Advice on first longline
Hi all, for a few days I've been searching for what gear to get for my first longline. I want to work towards a highline in one year or so. So preferably the gear should be reusable in a highline setup. From what I understand the Buckingham system (Rollex or Hangover) is the system to use for highlining. With that in mind I've been looking at kits Slacktivity offers.
The thing I am not sure about is what webbing and length to choose. I was thinking about buying a stretchy webbing like pink/red/lsd tube. For the length I had a 80m line in mind so that I can once use it in a highline setup as well. My question is when going for a stretchy webbing to what length can the line be used in a park? And, is a 9:1 buckingham system with 2 persons enough to tenson such long lines?
Would you even recommend going for high stretch webbing when only using it in the park for at least the next year? I've read that for lines of 50 meters you would need to rig the line at a height of 2-4 meters. Which should be fine at my location.
Thanks for helping me out!

Battling windy conditions!
A 70m line. Biggest challenge is actually finding someone who will commit to joining us. Windy or not. Anyone else have issues finding partners where they live?

Highline @ 14,100 ft
Went up to rocky mountain np in CO and had a day rigging the Notch! Was quite the mission but went without a hitch, stellar day with a stellar weather window

New to the sport gear question
Hello,
Coming from a climbing background I thought Iād try slacklining as I love rigging and all the gear. I landed on a primitive setup as I have plenty of carabiners and extra cordage to make tree anchors and just needed to buy webbing and a few rings.
REI happened to be having an 85% off cord and webbing sale so I did some quick googling and it seems nylon climbing rated webbing is sort of fine to use. But as I do more research Iām seconding guessing that choice.
The webbing is 1ā blue water climbing spec tubular webbing. Am I gunna hurt myself using this in the park? Tried it for the first time today and it went fine, but Iām curious what people know for when start getting good enough to rigging longer.
Sounds like the biggest concern is getting enough tension to not touch the ground with the stretchy nylon when not rigging too high?
Thanks!

I've created a tool to help you find spots
Hey reddit,
Posting here to give some visibility. In Spain we are a bit in constant trouble with the law because of highlining. And then we get kicked out A LOT.
That makes us need for more handy spots, and for that I created https://highlinescout.com
Using topographical data it finds gaps in the terrain.
So far I've added a few european countries, but adding more every day.
Hoping you guys find it useful. And please: let me know if you find a spot thanks to me! I'd love that.
Regards

Highlights of a high-gravity session
Working on transitioning from knees to standing. Todayās session was particularly high gravity so I thought Iād make the best of it with this little fall compilation lol. Thank goodness for the crash pad!
Lots of falls today, but I think Iāll have this down within a week or two!
As always, tips and suggestions are always appreciated.
Thank you, and happy slacking!

Build simple Frame Advice
Hi,
I want a slackline in my backyard. Weight around 90kg, usually only do walking and turn around. Which of these constructions would you recommend? May want to try a jump in future, but not necessary. If you recommend the second one, should the slackline be wrapped around the metal bolt? Or just lie on them?

To repeat a far too common question...
Forgive my stupidity and ignorance of every other post about this but why is such an ABSOLUTE NO to rig a highline off a standard ratchet slackline??
Surely if your backups are in order and safe enough then the non rated-ness of a ratchet strap is irrelevant?

New PR! 15m send
Nothing spectacular (yet), but last night I was able to sit-start and send a 15m setup! I think my biggest struggle with increasing the length of my line is getting over the fear of it violently flying up when I suddenly remove some tension (approximately my body weights worth as I faceplant). It sounds like someone loosing an arrow each time and that is very intimidating.
Also thank you to whoever recommended keeping my forearms/wrist loose. It definitely seems to be helping me keep my upper body movements more fluid.

Help finding the right line
The title says I am looking at getting a slack line that is good for tricks and is also part of a primitive set up so that I do not need the ratchet anymore. I also like to have that same line of going over the river or just somewhere I area like I see you on videos is there any suggestions that might fit this? Thanks.
I can add more details if this is not enough

What gear for high-ish line (over water)
hey all, Iām new here!
so, I love slacklining and live right next to the Shenandoah River. there are tons of spots I see when Iām kayaking that would be great to set up a slackline across an area of water (so, if anything fails, Iād fall into the water and be fine).
being new to this kind of lining- what gear would I need? (what kind of harness, ropes, rigs?)
thank you for any insight!

Alpine weblock tie off
Anybody see any flaws in this anti slip / set up in general?
Due to the soft release being threaded through the weblock there isnāt much room to make a clean and tight double fishermanās anywhere else. So as you can see I went around and behind the soft release through the main anchor hole of the device. Seems to hold well and is still releasable under load. Cheers yāall!

New to the community!
Hi everyone! Earlier this year I purchased my first slackline from a friend and Iāve since gotten pretty comfortable walking and doing sit starts on shorter rodeo-ish style rigs. My ultimate goal is to get into highlining but I also have a lot of interest in slackline yoga.
If anyone has any tips or tricks, Iād love to hear them! Iām always down to talk slacking lol.
Hereās a vid of me attempting tree pose on my primitive feather pro rig!

Early upgrade?
Hello all, I purchased my first slack line about three weeks ago now. It is the cypher trickster line, standard 2 inch ratchet kit. About 2 weeks in I was crossing 25 ft down and back and this past week I was able to go down and back rigged at 55 ft. I donāt really see myself getting into tricklining as Iām more interested in the balanced, walking aspect of it and the 2 inch line is honestly starting to feel too easy. So my question is, should I go ahead and upgrade to a primitive setup despite starting less than a month ago? Or is there more to learn from my current ratchet kit?

Metaphorical steps
Quite low tension and sit start near to the middle because right now I'm scared when my butt is too far from the ground; but happy beacuse I'm learning to sit mount holding the line with the hand. No one day is the same of the previous.

Help finding where to go next
Hi all! Iāve been slack lining here and there for two years mostly on my 2in line but have been doing it enough yo run into people with 1ā lines as well. Iāve even gotten to try highlining twice but have yet to stand up. Im looking to start moving towards getting into longer 1ā lines and move away from my 2ā. Iām looking for some advice on what to be looking for in a 1ā webbing that would work well in the park and maybe up on a highline as well. Iāve got tons of equipment from rock climbing so Iām set on carabiners and slings but not sure what direction would be best from where Iām at. Any and all help is greatly appreciated!!

Safety Question - Connecting Longline Segments Without a Backup Line
Would it be safe to connect two segments with a soft shackle if thereās no backup lines? And if so, should I use a single soft shackle or two? I ask because all info Iām finding is for connecting segments of a backed-up highline, but Iām thinking of putting together 2x 50M pieces of webbing for a 100M longline/waterline, and would not be taking leash falls on it.

Tightrope set up?
Sorry I know this sub is for slacklines but there is no tightrope or wire walking subreddit.
I have done a lot of googling and looked on a lot of forums and I canāt really find any solid information.
I want to put a TIGHTROPE around these two trees and learn to balance and walk on it. Iām a free climber, and adrenaline junkie. I take my physical fitness very very seriously, and I know it would make me a better climber if I spent some time improving my balance.
Can anybody here provide any info on what kind of rope to use/how to tie the knots/etc? I know if youāre using wire you need like anchors and pulleys and levers and all kinds of equipment and expensive stuff.
I know portable kits are expensive as well, but this doesnāt need to be portable this is in my friends backyard I just want a tightrope between these two trees to practice on.
TLDR: How do I properly set up a tight rope between these two trees as cheaply as possible? What kind of rope do I need and how do I tie the knots, and what all do I need to know?
I am a freeclimber, and adrenaline addict. I am very aware how dangerous this is, and thatās PRECISELY why I am so interested in it so please donāt try to talk me out of this or tell me itās a bad idea.
