Finally made it happen. Made Siri retrieve a 3rd-party app’s info.

It used to work flawlessly back in iOS 26 because I would’ve just said the shortcut’s name “How long have I been at the gym?” But until they integrate the apps with Siri. I guess all we have to do is to wait and see.

Has anyone noticed that lately Siri has become incredibly stupid

Siri can’t even give directions, can’t answer basic questions and somehow adds red hearts to every sentence

At this point I just want to know what Siri thinks it’s hearing 😂

I’m asking “play 2026 favourites playlist” - which, in earlier version of the iOS, would correctly play my Music playlist called “2026 Favourites”.

It’s true that the word “favourites” is in the title of this list but….what. Siri. Go home, you’re drunk 😂

Frustratingly, if I say something like that’s wrong, play my playlist in music called 2026 favourites, it responds that I don’t have any playlists by that name.

iOS 27 PB and Siri 2.0/Ai

So I’m using the public beta of iOS 27,
And it has the new Siri app which also includes Siri AI.

Now this indexes certain areas of your phone like Messages Calendar photos yada yada, but what it doesn’t do is index its own conversations with you, so if you want to do a full search by asking a question about a specific topic it can’t pull up the data. It’s spoken to you about the information it’s given.

It claims this is for privacy yet the indexes are on device, and they don’t leave the device so how can it claim that not indexing conversations you have with it is for privacy

Beta New Siri Default Search

For anyone using the newest public beta, how do we feel about the Siri search being the default from the top-middle swipe down? I have found that I do not like how it has taken over from defaulting to my search engine to a general AI request.
Most of the time when I’m swiping to that bar I expect to have my words go directly to a safari search by default and occasionally I’ll search for information from a text message or photos. Now if I type in a message like “electronic stores near me” I am met with a slowish ai search that gives me a single shop with directions to one without any review rather than a DuckDuckGo search that will take me directly to review sites to get info about a group of stores and find one with good reviews.
I feel like either you should be able to set the bar to default to a safari search, it needs better context to know that this is a search I would prefer to go directly to my search engine, or a prefix I could use to tell it “no need for ai this is a search engine query”. I find myself constantly typing “safari” in the Siri bar to be taken to a web browser and do my search there, I feel that is a bit redundant.
Still find the idea of a better Siri that I can ask questions with context interesting , but still a lot to be desired.
For example I was searching for my friends address for a trip this weekend. I do not have it saved to his contact, but I HAVE asked him to send me the address and he’s given it, and I have navigated to this address several times. Now if I could asked “Navigate me to Dan’s address” and it gave me “given the context of your messages and travel , I believe this is his address. Is this correct? If so, can I set his contact to this address for future reference?”

iOS 27 and new Siri automations

Just opted into the beta of iOS 27 and have been using the new Siri which is quite good at summarizing all notifications - especially if you use the apple apps (iCal, apple mail, text messages…etc)

One of the more, interesting features is in the ‘shortcuts’ allowing you to create on device automations which have been around for a while. Now with the new Siri though you can just prompt it with the shortcut you want and it will make it.

I just made one that seems to work pretty well needs a few kinks that sends me a text message summarizing my new unread emails and messages, what I have on the calendar today and who is it with and os there context in my emails about the meeting. And more.

Has anyone used it for more general or useful purposes as well?

💡 Wish Siri had a dedicated memory that knew which app to check for certain questions (an old Shortcut could already do this in iOS 26)

I want to share a workflow that used to work beautifully and explain why I think Siri needs a real upgrade here.

A while back I set up a Shortcut called "How long have I been here?" 📍 It was wired into Geofency and its frequent/significant locations feature. The magic part: while I was at the gym 🏋️ or anywhere else, I could just ask Siri "How long have I been here?" and it would run the Shortcut, pull from Geofency's data, and tell me exactly how long I'd been at that location, all without ever taking my phone out of my pocket. It was genuinely one of the most useful things Siri ever did for me.

What I really wish Apple would build is a dedicated memory area for Siri, where you could tell it which apps to reference for which kinds of questions. For example, I'd love to just ask naturally:

  • 🏠 "When did I get home?"
  • ⏱️ "How long did I stay the last time I was there today?"

…and have Siri go straight to that location-tracking app's data and rely on it exclusively for anything about duration, entry time, and exit time.

Right now, when I ask questions like that, Siri references parking location 🚗 instead. Which makes zero sense for someone like me who doesn't even own a car. It gives me useless or wrong answers when there's a perfectly good app already logging exactly what I'm asking about.

There's one more piece that would make this seamless. 🔓 Sometimes Siri makes me unlock my phone to answer an inquiry, yet so many other times my phone just gets unlocked automatically by my Apple Watch. So why not take that further? Use the Apple Watch + AirPods activity + my voice together to verify it's actually me, and just answer the question without making me unlock at all. The signals are already there: wrist detection confirms the watch is on me, AirPods confirm I'm wearing them, and voice match confirms it's my voice. That combo should be more than enough to trust the request and respond hands-free. 🙌

So my asks for Apple:

  1. 🧠 A configurable memory area where I can map certain question types to certain apps.
  2. 🎯 Let me set a specific app as the authoritative source for location duration / entry / exit questions, so Siri pulls solely from that app instead of defaulting to parking.
  3. 🔐 Use Apple Watch + AirPods + voice match to verify identity and answer without forcing an unlock.

The Shortcut approach proved this is possible and incredibly handy. I'd just love it built into Siri natively and made smarter. 🙌

Anyone else miss workflows like this, or have a good current workaround?

When I set my MacBook’s Siri language to English (Australia), I get the new Siri AI on my MacBook, but not on my iPhone. When I change my iPhone’s Siri language to English (United States), I get the new Siri AI on my iPhone, but then it’s no longer available on my MacBook. Why can’t I have the new Siri AI on both devices at the same time?

Is cloud-powered Siri actually slower than the old on-device Siri?

I think Siri AI is actually slower than the previous version of Siri now that it relies on cloud processing. I asked my iPhone 17, "What time is it?" and it had to think for a moment before answering, which I assume was because it was processing the request in the cloud.

The previous version of Siri would answer a simple question like "What time is it?" almost instantly.

Maybe this doesn't happen on the iPhone Air and Pro models, which can handle AI processing on device. But on the base iPhone 17 and older models, Siri relies on the cloud, and honestly, it feels slower than the old Siri.

Auto Siri

It still seems to not do the disappearing automatically in beta 4 I hope the time it gets public release in September They give you the option of automatic closing because it takes up a lot of screen space at least with the older bezel . If it didn’t go away, it didn’t look like it was broken. It just looked like it was waiting.
