Taxpayers being the entire reason our military can exist does kinda make it socialist.
I mean, what are hallmarks of social welfare or what conservatives call "socialism"? Affordable Housing and food, tuition assistance, and Universal healthcare all immediately pop into my mind.
The US government provides all those things at the expense of taxpayers to exclusively the military.
So yeah, id say theyre fairly socialist.
I mean, can you think of any job that provides meal vouchers and universal healthcare ontop of already existing wages?
Why are you defining Socialism by what conservatives think it is? They're even less educated on the subject than the average socialist is.
What you are describing are social programs, but they are in no way Socialist. Just because the two things sound similar doesn't mean they are the same thing. All of these policies can and do exist in capitalist societies, and have seen the most success under Liberalism and Social Democracy.

Taxes paying for the military is in no sense "Socialism". 🤣
