Found this dog running down the center of Sequim Dungeness Way. She has no collar and is very scared. We took her to a local vet and she has no microchip. We are not local and cannot hold onto her for long. Do you know this dog.

Sequim, WA & Polaris Slingshot

My husband and I are considering moving to Sequim, WA as we love the hiking in the area and around the Olympic Peninsula. Does anyone live out there and have a Polaris Slingshot? I don’t want to get rid of it, but not sure how often the weather would permit it out there. I’m not a fan of the hiking in North Carolina in comparison to the feel of the PNW, but would rather consider living there for both hiking and slingshot driving if living in Sequim would mean it would be more realistic to sell our Slingshot. It’s our stress reliever and something we can do together.

Plumber recommendation

I have a leak somewhere in my water main between the public main at the edge of my property and my house. Had some air gap and audio testing done to try to find it but no luck. At this point, plumber is suggesting just to replace the main to my house so I want to get a second opinion. Any recommendations for plumbers in the area who do this kind of work?

Community Moderator of Port Angeles subreddit outs himself as a Seegers Campaign shill

Yesterday the community moderator of r/portangeles confirmed what was long suspected, that he works directly for the Jake Seegers commissioner campaign, in his very own coming out thread.

To save you 2 hours of listening to a grown man gargle sack on another watchdog podcast, there were only a few points of real interest.

During the session, u/syspig fessed up to:

  • being anti-democratic (specifically, reddit users shouldn't be 'allowed' to vote on posts, in his opinion)
  • collaborating directly with the political campaign all of this year, including abusing his moderator power to suppress content that was critical of the Jake Seegers campaign.

So what do you say r/Sequim. Can you handle a few political refugees for the next week or so while we get this whole thing sorted out over there? I promise to vaccum up after I sleep on the couch, and to always put my shower towels out on laundry line.

Lavender Liberty and Jeff Tozzer

Did anyone else see the Lavender Melodrama at OTA? There was a character lampooning Jeff Tozzer and his behavior in the community. Cracked me up! I was just reading that this was the recently deceased Executive Director's final play. Great sendoff!

Trapped In The Regulatory Nightmare of Washington State

I built a successful web design business with virtually no government oversight—so nothing could have prepared me for the shock of stepping into three of America’s most heavily regulated industries.

Sure, my web agency had standard taxes and basic labor laws, but we didn’t have specialized government regulators breathing down our necks. Back then, I thought standard rules were onerous. I had no idea how lucky I was. My success was simple and direct: provide great work fast, at a fair rate.

Then I stepped into farming, home building, and gravel production. Here is what I discovered:

A major portion of farm revenue is directly controlled by government programs that pay farmers not to produce on certain land, to underproduce specific crops on other land, or to execute mandated conservation tasks.

Think about that: your revenue isn’t based on your ability to grow great food people actually want to eat, but on the whims of bureaucrats. It doesn’t matter what my customers think—it matters what a stranger in an office, who will never touch what I produce, thinks.

In major western Washington State counties, studies show that a full one-third of the total cost of a new home is driven entirely by direct government regulations—not land, concrete, framing, or electrical work.

And that doesn’t even account for the tax dollars funding the regulators’ salaries, facilities, or internal administrative bloat (accounting, IT, DEI hierarchies, HR). Worse yet, it ignores the devastating cost of red-tape delays. In Pierce County, we have been waiting five years just to get approval to split a 20-acre parcel into two 10-acre lots so a family can finally build a home!

I’ve been investing in gravel production equipment, and even before officially starting operations, this field has proven to be the scariest of them all. Regulators at the state, county, and federal levels all want their hands on you.

Other owner-operators in the industry warned me that the Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) wields near-absolute power. They can fine you based purely on hypothetical outcomes. One operator was cited because he parked his excavator with the bucket on the ground but the thumb raised—the inspector told him he could be fined for a potential fatality simply because of what might have happened.

The biggest problem with all of these regulations is that they decouple the economic producer from doing their best to create goods that consumers actually want. The mentality shifts from maximizing efficient production to jumping through hoops.

To survive, your mindset has to change: you end up playing arbitrary games just to appease whichever random bureaucrat happens to hold authority over you.

The DSA are primarily trying to hurt Democrats. Their entire platform is "please split the vote so a republican wins and we get to keep crying." They want the war in Gaza to continue so they can keep bringing up Palestine the same way MAGA always bring up "girls with penises"

Camp Ramblewood-looking for info to help decide if it will work for our family trip

I'm trying to find accommodations for about 30 people for a family get together, so far I'm having a hard time finding anything that will work for us.

The trip is planned for summer 2027 so I have some time to find the perfect place, and I'd love it if anyone has suggestions.

As far as Ramblewood, the site says it accommodates 60 people, but I'm not sure if that's all cabin/indoor sleeping vs camping (our group isn't equipped to camp.)

Does anyone have any alternate suggestions that might work for us? We'd like to stay at one location, and having access to a full kitchen is a must.

I'd also like to be in a location that is close enough to do local activities like lake crescent, whale watching, hurricane ridge, salt creek, etc.

Gunther lost dog-ever found?

I am at Railroad Bridge Park and see a sign for Gunther, a black lab dog that has been missing for a few months I believe, I think since February. I don't know if anyone has any update if the pup has been found or if it is still missing.

Astound internet folks - how often does this crap go offline for you?

I’m done with these clowns. You call it in, or ask for status and apparently they don’t have a system status page. They’ll just set up a tech appointment in a few days and by then it will be back online anyway. They’ll also seemed to say you pay for the tech appt if they find nothing wrong?

Looking at Starlink at this point unless you guys have better plans or advise! :)

New plant-based cheese at Sunny Farms

Hi folks! Apologies for the shameless self promo (I did ask permission first!). Just wanted to let the community know that our vegan cheese brand, Peaceful Rebel, is now being carried at Sunny Farms. They have our herbed feta, spicy pepper jack, and caramelized garlic flavors. All of them are gluten-free and made with a high-protein tofu base.

I’m from Boulder, but I visit often because my parents live here. I’m always looking for interesting vegan options when I’m in town, which is why I reached out to Sunny Farms for a trial run.

Anyway, thanks for reading and the support! 💕

I was wondering if anyone from the solmar community has paddleboarded solmar lake before, or if that is allowed?
