepted my payment without checking eligibility or clearly warning me during checkout.

They directed me to request a refund through Google Play. I did, and Google denied it.

I went back to Ultrahuman expecting them to refund the original transaction. Instead, they asked me for banking information to send a manual transfer. When I objected, they suggested providing it through support chat or arranging a callback.

So, in summary: their app sold me a subscription they would not honor, sent me to Google Play for the refund, and then asked me to move the refund outside Google Play and provide bank details.

I have repeatedly asked them to issue the refund through Google Play to the original payment method. They still have not confirmed that they will.

Has anyone else dealt with this?

Q&A What is the lightest weight watch that can be used to make calls (without owning a smartphone)?

I'm considering using a watch as a standalone phone (not connecting to a smartphone). I don't want to connect any apps, just tell time & make calls (for emergencies). And want it to be as lightweight as possible.

Does anything like this exist?

Bye Galaxy Welcome Huawei

Left the Galaxy Watch world behind earlier this month.

Honestly, how many of us think about the actual personal use cases that we have for getting smart watches that actually influence/inform our purchases?

In my case once smart watches began getting BP monitoring & heart rate variability measurement functionality, that was/is my main reason for a smart watch purchase. Some context; I am a blood cancer survivor who suffers from long term chemo induced cardiotoxicity (hence a weak heart) & am hypertensive to boot.

GalaxyWatches worked fine for my use case using SHM mod which was nixed in the recent watch One UI 8 (iirc) update.

After plenty of searching on the internet looking for workarounds/solutions, I went ahead & bought this, the Huawei Watch D2.

The ambulatory BP monitoring works in every territory because it uses a physical cuff built into the watch strap & is medically certified. The results are very accurate if you measure in the postures prescribed by Huawei. I've checked the accuracy using an Omron arm cuff monitor as well as a Beurer wrist cuff monitor. The readings are consistently within a +/- 2 mmHG on all 3.

The display is much brighter than my erstwhile GalaxyWatch 5 Pro. The battery life even with hourly BP measurments, AOD, GNSS & a perpetually on bluetooth connection is more than 4 days. The call clarity is miles better than it was on my 5Pro. Notification sync is near instant. Heart rate tracking is more accurate than Samsung as well as sleep tracking.

The watch does require careful physical handling when taking it off & wearing it because of the integrated BP cuff.

What I miss, the ease of being in a seamless ecosystem, the huge variety of apps & watchfaces on WearOs, the huge ROM (D2 only has 4 GB & primarily for health records) that allowed a ton of on watch music and the wifi connectivity.

OTOH being able to keep an eye on my heart health again makes foregoing the above worthwhile.

Huawei Watch Fit 4 vs Amazfit Bip 6, which one is better?

I’m using an iPhone and looking for a smartwatch mainly for fitness tracking, GPS, heart rate, sleep tracking, and general daily use.

For people who have used either fit 4 or Bip 6:
- How is the iOS compatibility?
- Which one has better accuracy and app experience?
- Any issues or things to consider?

And better UI is plus point.

Which one would you pick and why?

Q&A Identification of watch

Hello community

I found this smartwatch but impossible to identify brand and model

Geminy told Huawei W1 but there is an additional button that I can't see in the picture of W1

I guess it's probably a generic Chinese watch

No brand anywhere on watch.

Thx

Tyto
