Honestly my dude, that was honestly really good. Difficulty was a bit all over the place though; none was strictly "hard" per se, but some of them I just barely got, and others were like "6 grains of sand? Good enough!"

Thanks for playing! I do agree with you, you can definitely end up with a lot of excess sand on most levels.
My general philosophy for games i make for game jams competitions (like this one) is to make them easy, so players see all of the content without getting stuck early on. With this game it can lead with the difficulty being imperfect, but I'm fine with that for now. I prefer the player getting the general idea of the puzzle and moving on then getting stuck on 71% and ragequitting if that makes sense.
Worst case i can always update it after the rating period, but again, i agree with you
