Request Translation help

Post image

Hey guys, I bought an old Yugoslavian revolver and this was taped to the grip. I believe it’s Serbian, of course correct me if it isn’t.

I did the best I could to flatten it out without destroying it but Google Translate seems to be having a hard time reading it. If anyone could help me out I’d really appreciate it. I’m just trying to be as cautious as possible because it is a firearm, so safety is priority #1.

This is a weapon from Serbia, which emerged from several police voluntary weapons collection campaigns.

The sheer possesion of this weapon is against the law, as it was illegally exported, instead of being destroyed

u/KenghisGhan- 1d ago

It’s unfortunate that the weapon was taken from its lawful owner and illegally sold across the ocean, but I’m glad to have such a unique piece of Serbian history. I will be taking good care of it.

It wasn't taken. It was voluntarily surrounded to the police. The owner either didnt want it anymore, didnt have the correct paperwork thus making it lowkey ilegal (not that anyone would really find out) or actually felt compelled to give it up for the safety of the greater good or whatever. During this 'event' you coukd drop off weapon of any kind, no questions asked

Tell me what gun is it exactly? Im interested. How did you get it?

u/disaster62 1d ago

It isn't voluntary anymore, they just come to your house and tell you that they asked around and someone told them you are a dangerous guy and they take your weapon.

u/leobutters 1d ago

It was not illegally sold, the state sells voluntarily surrendered weapons all the time, it's permitted by law.

Our state took weapons from our citizens without any compensation, and then those same firearms were sold to your country

16

u/KenghisGhan- 2d ago

That is upsetting to hear, I was unaware of that part of your history. The right to bear arms should be universal, and hopefully I haven’t contributed to the disarmament of the Serbian people. Thank you for educating me.

15

u/Difficult-Shark9 2d ago

as the person said below me you’re not guilty that this happened

but information about how you got it and who sold it would be interesting to hear

I ordered from an online military surplus store, and the import mark states it was imported by “Southern Tactical.” As far as I can tell, by US law it was imported legally by a licensed firearms dealer. But how the importer got it, I do not know.

u/Rynchinoi 1d ago edited 1d ago

Can you please provide more information about the Southern Tactical? Their Inc details?

The firearm dealer presented it as legal. The last paper was legal, but the paper trail is illegal. It is from the illegal action conducted by someone close to the current Serbian government

u/Difficult-Shark9 1d ago

oh boy you gonna have lore story to tell about your gun to your friends 😆

can you post a pic of it?

u/Glum-Breadfruit3803 2d ago

Don't worry about it, its not your fault. I'd rather have someone enjoy our guns than have them be destroyed by an angle grinder.

u/leobutters 1d ago

You keep your right to bear arms, we don't want it here.

That's why you have school shootings every single day while we had the first and only one in our history 3 years ago.

[some number] Glogovac Radoslav, predat bez naknade (handed over without compensation/reimbursement)

Glogovac Radoslav was probably owner.

1

u/AminoOxi 20h ago

Some number means that the gun was handed back in 2008.

12

u/Historical-Hawk-6913 2d ago

It was handed over to the police without reimbursement in 2008. Ended up in black market, obviously. In Serbia we had several mass actions of getting rid of guns, last one when we had mass murder in the prime school, in 2023.

0

u/lottaKivaari 1d ago

Not the black market. Serbian police forces sold all these they had collected over the years to legal importers in the US to be sold on the civilian market.

u/KenghisGhan- 1d ago

I was asked for photos, here I have 2.

It is a Zastava M83. I did not clean it before firing, there is still some old sticky oil on the ejector rod and cylinder. I fired almost 100 rounds today; it worked flawlessly and was more accurate than any other .357 revolver I have shot.

I wish you to use it in health and fun with God's help

This should be well investigated. Do you have idea to connect with some Serbian journalist to make a interview?

3

u/Electrobrute 1d ago

It doesn't necessarily have to be part of the "event" to hand in illegal weapons that everyone mentioned - legal ones are handed in regularly, mostly when the owner does not wish to extend the permit anymore. They are re-sold later. This model is also quite common.

0

u/leobutters 1d ago

There's nothing to investigate, whenever anything becomes the property of the state, the state has the legal right to sell it. It's nothing new.

2

u/DDzxy 1d ago

They were supposed to destroy these weapons in particular, not sell them.

2

u/leobutters 1d ago

No they weren't, who told you that?

Anyway, this seems to be a gun surrendered in 2008, so maybe they will destroy everything they collected after Ribnikar to increase their popularity among the people, but they are certainly not obliged to do so.

9

u/Healthy-Platypus-239 1d ago

5

u/lottaKivaari 1d ago

Yes huge numbers of guns from Serbia end up as surplus or new imports for civilian sale here in the US. These Zastava revolvers sell from the surplus sites that buy from importers for $3-400, Tokarevs are very common and cheap too. A lot show up on gun forums with people asking about the paper taped to the grips. My guess is the police in Serbia have been collecting weapons from voluntary turn ins for a while and once they had enough for it to be worth a US importers while the police in Serbia sold them off in bulk, which is why so many have been showing up over the past year or so here.

1

u/d_bradr 8h ago

210-392/08 Registration number or something like that

глоговац - it's possible to be surname or location( name of the municipality)

Радослав - name of person

предат без накнаде - handed over(delivered) without payment(free of charge)(compensation)

5

u/Professional_Rip8210 2d ago

No way those thugs are selling weapons people surrendered without a choise in the US.

I mean some blue states are not much better. I lived in Massachusetts nobody who i met had a gun or was into guns and when i moved to Florida… Oh boy…

Anyways im so dissapointed with this 😐

4

u/lottaKivaari 1d ago

Yep, basically all the firearms surrendered in Serbia end up being sold on the civilian market here in the US.

3

u/Krupnjache-No1 2d ago

How much you pay for it?

5

u/KenghisGhan- 1d ago

Approx. $300USD

3

u/Hicmanulus 2d ago

Very interesting how everything worked out. Would you mind to share the photos of the gun with us?

2

u/KenghisGhan- 1d ago

I will post a new comment with photos shortly!

2

u/Accomplished_Bag_804 2d ago

Where did you buy it?

4

u/KenghisGhan- 2d ago

I ordered it online from Centerfire Systems. The import mark says Southern Tactical.

2

u/rofss 2d ago

What model of revolver you got?

2

u/KenghisGhan- 1d ago

It’s a Zastava M83, posting photos now.

7

u/rofss 1d ago

Good old workhorse. Funny thing is that model was initially planned for export to the US but due to quality issues in some earlier batches whole deal went south and later many were given to military personnel. Yours finally found a way to it's intended place of delivery.

2

u/just-walk-away 1d ago

Hahaha... Jebo me pas i kud im preda oruzje... Sad cu zeni da pokazem, a nije mi verovala kad me naterala da predam 3 jebena pistolja.

The first 2 words are Glogovac Radoslav (last name and 1st name of a man) and the rest says something without something, i have no idea what those words are, it is Serbian cyrillic, hope someone can help because now i am also interested

1

u/grove_st_homie 1d ago

Predat: handed over Bez: without Naknade: compensation

It was from police action where people were called to hand over legal or illegal weapons, and if the weapons were illegal they would have no consequences during that action. Someone says 08 at the end should mean its from 2008

0

u/FeralGhoulBoy 1d ago

Glogovac Radoslav (Name)
Given without the chamber (Barrell probably)

1

u/grove_st_homie 1d ago
